Guessing it would be in comparison to the current Texas A&M, Florida, Miami, et al. throw-it-all-into-recruiting approach (which, by the way, is not what NIL was intended to be).

I would point to the issues at Texas A&M this season as to the viability of that model. A handful of 18-year-olds with millions of dollars in a locker room with other players has not worked out well.

Similarly, there is a question of sustainability. To use Texas A&M again, who is putting up millions of dollars? Are they going to do that every single year, in perpetuity?

Our program is (and has been) more of a long-term investment that pitches development. If you're a young player who is looking to get rich quick, that might not be for you. But that player might not necessarily be right for us either.

In this instance, maybe Pete wants us to be like those other teams. Whether he is right or wrong, I can assure you that Nick Saban does not.
