Just hypothesizing here..

Heupel said last night that the Vols always use silent count. Even at home. They call in plays using signs. They will sometimes make an audible at the line of scrimmage when they see something they don’t like but more often than not, they snap it as soon as they get lined up. Would it not be equally as important for Georgia’s defense to communicate through the crowd noise given how quickly the Vols snap the ball after getting lined up?

Yes. The homefield advantage is going to work against UGA.

Conventional wisdom is that crowd noise impacts the offense far more. I suppose it could have a negative effect on Ds trying to communicate but I'd think the home team would be smart enough to signal the crowd to tone it down if it was really messing with them.

In a game like this crowd noise is going to effect false starts more than anything else.
