I’ve been to a great many LSU night games… and here is the truth…. That “tradition” is done, finished, over.

Today a night game starting at 8:00 PM isn’t over until 11:30 or midnight. At LSU you will then have a 1-2 hour wait just to leave the area hopefully by 1AM. Because of that, at half time the stands are emptying rapidly and are 1/4 full in 4thQ.

Few people can drink and eat all day and be functional at midnight. And with all the trash, stinking garbage, and drunks around the stadium, it can be down-right dangerous to leave that late…I have some horror stories about that.

Back in the day when a game lasted 2-3 hours max maybe it was fine, but this is 21st C. Even the Alabama game features half empty stadium the last Q.

Also, my LSU friends think LSU is a national draw like Alabama, Texas, Penn State. They are convinced people in California and Virginia are just waiting breathlessly for an LSU game to come on. I hate to break it to you, but outside of this State. LSU is a middling draw… akin to UNC or Wisconsin. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE THE DEFENDING LAST PLACE TEAM.

I know you don’t like it, but someone had to tell you the truth. Don’t choke, sputter, deny, hurl hate and invective… just consider what I typed. The truth shall set you free.

PS: Start “night” games at 5:00 PM.
