The original plan was either Texas or A&M for the West and either FSU or Miami for the East. But the former schools cockblocked each other in the state legislature and the latter schools were pussies.
Clemson was originally supposed to have left the ACC with SCar in the early 70s over the tobacco road mafia but they pussed out I guess.
