You mixed up Wade and Thomas, but the point stands. Some were trying to push the Bear our in the late 60s because they thought he had lost his winning edge.
All that said, the pressure on the first HC after Saban will be unreal, as the cupboard will be left full and the ship built. He'll be expected to keep it in course without excuses.
