I understand wanting more to match the revenue they are creating for the university and everything it comes with but man…the things I would’ve done and sacrificed to have the opportunity to play big time football.

I’m afraid if players want to be considered employees, they’re greatly underestimating the negatives that come with being considered an employee. There’s no scenario where players are gonna be able to make millions off of NIL, a salary from the school, free healthcare for life, free meal/housing, free gear/clothes and not have some skin in the game.

The thing is, the players don't really create that revenue. You could take the top5000 or whatever players each year, put them in a supplemental league separate from college football, and college football would not miss a beat.

Because the actual draw is the schools themselves. The players are the ones who benefit from these things tremendously. People are fans of the teams, regardless of who plays for them.

This is proven time and time again when other leagues are constantly trying to form, but can't get the fans. When they do form, they pay the players very little money, don't provide the coaching, or anything remotely close to what is provided in college football. Because there is no real market for them.

There is some value in terms of competitiveness, and some teams getting better players overall. But again, take out the top5000 players, and the 5001st player is just the new "5 star".

At any rate, the schools don't actually make profit. All the revenue goes back into sports.
