I disagree. The NCAA is dumb in a lot of ways but the NIL has effectively made college football "pay to play", and out in the open, too.

Stipends and direct payments of how much? You don't seem to realize that inches=miles. There's no way to do that uniformly without already giving away too much. The players would just demand more, saying that what they get paid isn't equitable to what they bring in for the schools.

Also, schools would have to give stipends to players for other sports (including women) that don't bring in any money at all. There are unintended consequences of going that route.

Again, it is the government that opened the door here. Pinning everything on the NCAA is absurd.
