Forward progress wasn't stopped IMO.

I'm not gonna link the play, most have us have surely seen it.
But watch it at full speed.
If you think his progress was stopped then well over half of the running plays we see in every game where a player gets held up and then breaks free should ruled dead.
He wasn't down and he reached his arm across the goal line within less than a second of landing on the Purdue player.
I'm a huge defensive fan, but that was a TD.
If you want to argue he was assisted, that's another debate and should have involved a flag.
But either way the assisting didn't get him in the endzone, him reaching the ball out did.
UT got screwed, not only on that play but on several others.

Then a flag should have been thrown

My clip ends when the ball stops moving forward and even begins moving backwards. Anything that happens after that point is largely irrelevant, which is likely why UT wasn’t flagged for assisting the runner. That is illegal in American football and should be met with anger by football fans who don’t appreciate UT’s blatant attempt at cheating.

He had 2 defenders on him, and his own guy was trying to pull him into the endzone, which is against the rules.
I thought Tennessee got screwed at first, but after seeing the guy pulling him in etc, it's obvious it was the correct call.

Really, let me go find a clip where a Bama player gets hung up and then breaks out and then goes for another 15 yards.
It happens all the time.

Rules are rules. Per the rulebook, the ball is dead when forward progress is in question. Whether or not that’s fair or feels good doesn’t matter.

What difference does that make?
It was confirmed by the replay booth.
Sorry, but calling a guy who's being pulled by his own players is not forward progress regardless of a flag.
That's the rules, they got it right.

It could even be argued that it’s the fault of the UT puller. That certainly would have been where forward progress came into question, which by definition, causes the play to be ruled dead.

Where another player is trying to pull him forward while he is almost on the ground?
I'd like to see that clip.

1. Being almost on the ground means nothing, you are either down or you are not. You can crawl across ten guys to the endzone as long as you don't go down by the rules.
2. Him being pulled means nothing in regards to his forward progress, which is what they ruled was stopped.
Obviously if his being pulled got him in the endzone then he was still progressing forward and a flag should have been thrown for it.

Alot, if the penalty results in them getting a repeat of the down.

It means a lot when talking about forward progress. If he was crawling across ten guys, he's making forward progress.

It's the entire reason the rule exists, but you think it means nothing?
If he was making forward progress, he wouldn't have been able to pull on the guy for multiple seconds. Again, that is the reason for the rule, he is interfering with actual forward progress.
