Sean Brown (6-foot-5, 230 pounds, Rome, Ga.)

Brown had yet to receive an offer from Auburn, until Wednesday, that is. The three-star recruit was on campus earlier this month for the Tigers' junior day. He's rated as the No. 34 tight end in the 2019 class and the No. 92 player in Georgia. He currently holds offers from 11 programs, including SEC East teams Tennessee and Kentucky, as well as the likes of N.C. State and Troy.

Visited Tennessee this past weekend Vols probably our biggest threat

IN-STATE GLANCE

Three-star Etowah prospect Jamin Graham is listed as a defensive end in the 247Sports Composite rankings, but Auburn coaches like the 6-foot-6, 218-pounder at tight end. He visited campus for junior day earlier this month, and while he doesn't yet have an offer from Auburn, he holds offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina and six other programs.

TOP DEFENSIVE LINE TARGET

Nathan Pickering (6-foot-5, 270 pounds, Seminary, Miss)

Pickering is not just one of the nation's top defensive linemen, but he's also the No. 2 player in a talent-rich class out of Mississippi. The four-star strongside defensive end is a top-50 player in the 2019 class and the No. 4 player at his position, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He was on the Plains earlier this month for Auburn's junior day, and along with his offer from the Tigers, he holds offers from Mississippi State, Alabama, LSU, Florida, Ole Miss and others.

This dude seems to fall in love with every school he visits. Interested to see how much of that is him just being nice publicly or if it's just "visit highs"

2 MORE TO WATCH

Justin Eboigbe (6-foot-5, 261 pounds, Forest Park, Ga.)

Eboigbe is a four-star prospect who is rated as the No. 9 strongside defensive end in the nation and the 117th-best prospect overall in the 2019 class. He holds 24 offers, including Auburn and Georgia. According to 247Sports, Eboigbe grew up an Auburn fan, and he was on campus earlier this month for an unofficial visit.

DJ Dale (6-foot-3, 265 pounds, Pinson)

Dale is a four-star defensive tackle who has drawn some early comparisons to current Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown. He's rated as the No. 22 defensive tackle in the nation and 13th-best player in Alabama. He visited Auburn earlier this month, and it appears to be a battle between the Tigers and Alabama for his commitment, though Texas A&M and Florida State could be in the mix after extending offers in recent weeks.

Dale is the top defensive lineman in the state, followed by three-star McGill-Toolen defensive tackle Ledarrius Cox, who does not yet hold an Auburn offer. There's also three-star Wetumpka defensive tackle Patrick Lucas, who was offered by Auburn earlier this month but is considered an Alabama lean.

Cox was recently offered by UGA I believe

Jackson-Olin 3-star LB Jammal Abrams commits to SEC East school (AL.com)
quote:

Jackson-Olin linebacker Jammal Abrams apparently liked what he saw from the Florida football program this weekend.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker committed to Florida today while visiting Gainesville for the Gators' Junior Day event. He announced his decision on Twitter.

Alabama, Auburn, Oregon and LSU also showed interest in Abrams, but Florida was the first to extend a scholarship offer last month. He is currently rated a 3-star prospect by 247sports.

Abrams is the latest in Jackson-Olin's recent string of SEC defensive signees, following linebacker T.D. Moultry in 2017 and defensive tackle Coynis Miller in 2018, both to Auburn.

Abrams joins a growing list of 2019 Birmingham area players who have already made a college commitment, including Pinson Valley quarterback Bo Nix and Hoover receiver George Pickens, both to Auburn.

FWIW KN seems to think if AU offers they could be a threat to flip

Spanish Fort 2019 CB D.J. James commits to SEC West school (AL.com)
quote:

Spanish Fort rising senior cornerback D.J. James just felt like the time was right.

A week after visiting Mississippi State, James committed to the Bulldogs on Twitter late Saturday night.

"It's a school that I've fallen in love with," James said. "I wanted to go into spring not worrying about this recruitment stuff too much. I just wanted to focus on my team and improving so I went ahead and committed."

Ironically, the 6-foot, 175-pound James committed to an SEC West school on the same day he visited defending national champion Alabama. He said he also plans to visit LSU next weekend.

James also has offers from Ole Miss, Florida, Kansas, Troy and UAB among others.

"When I visited Starkville, I loved the coaches a lot," he said. "The staff treated me well, and everyone made me feel at home."

James intercepted six passes as a sophomore for the Toros, running four back for touchdowns. He added three more interceptions during his junior year.

"One of my big dreams was to play in the SEC," he said. "Now I have that chance."

James said he hasn't talked about possible playing time with the Bulldog staff yet, though he did say coaches are expecting a lot out of the 2019 class.

According to the 247 composite rankings, James is the No. 24 senior prospect in the state of Alabama for 2019.

"D.J. is an SEC cornerback," Spanish Fort head coach Ben Blackmon said. "He's got great instincts. He's a great football player."

Blackmon expects other schools to continue to recruit James during his senior year.
"There is a long way to go until Signing Day," he said.

TOP LINEBACKER TARGET

Owen Pappoe (6-foot, 211 pounds, Grayson, Ga.)

Pappoe is the No. 1 outside linebacker in the country and the No. 2 overall recruit from Georgia -- and he's high on Auburn's 2019 priority list. The five-star linebacker was on campus earlier this month for Auburn's junior day and left his visit with the Tigers among his top schools. He holds offers from 41 programs, thought Auburn, Georgia and Clemson appear to be ahead of the pack.

2 MORE TO WATCH

Nakobe Dean (6-foot, 215 pounds, Horn Lake, Miss.)

Dean is the No. 1 inside linebacker in the 2019 class as well as the top prospect in Mississippi, which is rich in talent this cycle. The five-star linebacker took a trip to Auburn in late January and left the Plains "impressed" with what the Tigers have to offer. Still, it will no doubt be a tough battle for Auburn, which will be competing against the likes of Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Florida. Dean, the nation's No. 24 overall recruit, isn't expected to make a decision until after his senior season, so there's still a long ways to go in this one.

Him & Pickering are gonna be big time battles between AU, BAMA, LSU & the MS schools

Bentley is the state's top linebacker, but not far behind is Auburn High standout Mohamoud Diabate, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound, four-star outside linebacker who is the ninth-best player in the state. He was offered by Auburn back in November, while Alabama offered him on Saturday. Still, the Tigers should be in the running for him. There's also three-star Fultondale linebacker Ja'Len Sims, who is the No. 15 player in the state and has been offered by Auburn, as well as nine other schools.

Bama & FSU offered Diabate this weekend. We still haven't.

I really like Sims. He recently bumped AU out of his top spot for State. Not sure how much of that is us not recruiting him as hard. AU swinging for fences right now at that spot

KN has update on Calvin Anderson tonight. He's focused in on 4 schools: AU, MICH, OK & TEX. Says he's getting closer to a decision. Still talks with AU a bunch, mostly with Chip Lindsey. The big draw for AU is Gus Malzahn, playing on SEC Network & big stage the SEC provides. Says when he has made decision will post on Twitter. Deadline he has set is still March 25th

KN says in comments that everyone still seems to think TEX is team to beat

A few days ago KN posted a recruiting insider. Here's summary

- AU sources told KN they think it's 50/50 choice is AU. However, TEX sources still feel really good & actually see MICH & OK as bigger threats. Sounds like AU will continue to look at grad transfer options if they miss on Anderson

- Apparently Bruce Feldman mentioned AU as a team interested in ECU graduate transfer QB Gardner Mishew but KN's sources say AU really not recruiting him. Apparently Lindsey recruited him out of HS

- KN talked about CBing Sean Brown to AU. Says Brown saying AU is where he really wants to be (tho tried to step back from that comment later) is really telling. AU wants 2 TEs this cycle & Brown checks all the boxes. TEN is the main threat right now but KN thinks if AU pushes they can snag Brown

- Texas has emerged as team to beat for 4* RB Noah Cain

- 4* DE Justin Eboigbe is shaping up to be a AU/UGA/UT battle. AU sees UGA as biggest threat & UGA sees AU as theirs. Grew up an AU fan & Garner has made him a priority. KN says could grown into a DT (I think he's a lot like Nick Coe)

- Apparently there are 2 signees that might have academic concerns tho AU apparently thinks everyone will get in. I know there were some rumors about Harold Joiner not sure who else tho

- Rusty Mansell on UGA 247 is reporting that Dawgs are gonna make a big push for AU commit George Pickens. KN says obviously you have to see UGA as a threat but thinks that Pickens will be hard to flip. Apparently Pickens's brother Chris Humes played for Chip Lindsey at Spain Park in HS & was recruited by Malzahn at Arkansas State

- KN says expect lots of busy weekends with spring practice starting soon

Caldwell has update on 4* OT Xavier Truss who visited today & landed an offer. He's from Rhode Island but taking a tour of southeast this weekend visiting Clemson, UGA, Bama & AU. Returning up north to visit Penn State next. Called the visit incredible & specifically mentioned how much he liked JB Grimes. He wants to take an OV later & see AU for a gameday. Likes AU depth chart at OT & thinks he could have a chance to play early. Says Clemson & UGA are 2 other schools he would like to take an OV too as well
