Why is EJ ranked so low on rivals?
SUPER early on 2020 rankings so wouldn't worry too much. Chances are they haven't really evaluated him yet
He's expected to be one of the top prospects in state next season. KN said in chat tonight that AU is probably still the team to beat

I disagree. We keep firing coaches. UGA and Bama have had consistency at the HC spot. That really effects recruiting. Locking down Gus will pay off on the trail.
Wut? thUGA just fired their winningest coach of all-time, and their recruiting has gotten better since.
Nobody here would have a problem with keeping a coach, but:
Tubs had to go. He was not going to get things back on track. 2008 was a trainwreck. He shite his pants when Saban came to town.
Chizik had to go. The whole program was crumbling. Players were running things. There was no discipline.
Malzahn needs to go. The NC broke him. He doesn't know how to adapt. It's very frustrating because he is right on the cusp, but he refuses to change.

Who does AU hire that you think would not only come to AU right now but would do a better job than Malzahn?

Today's first day official offers can go out

Posted on 8/1/18 at 7:54 am to TigerPaw1
Nehemiah Pritchett, Marc-Antony Richards & Kenny Logan have all posted official offers.
Logan is interesting. Keeps showing up at AU but not much has been reported on where AU likes him (I believe DB) & how much mutual interest between the two

KN put up a 10 Most Wanted article this morning. The previous #1s were Owen Pappoe & Andrew Booth. Here's summary
1.) 4* ATH Zion Puckett - AU needs an elite CB this class & with Booth off the board Puckett is that guy. He has AU as his top team right now & is expected to make his commitment August 17th
2.) 4* Buck Derick Hall - Named AU his leader in June but facing stiff competition from MSST & FSU. He visited the Noles this past weekend but still has AU as his top team. KN believes a decision will still come in August but he will take his OVs in the fall. Gus is big reason why AU leads, Hall says he's closes to him than any other head coach
3.) 4* RB Noah Cain - Recently dropped a top 6 of AU/UGA/LSU/OK/PSU/TEX. AU will get an OV & KN believes that AU/LSU are his top 2 teams. LSU probably the favorite but they need to have a strong start to the season
4.) 4* LB Trezman Marshall - Won't be an easy flip from UGA but if anyone does it will be AU. He's very close with Owen Pappoe & continues to build relationship wit T-WILL. As of today, KN thinks he sticks with Dawgs but December is long ways away....
5.) 3* DE Colby Wooden - He's a top target for both AU & CLEM. Wooden is expected to commit August 16th & AU is the favorite.
6.) 4* RB Mark-Antony Richards - Could play a lot of different positions but AU wants him at RB, his preferred position. MIA is the overwhelming favorite as his brother plays there. However, Canes want him on defense so there's a chance that AU recruiting him at RB could prove big. If he leaves state of FL it will be for AU
7.) 5* WR Jadon Haselwood - UGA commit has visited AU 4 times this year & at Big Cat brought 10 family members on visit. AU thinks he can be flipped while UGA believes he sticks. MIA is also a flip threat. Haselwood is close with Kodi Burns & AU commits Bo Nix & George Pickens. He will OV in the fall
8.) 4* OG William Putnam - AU/FSU battle with Noles trending. However, he's not announcing in August as originally planned so AU still has good shot at winning battle
9.) 5* OT Wanya Morris - KN thinks chances are slim he flips from Vols right now. But AU will recruit him hard to end & two of his teammates are committed to AU in Owen Pappoe & Jakai Clark. He's supposed to OV this fall
10.) 4* WR Jalen Curry - AU is the overwhelming favorite tho Vols are making a push. Curry is close to a number of AU commits most notably Pappoe & nix. Curry hopes to visit AU again this fall, AU is the current favorite but KN says his recruitment can be unpredictable
Names he listed as "On the Bubble"
3* Nehemiah Pritchett - commit watch
3* OG Kamaar Bell - AU #2 behind Bama
4* RB Steele Chambers - OHST commit that AU still recruiting
3* DT LeDarrius Cox - Vol commit that is trending AU
4* LB Christian Harris - A&M the favorite, AU a finalist
4* LB Tyron Hopper - UF commit that recently visited AU
5* LB Nakobe Dean - Will OV to AU
4* LB Mohamoud Diabate - Visited AU recently but Tigers have work to do
4* DL Charles Moore - Seeps unlikely he will flip from MSST right now but he will OV to AU
4* CB Jalen Perry - UGA commit recently visited & will OV to AU
3* ATH Jammie Robinson - High on AU board, will likely OV
5* C Clay Webb - BAMA/UGA trending but AU still a factor

4* CB Adonis Otey is pushing back his commitment. My guess is he wants to pick AU but he's not a take

So apparently Wolk now works for Rivals. He dropped an article today. Some good stuff

Here's an inside look at things happening in and around Auburn from new AuburnSports.com reporter Benjamin Wolk:

quote:
• Cord Sandberg picked Auburn on Monday. Anytime a quarterback is added it’s going to generate interest, but especially when it’s a 23-year-old member of the Philadelphia Phillies organization. To clear up a few of the basic questions I’ve been getting, he has five years to play four just like any other incoming freshman. Many people have asked what this means for Malik Willis and Joey Gatewood. It doesn’t mean anything yet. Willis remains the clear backup to Jarrett Stidham and Gatewood will continue to develop in the offense. Sandberg was the nation’s No. 158 overall prospect in the Class of 2013, but it’s been five years since college coaches have seen him in competitive action. Auburn had a remaining scholarship to give Sandberg — something that helped the Tigers win out over LSU — so it was worth it for Gus Malzahn to make that offer, but there are no guarantees Sandberg will be any more ready than Willis, Gatewood and eventually Bo Nix. With that said, if Stidham goes pro after 2018 as many expect, the 2019 quarterback competition between Willis, Gatewood, Nix and Sandberg could be one for the ages.

• As of now, I’d expect to see three commitments added to Auburn’s 2019 list by Aug. 16. That number could grow to four depending on the decision plans of Gulfport (Miss.) linebacker Derick Hall. The three who are likely to jump on board — athlete Zion Puckett, defensive back Nehemiah Pritchett and defensive lineman Colby Wooden — all told Rivals on Tuesday that they’re likely to make their decision between now and Aug. 16.
If those 3 jump on board AU would to #9 in the rankings. Add Hall & AU moves to #8

• Puckett is down to Auburn, Alabama, Ohio State and Tennessee. He will make his decision “in about two weeks,” though he doesn’t have a finalized day, time or method yet. The Tigers should feel great about their chances.

• Pritchett estimated his choice will come “within a week or two,” and Auburn is the clear frontrunner for the in-state prospect. He’s been a likely land for the Tigers since he camped earlier in the summer. In fact, Auburn’s camp infatuation with him was a key player in Cordale Flott’s ultimate flip to LSU.
Posted on 8/1/18 at 8:29 am to TigerPaw1

• Wooden said he’ll announce his decision on Aug. 16. From talking with sources, Auburn has emerged as the favorite to land him over Clemson despite Archer (Ga.) teammate Andrew Booth’s recent pick of Clemson over Auburn.

• Speaking of Booth, a common question I received Monday was: What’s the plan at cornerback after such a big miss? There’s no denying Booth’s decision stings. He’s one of the best defensive backs in the country, without a doubt. The Puckett and Pritchett notes should help clear up some of that. If Auburn lands those two — which I believe it will — it should be considered a success. As the nation’s No. 32 prospect, Booth ranks higher overall than Puckett at No. 233. Those two were evaluated fairly evenly, however, by the Auburn coaching staff. The Tigers would’ve loved to land both, but just know the staff will be just as ecstatic if they land Puckett as they would’ve been landing Booth.

• While we’re talking about defensive backs, let’s take a look at someone already on the roster, someone who I think deserves more attention for the role he’ll be asked to play this season. Jamien Sherwood didn’t create as much recruiting buzz as fellow 2018 safety signee Smoke Monday, but he’s made just as big of an impression on the staff through the first half of the year. Two separate Auburn sources have made comment about him as a potential future first- or second-rounder. That may seem like too high of praise or unfairly set expectations — and maybe it is too soon for that kind of talk — but it shows the early confidence Auburn has in its young safeties, a potential position of concern given the senior departures. I think everyone knew to expect those kind of comments regarding Monday, but Sherwood deserves plenty of hype in his own right. In fact, the entire incoming defensive back class, including Christian Tutt and Roger McCreary has receive rave reviews early. Toss in the high praise for receiver-turned-cornerback Noah Igbinoghene, and it's easy to see why defensive coordinator Kevin Steele talks about safeties coach Greg Brown as one of the best defensive backs evaluators in the profession.
Loving the future of the AU secondary. Especially seeing what we doing in 2019 class

• Three 2019 linebackers went off the recruiting board in the last week. LaVonta Bentley chose Clemson, Rian Davis picked Georgia and Kalen Deloach committed to Florida State. Auburn will still attempt to haul in one or two more elite linebackers. Travis Williams will get his; it’s just a matter of who. The uncommitted names I’d look at right now: Nakobe Dean, Mohamoud Diabate and Mikel Jones. With that said, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Auburn scour the committed market, as well, as evidenced by a recent visit from Florida commit Tyron Hopper. Hopper's stock is rising fast inside the Auburn program.
I say file name Mikel Jones away. Has consistently had AU in his top group
