Tight end offer to watch for Auburn
As written earlier this week on SEC Country, Auburn will be in the market for multiple tight ends in the 2019 cycle.
There are several offered prospects on the Tigers radar. Auburn has strong interest in several tight ends across the Southeast, a few of them who attended junior day and were mentioned in the article about tight ends linked above.
One of those names: Sean Brown from Coosa High School in Rome, Ga.
Brown holds offers from Cincinnati, Kentucky and N.C. State, among others, with schools such as Auburn, Georgia and Florida State communicating often. Auburn hasn’t offered, but Brown said his junior day visit earlier in February gave him extra hope that it would happen.
If it does, it would be a big one.
“They’re coming this spring to watch me practice,” Brown said. “I just want to play SEC ball. That’s been my dream since I was a kid.”
Auburn offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey and tight ends coach Larry Porter stopped at Brown’s high school separately in the spring. The two-coach effort generally give an indication of a program’s interest.
In Auburn’s case, that’s high despite not offering yet.
The Tigers’ message to the 6-foot-5, 243-pound tight end has been clear.
“What they’re saying now is any freshman tight end that comes in, they’re going to get some playing time. That means a lot to me,” Brown said.

Auburn visit impresses 4-star defensive end (Rivals)
quote:
AUBURN | Four-star defensive end Justin Eboigbe visited Auburn on Sunday.
Eboigbe, from Forest Park, Ga., and his mother spent a half-day learning as much as they could about the Tigers.
“It went real good,” Eboigbe said. “They showed me around campus, the dorms and the facilities. It was my first time visiting Auburn and I liked it. It answered a lot of my questions and it made me feel like it could be a place I could call home.”
Eboigbe met with Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner. The two had developed a bond that they were able to strengthen during the visit.
“Coach Garner has stayed in contact with me, and I spent a lot of time with him during my visit,” Eboigbe said. “He’s real cool, a laid-back person who is going to push you. I like that he talks more about academics than stuff on the field.”
Eboigbe isn’t in a rush to make his college decision. He plans to visit more colleges and make at least one more trip to Auburn.
“I’ll be back,” Eboigbe said. “They are one of my top teams. The schools I have visited so far are the ones at the top.”
Eboigbe has visited Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State. He plans to visit Florida, Florida State, Miami and Alabama, among others.
“Over time and after I visit more schools, I’ll start to get a feel for where I am comfortable,” Eboigbe said.

FWIW LSU 247 had an article up on 4* WR Jalen Curry who visited them recently. He says that AU is in his top group along with LSU, A&M & OHST. Apparently fact we were the first to offer & how much he loved his visit 2 years ago has kept us in the race. He also like Kodi Burns. Plans to visit this summer

Sounds like AU is running 4th at best right now for Noah Cain. Luke Stampini on 247 thinks Texas is the team to beat right now with LSU & OHST chasing. Need to get Cain back on campus again in the near future

3* DE Colby Wooden visited AU this past weekend. I really like his film. He's a borderline 4* with a ton of offers. Will probably rise in the rankings over this cycle

KN says AU is looking at instate 3* DE Jamin Graham as a possible TE target. He seems open to the idea & plans to come camp with AU this summer. If AU thinks he can make the switch then he will probably land an offer. He's 6'4" 225 lbs with an 85 inch wingspan

Coolest visit so far? Top-50 recruit says it was Auburn (247)
quote:
The state of Mississippi is loaded with football talent in the 2019 class and defensive end/tackle Nathan Pickering of Seminary High is near the very top of the list.
The 6-feet-5, 270-pound Pickering is a 4-star recruit and the country's No. 46 overall prospect in the industry generated 247Sports Composite. For Auburn, here's the good news: When asked which single college trip thus far has impressed him most, Pickering pointed to the Tigers.
'Honestly, I felt that way at Auburn," Pickering said. "I mean, Auburn wasn't really a school I was just looking at but when I got on campus, it was awesome -- it was great. Their staff, their football players, everything was awesome. I went to their basketball game and I sat with the football players. They talked to me just like I was a regular player. It was fun, I had a great time."
Not only is Pickering solid on the field, he also carries a 4.0 GPA in the class.
He appears to be among Auburn's top targets for 2019. During his Feb. 3 visit for Junior Day, Pickering spent lots of one-on-one time with defensive line coach Rodney Garner and current Tigers tackle Derrick Brown. New secondary coach Marcus Woodson is his area recruiter.
Many well-known programs are chasing Pickering, so for Auburn the competition will be fierce.

Auburn's top quarterback targets in 2019 class (AL.com)
quote:
With Auburn's 2018 recruiting class signed and in the books, it's time to get familiar with a new batch of prospects. Over the next several days, AL.com will provide position-by-position look at Auburn's top targets in the 2019 recruiting cycle. Today, we're analyzing the quarterback position.

TOP QUARTERBACK TARGET
Bo Nix (6-foot-2, 194 pounds, Pinson)
Nix, the son of former Tigers quarterback Patrick Nix, committed to Auburn on Jan. 10 to give the program its second overall commitment in the 2019 class. Nix is a four-star prospect who is rated as the nation's top dual-threat quarterback and the No. 75 overall prospect in the class. As a junior at Pinson Valley, Nix missed four games due to injury but completed 196-of-307 passes for 2,872 yards, 35 touchdowns and just four interceptions while leading his team to the Class 6A state title. He was the Class 6A Back of the Year and was runner-up for Alabama's Mr. Football award.

2 MORE TO WATCH
Peter Parrish (6-foot-2, 190 pounds, Phenix City)
Parrish doesn't yet have an offer from Auburn, and it's not entirely clear if the Tigers will target a second quarterback in this class. A lot of it likely has to do with whether Jarrett Stidham sticks around for his senior season and how they feel about the depth at the position, but if the Tigers choose to add a second quarterback, Parrish could be in the mix. The three-star dual-threat prospect from Central-Phenix City is rated as the nation's No. 16 dual-threat passer, and he's considered the No. 28 player in Alabama. He was on campus this year for Auburn's junior day, and currently holds just one SEC offer: Mississippi State.

David Baldwin (6-foot-4, 214 pounds, Bradenton, Fla.)
Baldwin doesn't have an Auburn offer, but he could make sense as someone Auburn could take a look at if it wants to add a second quarterback to this class. A three-star prospect out of IMG Academy, Baldwin is rated as the nation's No. 10 dual-threat quarterback. It certainly doesn't hurt that Auburn is recruiting several of his IMG Academy teammates and former Auburn running back Carnell Williams is an assistant on the staff there. Florida, Georgia, LSU, Missouri and Ole Miss have already offered, as has Arizona.

IN-STATE GLANCE
Nix is the state's top quarterback prospect, with four-star Thompson pro-style passer Taulia Tagovailoa -- the little brother of Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa -- not far behind. Tagovailoa is expected to end up with the Tide, like his brother, while four-star Hewitt-Trussville pro-style quarterback Paul Tyson (Bear Bryant's great grandson), is also projected to end up at Alabama, according to 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions. Neither Tagovailoa or Tyson hold offers from Auburn. Parrish and Wetumpka dual-threat quarterback Jadarious Martin could also be in the mix after both attended Auburn's junior day.
Looking ahead to Auburn's current quarterbacks in 2018
Jarrett Stidham, redshirt junior; Malik Willis, sophomore.
2018 quarterback signees
Joey Gatewood, four-star (Jacksonville, Fla.)

Doesn't sound like we are very much in it with 4* OT Amari Kight. Told 247 that Bama, LSU, OKlahoma & Tennessee are in his top group. Also sounds like UGA might make a run. Strikes me as an "anywhere but AU" kid unfortunately. If Bama wants him he probably lands there....

9. AUBURN
Signed: Zakoby McClain, Michael Harris, Caleb Johnson, Josh Marsh
This is a really solid Auburn class that ranks third in the SEC and boasts 17 four-star commits among 24 overall additions. Two of those four-stars are at linebacker, with McClain and Michael Harris each ranking among the top 215 overall prospects in the class. High three-star Caleb Johnson was the Tiger’s only commitment addition on National Signing Day. And, although he is the lowest rated prospect of the group, three-star Marsh earned his offer at an Auburn summer camp after running a 4.43 40-yard dash for the coaching staff.

With so much talent on hand, there were plenty impressive performances, but only a select few can win position MVPs or earn a much-coveted invite to the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by adidas. We run through the players who won awards and earned their stripes at Sunday’s event.

OFFENSIVE LINE MVP
3* OT Chris Akporoghene
A recent transfer to IMG Academy, Akporoghene made the trip to Orlando on short notice after moving from Tennessee last month. It turned out to be a worthwhile voyage, as Akporoghene turned in an impressive performance to win offensive line MVP. A relative newcomer to football, Akporoghene flashed impressive strength, along with improved technique while also drawing praise from his position coaches for his efforts. With offers from Miami, Michigan and several others, Akporoghene’s recruitment is just starting to take off.
Keep an eye on this kid. Apparently he's a Nigerian native & has AU offer. Time to keep that pipeline flowing

WIDE RECEIVER/TIGHT END MVP
NR TE Simon Dellinger
Dellinger came to Orlando to visit UCF and decided to compete in Saturday’s adizero combine while he was in town. After earning an invite to Sunday’s camp following his performance on Saturday, Dellinger backed it up by winning the MVP award on Sunday. The tall, athletic tight end prospect has a few offers from Group of Five schools like Eastern Michigan and Ball State, but once schools get a chance to get a better look at him expect his recruitment to take off.

QUARTERBACK MVP
2020 NR QB Chayil Garnett
Garnett turned heads early with his arm strength and continued his impressive showing as the day went along. He has good size and is also known for his ability to make plays with his legs, which makes his showing in the pass-heavy camp setting even more impressive. Southern Miss recently offered Garnett and several other programs are coming to see him throw this spring, so Sunday’s showing could just be the start of things to come.
