Auburn will seriously contend for blue-chip WR Ramel Keyton from Georgia (SECCountry)
I would be very happy with a 2 man WR class of Pickens & Keyton. Said it a bunch but I think Keyton has the best hands in this class. Clemson might be tough to beat in this race but he's definitely high on AU

Georgia wide receiver shows early interest in Auburn
Just because Auburn hit a home run at receiver in the 2018 cycle doesn’t mean the Tigers will ignore the position for 2019.
Auburn is already in the hunt for 4-star wide receiver Ramel Keyton from Marietta, Ga., the No. 29 wide receiver and No. 157 overall prospect per the 247Sports composite. Ohio State, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina State are the other programs Auburn will fight in this recruitment.
Keyton attended a few Auburn games in the fall, but his most recent trip for junior day earlier this month allowed him much more personal time with coaches and players.
“I like Auburn a lot, so I just wanted to come up here. It’ll probably be one of the few I come up to,” Keyton said after junior day. “You know, trying to get more comfortable with the coaches and the staff here, instead of being here just for game days. It’s hectic. You get to sit down and talk with them.”
Most of those conversations have been with wide receivers coach Kodi Burns and running backs coach Tim Horton. Keyton also received a lot of personal attention from Auburn linebacker Deshaun Davis who spent extra time with Keyton and his family throughout his junior day visit. In fact, Davis spoke with Keyton’s parents for 30 minutes to an hour after the event was already complete.
The Tigers have made an early impression.
“They talk to me about fit. That’s one thing coach Horton says all the time. It’s all about where you fit. If I fit, I’m going to come,” Keyton said. “When I come up here, it feels like a family up here. It just feels good when I’m here.”
The 6-foot-3, 186-pound wide receiver isn’t in a hurry, however.
He’ll likely drop his top 10 to a top 5 in the spring, but admits many of the schools could shuffle around between now and then. Auburn is one program expected to be a fixture in that top group for Keyton. Ohio State and Clemson are two other safe bets, but again, most of this is fluid.
Keyton said his commitment decision will come “probably after the season,” but it wouldn’t be much after it, if he were to wait that long.

Auburn set to host weekend visitor who grew up a Tigers fan
Auburn’s full recruiting attention has turned to its 2019 class.
With National Signing Day complete, the Tigers will — aside from a potential grad transfer or two — focus on prospects who are soon to enter their senior years of high school. Several have already been on campus the last few weekends on unofficial visits and for junior day events.
Another will be there this weekend: 4-star defensive end Justin Eboigbe.
Eboigbe is the No. 9-ranked strongside defensive end and No. 135 overall prospect in the 247Sports ratings. From Forest Park, Ga., the 6-5, 260-pound prospect actually grew up idolizing Auburn players such as Bo Jackson and Cam Newton.
Those types of fandoms rarely matter in recruiting, but it’s still worth noting Auburn could have somewhat of a built-in advantage for a prospect from Georgia. Eboigbe also holds offers from Georgia, Florida and Tennessee, among others.

Auburn recruiting question of the day: Who will Tigers target on offensive line in 2019 class? (SECCountry)
quote:
Fair or not, Auburn’s recruiting classes will always be judged against the ones brought to Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Athens, Ga.
As @PearcyRyan points out, Auburn needs to emphasize the offensive line in the 2019 class. That’s clearly the position group that was lacking in the 2018 class, only bringing in two new prospects — Jalil Irvin and Kam Stutts — who will both be interior linemen for the Tigers. It follows a recruiting class in 2017 when Auburn brought in only three signees with Calvin Ashley, Nick Brahms and Austin Troxell.
In those two years, Georgia signed 10 offensive linemen and Alabama inked seven. The Bulldogs have monopolized the offensive line market some the last two seasons. Like Auburn, Alabama only signed two offensive linemen in the 2018 class. So yes, the Tigers are chasing their two main rivals some along the offensive front.
In general, however, Auburn needs to bring in a full offensive line in the 2019 class to prepare for upcoming departures — and to solidify a three-deep chart. Until assistant coaches meet with reporters during spring practice, we’ll have to rely on educated guesses for how many offensive linemen Auburn will take in the 2019 class.
My best guess is five or six.
Here’s an early look at the names to watch at tackle, guard and center. I fully expect those five or six to come from the group below, though a few new names could emerge as J.B. Grimes does his spring evaluations. It’s still a little too early to say definitively who Auburn leads for or who the Tigers are most likely to land.
But take a look at the most likely additions.

The tackles
5-star Devontae Dobbs, Belleville, Mich.
5-star Pierce Quick, Trussville, Ala. (Alabama commit)
4-star Harry Miller, Buford, Ga.
4-star Wanya Morris, Loganville, Ga.
4-star Amari Kight, Alabaster, Ala.
4-star Darius Thomas, Jonesboro, Ark.
4-star Warren McClendon, Brunswick, Ga.
4-star Michael Tarquin, Belleview, Fla.
3-star Charles Turner, Bradenton, Fla.
3-star Adrian Medley, Pensacola, Fla.
3-star Carter Colquitt, Buford, Ga.
3-star Chris Akporoghene, Bradenton, Fla.
We offered 4* Trente Jones as well. He's teammates with Wanya Morris at Grayson
Also Wolk doesn't mention Will Putnam but he told UF 247 he's high on AU & plans to visit soon

The centers
5-star Clay Webb, Oxford, Ala.
My guess is we will offer some more OGs because not sure we land anyone on that list right now. Jones maybe but he seems to be favoring Clemson & Lucas probably stays in Florida

Birmingham becomes key recruiting battleground for Alabama and Auburn in Class of 2019 (AL.com)
quote:
Maybe it's nothing, but Alabama hasn't signed a single Birmingham area football player since 2016.
When the Crimson Tide opens the 2018 season, the roster will feature just one scholarship player from the Magic City - defensive lineman and Wenonah product Quinnen Williams
Auburn, meanwhile, has signed six prospects from the Magic City during the same span, including Hoover's Shedrick Jackson, Jackson-Olin's Coynis Miller and Mountain Brook's Harold Joiner in the Class of 2018.
Does that mean Auburn has a developed a recruiting edge of Alabama in the state's largest metro area?
Probably not. Birmingham appears to be a battleground in the Class of 2019, with eight of the state's top 11 2019 prospects, according to 247sports, playing at high schools in metro Birmingham.
Both are off to a strong start.
Alabama already has a commitment from 2019 Hewitt-Trussville offensive lineman Pierce Quick, now rated a 5-star prospect, and the Crimson Tide has also offered Thompson quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa, Thompson lineman Amari Kight, Clay-Chalkville defensive lineman DJ Dale and Hewitt-Trussville's quarterback Paul Tyson, all 2019 prospects.
Auburn also has a 2019 commitment from Pinson Valley quarterback Bo Nix, an Auburn legacy whose father also played for the Tigers in the 1990s, and Hoover receiver George Pickens.
Both schools have offered uncommitted Jackson-Olin linebacker, Lavonta Bentley. Birmingham also boasts Hoover running back Larry McCammon, Fultondale linebacker Ja'Len Sims and Thompson running back Shad Byrd, all of whom are major college prospects.
Alabama, of course, recruits so well nationally that going a couple of years without signing a Birmingham kid is no big deal. Gone are the days when Alabama or Auburn focused on in-state kids if the coaching staff believes a better player from California or Hawaii or New Jersey is better.
That's why Alabama's Class of 2018 featured players from Florida, Texas, South Carolina, Utah, Connecticut, California and Pennsylvania.
Auburn's 2018 class, meanwhile, is mostly kids from the Deep South, but the Tigers again recruited well in metro Atlanta and Florida and even signed a punter from Australia.
Alabama failed to land the nation's No. 1 recruiting class for the first time in seven years, and you have to believe that's a major reason for the staff turnover at Alabama. Anyone wanting to serve on Nick Saban's staff understands that when it comes to recruiting, it's be good or be gone.
That's what makes recruiting in Birmingham so intriguing for the next year.

4-star WR impressed with first visit to Auburn (Rivals)
This was kid that told 247 a few weeks ago he was interested in AU because we had Bo Nix committed
quote:
AUBURN | Auburn has a commitment from four-star wide receiver George Pickens and is looking for at least one more at the position in the 2019 class.
Fletcher (Neptune Beach, Fla.) four-star Jeremiah Payton is one of the top targets, and one of many juniors who visited Auburn for Junior Day earlier this month.
“It was my first time (at Auburn) and it definitely was a great experience,” Payton said. “I got to see what is going on at Auburn and how much they love me. The main thing (I liked) was how much they appreciate the players and the lengths they go to make sure the players are all right.”
Payton, who is 6-foot-3 and weighs 175 pounds, met with Auburn co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Kodi Burns during the visit. The two already have developed a good relationship.
“Coach Burns has been by to see me twice,” Payton said. “I like him a lot. He’s young. He’s a dude I can relate to, and for him to be assistant offensive coordinator and receivers coach is definitely a major part in my decision.”
Payton also is familiar with Auburn quarterback signee Joey Gatewood. The two are from the same area in Florida.
“He’s a freak of nature,” Payton said of Gatewood. “He’s going to be something serious. I think the sky is the limit for anything he does.”
Payton has an early offer from Auburn, as well as ones from Miami, Florida, Louisville, Alabama, Arkansas and Georgia, among others.
“A number of schools are recruiting me really hard,” Payton said. “Miami, Auburn, Florida, Louisville, a lot of big schools.”
None, however, stand out to him at this time.
“I don’t have any top schools right now,” Payton said. “I’m sitting back and will make my decision whenever.”
Auburn did solidify itself as a contender after the visit.
“I liked it,” Payton said. “I liked it a lot. I’m definitely going to take into consideration when I sit down and think about it.”

Man LSU 247 mods sure do set their fanbase up for failure. Shea just released 2019 class prediction. Obviously this far out it won't be accurate so you would think might wanna buffer it a bit with the idea you might not get EVERYBODY you want. But that's not how LSU 247 rolls. Here's his class prediction (bolded players are current commits)
QB - 4* Grant Gunnell (#49 OVR)
RB - 4* Tyrion Davis (#196 OVR) 5* Noah Cain (#26 OVR), 4* John Emery Jr. (#66 OVR)
WR - 4* Devonta Lee (#47 OVR), 4* Trey Palmer (#87 OVR), 4* Jalen Curry (#88 OVR)
TE - 4* Ray Parker (#135 OVR)
OL - 5* Kardell Thomas (#20 OVR), 3* Thomas Perry (#384), 5* Kenyon Green (#12 OVR, former LSU Commit), 4* Javonne Shepherd (#279 OVR)
DL - 5* Ishmael Sopsher (#1 OVR), 3* Joseph Evans (#672 OVR), 4* Marcus Stripling (#108 OVR), 4* Eric Gregory (#244 OVR), 4* Nathan Pickering (#46 OVR)
LB: 5* Nakobe Dean (#22 OVR), 4* Donte Starks (#104 OVR)
DB: 4* Maurice Hampton (#121 OVR), 5* Derek Stingley (#18 OVR), 4* Devin Bush (#174), 4* Jamal Morris (#214 OVR), 4* Ishmael Burdine (#91 OVR)
K/P: 2 * Will Reichard (#3 K)
LS: 2* Quentin Skinner (#2 LS)
ATH: 4* Christian Harris (#255 OVR)
That class would currently have a score of 323.85 which is a higher score than UGA's 2018 class & would be one of the highest rated classes of all time....
Glad he's not setting them up for disappointment or anything

KN put up a VIP article on 4* ATH Mark Richards yesterday. He's been to AU three times in past few years. First visit was with his brother & former AU target Ahmmon Richards. He was at the 2017 Iron Bowl & came away impressed. Younger Richards claims that he's not a lock to Miami just because his brother is there & he's ok with leaving home. AU is recruiting him as a WR/DB & apparently is recruited by both Kodi Burns & Greg Brown. Says he doesn't have any leaders right now but AU will definitely be in the running. Wants to visit 2 more times, once in the summer & an OV during season. Won't commit till November/December if he graduates early or February if he's a summer enrollee
Not sure he's gonna leave state of FL but I do think we are are a legitimate threat. Key is to keep getting him on campus because he's probably going to visit MIA a ton over this next year

Ya and he at least wasn't predicting AU would be perfect on all their top targets. Seems insane to me to tell a fanbase coming off an 8-5 season and one of the toughest schedules coming up this season following a #14 recruiting class that you are now gonna sign the #1 OVR class & possibly the best class of all time

KN also had update on one of the top overall prospects in the 2021 class QB Aaron Mclaughlin. Expect an AU offer soon but keeps hearing from Chip Lindsey it will come. He visited for Junior Day on Feb 3rd. Apparently he's visited AU a ton & his coach at Buford now is Malik Willis's old coach. Says AU is one of his top schools & coach has high praise for AU based off what Willis has been telling him. Though his recruitment is still early he's taking it seriously & only visiting schools he's legitimately interested in. Believes he's a lot like Jarrett Stidham
This dude might end up the #1 OVR player in that 2021 class. Had no idea he was this high on us. Obviously a LONG ways away but good to know we are in this battle early.

Finally, KN has update on instate 3* ATH JD Martin who recently visited AU. Plays QB for Wetumpka but getting interest from AU & TEN as either a WR or DB. Vols have already offered & are coming after him hard. Sounds like Martin prefers WR & wants an AU offer. If we do offer probably are a real threat to land him

One of AU's top TE targets, 4* Luke Deal, is gonna visit March 3rd according to Wiltfong
