J.B. Grimes, not ranked

J.B. Grimes took over as Auburn's offensive line coach just three weeks before National Signing Day and was unable to land an offensive lineman to add to the class during that stretch. While Grimes didn't contribute to Auburn's 2018 class before Feb. 7, he still has a chance if he can help land Rice graduate transfer offensive tackle Calvin Anderson, who has the Tigers among his leaders.

Marcus Woodson, not ranked

Marcus Woodson was hired as Auburn's 10th assistant in January, meaning he spent most of the 2018 cycle recruiting for Memphis. While Woodson was not credited with landing any commits in Auburn's class this year, he is expected to make a big impact in the 2019 cycle, both when it comes to recruiting defensive backs and his home state of Mississippi, which is rich in talent in the 2019 class

Excited to see if AU can close on some of these top Mississippi kids

Kevin Steele, not ranked

Auburn's defensive coordinator Kevin Steele was not listed as the primary or secondary recruiter for any of the Tigers' 24 signees in the 2018 class, but certainly played a role in landing a quality defensive recruiting class.

Steele is the reason we have Quindarious Monday. Dude had filmed a commitment video for Clemson but had some crazy awesome talk with Steele & committed to AU then never really wavered

Chip Lindsey, 465th

Auburn offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey was ranked as the No. 465 recruiter in the nation and No. 102 among SEC assistants. Lindsey is credited with landing one recruit in the 2018 class: three-star defensive lineman Caleb Johnson, who was the Tigers' lone signing day commitment. Lindsey was Johnson's primary recruiter, though he also helped maintain a commitment from quarterback Joey Gatewood, who committed to Auburn before Lindsey was on staff.

Lindsey played a HUGE role in landing Asa Martin. Also credit him for keeping Gatewood locked in. He's an underrated recruiter

Tim Horton, 284th

Auburn running backs coach and special teams coordinator Tim Horton ranked 284th nationally and 69th among SEC assistants during the 2018 cycle. Horton, who was 45th nationally a year ago, is credited with recruiting Auburn's trio of four-star running back signees -- Harold Joiner, Asa Martin and Shaun Shivers -- as well as punter Arryn Siposs. Horton was the secondary recruiter for each of the running backs, while he is listed as the primary recruiter for Siposs, a former professional Aussie rules football player.

Greg Brown, 217th

Auburn defensive backs coach Greg Brown was ranked 217th nationally and 56th among SEC assistants after helping the Tigers land four recruits this year. Brown is listed as the primary recruiter for four-star safety Jamien Sherwood and as the secondary recruiter for four-star safety Quindarious Monday, four-star cornerback Christian Tutt and three-star cornerback Roger McCreary.

He helped keep Tutt locked down after a late push by OHST. Tutt said he felt confident in decision after having Brown take an in home visit & go over film on how they want to use him

Kodi Burns, 162nd

Auburn wide receivers coach Kodi Burns was not ranked in 2017 during his first year recruiting for the Tigers, but that changed this cycle. Burns was ranked 162nd nationally and 49th in the SEC after having a hand in signing four receivers this year. Burns was the primary recruiter for four-star receiver Matthew Hill, the Tigers' second-highest rated signee this class. He served as the secondary recruiter for four-star receivers Anthony Schwartz and Matthew Hill, as well as three-star receiver Shedrick Jackson.

Did work this class. Both Seth Williams & Anthony Schwartz kept AU in their top groups early on because of him. Almost pulled off JaMarr Chase. Probably would have if not for dad pressuring him to stay instate. Jadon Haselwood & Jashawn Sheffield are both real high on him for the 2019 class as well. He's improving as a recruiter

Larry Porter, 40th

Auburn tight ends/H-backs coach Larry Porter was the Tigers' recruiting coordinator this past year, and he came through big on the recruiting trail. Porter, in his first year at Auburn, was rated 40th nationally and 17th among SEC assistants while being credited for landing five members of Auburn's class. Porter is listed as the primary recruiter for four four-star prospects and one three-star signee. He helped land receiver Anthony Schwartz, linebacker Michael Harris, defensive end Kayode Oladele, running back Shaun Shivers and offensive lineman Jalil Irvin.

Worked his butt of behind scenes for AU. Seemed like most every AU recruit mentioned Porter in at least passing as a guy they communicate with. Hoping he helps us pull out a few of those top rated LA kids in 2019

Rodney Garner, 28th

Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner has been known for his strong closes on National Signing Day, but this year he made his impact much earlier. Garner ranked 28th nationally and 13th among SEC assistants after helping sign six members of the Tigers' class. Garner was the primary recruiter for four-stars defensive tackle Coynis Miller, running back Harold Joiner, defensive lineman Daquan Newkirk and three-star receiver Shedrick Jackson. He was also the secondary recruiter for four-star defensive end Kayode Oladele and three-star defensive lineman Caleb Johnson.

Mr Steady. Another solid class. He is basically the reason Miller chose us over Bama

Travis Williams, 12th

Auburn linebackers coach Travis Williams cleaned up during the 2018 cycle, ranking 12th nationally and sixth among SEC coaches after helping land eight signees. Williams was the primary recruiter for five four-star signees (receiver Matthew Hill, safety Quindarious Monday, linebacker Zakoby McClain, cornerback Christian Tutt and Buck defensive end Richard Jibunor) and one three-star prospect (cornerback Roger McCreary). He was also the secondary recruiter for four-star linebacker Michael Harris and three-star linebacker Josh Marsh.

Got the 2 guys he really wanted in Harris & McClain but couldn't pull in that final big piece in someone like Quay Walker or Channing Tindall. Hoping he can do that in 2019. Seems like there is always one late miss that would turn a really good class into an elite one for him (Monty Rice/Tyler Taylor in 2017, Quay Walker/Channing Tindall in 2018)

Anders Carlson/Arryn Siposs about to wreck shite with their feet

Anders apparently has a leg like his brother, but not nearly as accurate. I think he'll be a little erratic for us but will be able to drill a few long ones to get people excited.

Oh I expect there will be some bumps next year as Anders takes over. Daniel was unreal for most of his career so anything less than elite is gonna feel weird but I still expect Anders to be solid. In a few years when these guys are both more experienced I expect AU to have the best kicking game in the country

National Signing Day by position: Top RB classes (Rivals)
quote:

Some top rushers are leaving the college ranks and heading to the NFL Draft this spring, but several schools re-stocked their depth charts well via the 2018 class. Here is a ranking of the top running back classes signed by schools in this cycle.

4. AUBURN

Signed: Asa Martin, Shaun Shivers

In Martin and Shivers, Auburn lands two of the top-rated running backs in the 2018 class, who have two completely different styles. Starting with Martin, who is ranked No. 3 at the running back position behind White and Lingard, Auburn has a prospect who has a frame that will allow him to play well over 200 pounds in college and combine that with great change of direction ability. Shivers, though listed as an all-purpose back, is hard to fit into a position category. Just 5-foot-5 and 175 pounds, what he lacks in size he makes up for in playmaking ability. He will be a lot of fun for Auburn coaches to find ways to utilize his unique skill set.

National Signing Day by position: Top QB classes (Rivals)
quote:

AUBURN

Signed: Joey Gatewood

This is Jarrett Stidham’s offense for the time being and then Gatewood will have the opportunity to win the starting job. That could be perfect timing for the four-star prospect because it appears he’s starting to develop even more as a passer. With his potential being off the charts and his physical ability being borderline special, Gatewood might just need more seasoning to become an elite passer and a high-level SEC quarterback. The four-star QB won’t need to rush into a starting situation and it could be the best thing for him.

Top performers from MVP Camp Valdosta (247)
quote:

On Sunday the weather held out in Valdosta, Georgia at Lowndes high school for the annual February stop for the MVP Camps.

The numbers were smaller than the past most likely with heavy rain surrounding all of South Georgia but the talent was strong as it has been in several years.

This is camp that Mansell of UGA 247 helps run. Think it's worth monitoring some of these names as some sleepers usually emerge for this event

Kendrick Patterson

How this 2020 QB has no offers is beyond me. He checked in a 6-foot-3, 194 pounds on Sunday was straight dealing. No question he is a dual-threat but his accuracy on deep balls had the coaching staff shaking their head all day long, he was plain and simple money.

A new name to all in the recruiting industry the 2019 DT from Perry was dominant at defensive tackle. He measured in at 6-foot-3, 315 pounds.

Filing this name away. He's got the measurements Garner likes & being in GA means chance he could become a target

South Carolina recently offered this 2020 OL from Pierce County. They will not be the last SEC offer for him. He measured in little of 6-foot-3 and 278 pounds. He plays tackle for his school but will project long term at OG.

Micah Morris

Hard to believe this young man is a freshman at 6-foot-5, 276 pounds on Sunday, he has the frame to carry 315 easily, very easily down the line. Has early offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia and others already at Camden County.
