KN put up an insider on his CB pick for Curry last night, here's summary
- Curry originally planned to wait until early signing day to make his announcement but concern is top schools might fill up before then. There's a chance now a decision could come in the next week or two
- KN believes Curry is a take for AU. If they take Curry the only way they take a 4th WR is if it's Jadon Haselwood
- Curry & his dad clicked well with Gus & Chip but also came away really impressed with AU's business & engineering schools. He might major in either
- AU feels good about where they stand with Curry after OV
- The other schools to watch are LSU, FSU & TEN. LSU is focusing on some instate options, KN says Curry is high on AU than the Vols but mystery around where he stands with FSU
- Curry is close with Kam Martin & AU target 4* RB Noah Cain
- Based off his intel & fact that A&M recruiting reporter Brian Perroni who is well connected in Texas CB'd Curry to AU, KN has AU as the current pick

Top OL target Keiondre Jones recaps rising Auburn interest after last week’s official visit (SECCountry)
quote:
AUBURN, Ala. — Few 2019 prospects, if any, have been on Auburn’s campus more than 4-star guard Keiondre Jones.
The Hogansville, Ga., lineman has been on campus midweek, on weekends, at events, for spring practices and last week on his official visit. He was back on Auburn’s campus Thursday to watch his Callaway 7-on-7 team play. Offensive linemen don’t participate in 7-on-7, but Jones wanted to be at Auburn anyway.
With his official visit in the rearview mirror, Jones’ presence was an indication of his Auburn interest.
“Auburn’s definitely one of the schools I’m really high on right now. I enjoy it every time I come here. I’ve obviously come down here a lot. I have a really good time here,” Jones said. “I think they really started, earlier on, they weren’t really recruiting me as hard. They really just started to recruit me, and I got a better look at the program. It’s a program I wouldn’t mind playing for.”
As a regular, there isn’t much at Auburn left for Jones to see for the first time. Official visits often provide new opportunities. Jones has seen all of that, as far as the campus and facilities go.
His official visit was more about relationship building. He spent most of his time with Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown.
“It was a lot of the stuff I’ve went through and seen before. But it was really just time getting to spend around the players and see how they act and how the actual family atmosphere was,” Jones said. “Me and Derrick was talking for most of it. We’ve got a lot in common.”
Jones “hopes” to make a decision before the start of his senior season. Before that, he will take an official visit to Florida. That’s all he has set up for the time being, which bodes well for the Tigers. One source indicated that Auburn is most concerned about Clemson, which doesn’t host summer official visitors.
Jones isn’t ready to name any leaders. He’ll most likely make those choices with his mother during the upcoming recruiting dead period.
“Me and mama, when the dead period comes, we’re going to sit down and really get to it talking about some of the visits we’ve been to,” Jones said. “I don’t really have a leader right now, but [Auburn is] definitely really, really high.”

Auburn DL target Colby Wooden talks decision timeline, friendship with 5-star CB (SECCountry)

Colby Wooden talks timeline, friendship with 5-star CB
Every cycle, there are a few players whose recruiting rankings don’t make much sense. It’s the nature of the beast, attempting to rate thousands of prospects, most of whom will end up in the Division I ranks. All the rankings won’t be spot-on.
That’s why, beyond the rankings, it’s valuable to assess a prospect by the quality of the programs recruiting him.
Archer (Ga.) defensive lineman Colby Wooden might be the best proof of that in the 2019 class.
Wooden ranks as a 3-star prospect, the No. 461 overall player in the nation. That is subject to change, and I expect it will. Wooden, however, is a highly coveted prospect for Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Tennessee, Florida and Florida State. To me, that tells a much fuller story than any ranking.
And this bodes well for Auburn: The Tigers are at or near the top of Wooden’s interest list.
“Auburn’s high up on the list. I really love it. It’s the environment. It’s the coaches. It’s the players. It’s a place I love being and could see myself playing,” Wooden said. “I’d say the coaches and how I feel when I’m here. I love the environment. There’s something about the feeling. Plus, the other recruits-slash-players keep putting it in my ear.”
Those players in his ear the most? Linebacker commit Owen Pappoe and junior defensive tackle Derrick Brown.
Pappoe is the driving force from the 2019 class who is convincing Wooden to join the Tigers. Brown is a player already on Auburn’s roster who knows what it’s like to be a top target from metro Atlanta who found success on the Plains.
That decision for Wooden will come in the summer. He said August is likely, but the July dead period isn’t out of the question if he feels ready to make a decision. When that decision is made, it will be final.
“No, once I commit, that’s it. No more visits, unofficial or official,” Wooden said.
Wooden is high school teammates with 5-star cornerback Andrew Booth. Auburn, Clemson and Georgia are the three programs battling it out most for both of those prospects. One source close to both said it feels as if Auburn is in the driver’s seat for Booth and Wooden, but the battle isn’t over.
As for Wooden, he would love to play with Booth in college, but they’re making separate decisions.
“Oh yeah, that’s my brother. We talk about it from time to time, but we’re going to do whatever our hearts are at. That’s what we need to do for ourselves,” Wooden said. “But yeah, it’d be cool to keep playing together.”

Auburn 7-on-7 passing camp notes
Here are a few notes from the 7-on-7 passing camp that took place Thursday:
- There was more talent this year than in recent years. Thirty-five teams participated in the camp. The field included programs such as Pinson Valley (Ala.), Thompson (Ala.), Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.), Colquitt County (Ga.), Eagle’s Landing (Ga.), Auburn (Ala.), Opelika (Ala.), Daphne (Ala.), Troup County (Ga.) and Callaway (Ga.).
- The last school mentioned on that list, Callaway, was intriguing but not for the purposes of 7-on-7. Callaway guard Keiondre Jones visited for the day. That’s a fairly big development given the fact he was just on campus last weekend on an official visit. He will head to Florida on Saturday for his official there. My sources indicate Auburn leads No. 2 Clemson for the time being.
- Auburn quarterback commit Bo Nix looked sharp, but his team fell in the semifinals to Central. Alabama quarterback commit Taulia Tagovailoa is very impressive in a 7-on-7 setting. He makes all the throws and does so with composure and ease.
- Auburn coaches watched closely to see the performance of new wide receiver commit Ja’Varrius Johnson. They were quite pleased. Johnson is a special player whose ranking will leap big-time in the next few months.

3 tackles will visit Auburn this weekend
It’s been reported that 5-star tackle Devontae Dobbs will officially visit Auburn this weekend. That hasn’t changed. But he won’t be the only tackle to visit this week.
I’ve reported that Rhode Island tackle Xavier Truss planned to return to Auburn in June. He will make that trip this weekend. Truss will arrive on the Plains on Friday.
IMG Academy tackle and TCU commit Justin Osborne also plans to take an official visit to Auburn this weekend. He’s a prospect the Tigers have been working on for a few months.
KN says AU is REALLY high on Osborne

Also don't think I mentioned it with Diabate but AU is recruiting him as a pure LB. Thought he might end up a Buck target

Says he's going to be a walk on, but still has to sit out a year. I thought it you transferred and walked on, you could play immediately.
quote:Yup. Plus walk on who play before they have been at the walk on school for 2 full years have to count to a yearly 25 initial counter limit. We don't have room on the 2018 limit to play him this year even if transfers didn't have to sit a full year.
when you transfer, unless you have already graduated, you have to sit one year. ETA He will just redshirt the year he sits. He will have three years of eligibility after his redshirt season.
I think KHH ends up going on scholly in January & counting to the 2019 class.

quote:From reading the article Caldwell wrote yesterday I think AHS has not used him in coverage much. I think the AU staff has seen everything they wanted to from him as a pass rusher & thought other guys were better at that like Derick Hall & Colby Wooden. When Gus offered MD yesterday he felt bad for not doing so sooner & said he didn't know MD was versitile & could do so many things well. Meaning having good coverage skills as well as rush the passer.

We are recruiting MD for the SAM backer which I believe is the spot Darrel Williams has played.

Top Performers: Auburn 7-on-7 Passing Tournament (247)
quote:
AUBURN, Ala. -- Nearly 40 high schools were represented on Thursday at Auburn University, competing in 7-on-7 action from morning until nightfall. In between, there was an offensive/defensive line competition as hundreds of players put in work on a bevy of fields, culminating with the championship game at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Phenix City (Ala.) Central would hold on to defeat Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson thanks to a big early lead and late defensive stand on a two-point conversion attempt to claim the crown from Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn. Leading up to that point, several college football prospects caught our attention at 247Sports.
Prospects are not listed in any particular order and are listed based solely on Thursday's effort.

quote:
Bo Nix - What more can be said about Bo? The Pinson (Ala.) Pinson Valley quarterback led his team nearly all the way to the championship on his future home stadium turf. The four-star Auburn pledge did so with a variety of launch angles and wow plays mixed into his usual, consistent, take-what-the-defense-gives-him mentality. But Nix was willing to take more risks at this event, showcasing more arm strength than often given credit for, and it resulted in a deep run that shouldn't have ended in the semifinal considering his would-be game winner of a throw was dropped by the intended target in the end zone. The future Tiger went over and pulled up the intended target, embarrassed by the mistake, immediately after it went down to encourage him to focus on the next step instead of the previous.

Taulia Tagovailoa - Comparisons to his big brother aside, the Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson star continues to showcase a very strong arm and equally quick release in every setting this offseason. Leading the Warriors to the title game out of a deep field of high school teams from three states, no passer created more buzz than the Alabama commitment on the day. Folks who have seen him for years were impressed just as much as those seeing him in action for the first time with the drive on the ball, touch down the field and ability to fit the ball into tight windows. He also helped some new wide receiver targets emerge for the first time, particularly the guy who probably caught more passes than any other on the day in slot talent Kyle Smoak. The Tagovailoa vs. Nix Iron Bowl preview never materialized, but the duo was best in show once again.

quote:
Peter Parrish/Tucker Melton - The group that beat both standout QBs was a combination effort from Phenix City (Ala.) Central High School. The champion Red Devils won it on the 2019 arm, Parrish, as well as the 2020 arm of Melton, who has yet to collect his initial offer despite plenty of arm strength on a 6-foot-3 frame. Parrish was the steadier of the two on the short to intermediate routes, taking what the defense presented, while Melton was trying to push the football down the field (often successfully) at any given turn. Parrish has come a long way in the last year with his throwing motion and accuracy and Melton's big arm was the clincher in the championship run, capped by a dime, over-the-shoulder throw on a wheel route to extend a late lead.
