Auburn quarterback commit Joey Gatewood spent much of the day recruiting wide receiver target Justyn Ross and running back target Asa Martin. He said he feels confident with both players. Gatewood also reassured that he has no doubts about his commitment. In fact, he said he “never really had any doubts.” Gatewood will stay overnight.

5-star wide receiver Justyn Ross got a big smile on his face when asked about Auburn’s willingness the throw the ball around the field on Saturday. He also mentioned the importance of getting to spend time with a quarterback commit at a school he’s considering. His relationship with Gatewood will certainly play a factor.
So glad Ross got to see that aerial display. Trying so hard not to get hopes up but I do think we are team to beat right now. Need this offense to keep rolling like that when the season comes around

4-star RB Harold Joiner, who picked up an Alabama offer this week, said his top two remains the same — LSU and Auburn. Ole Miss is probably next in line there. The Crimson Tide haven’t made it clear what position they want him at. LSU has made early playing time and the running back position more clear than other programs.
Just lie to this dude and tell em we only want em at RB and he's the future of the program. That's smoke LSU blowing up his arse right now and it's got em in first. I want this kid and Master Teague

Auburn adds A-Day commitment (Rivals)
quote:
Brooks offensive guard Kameron Stutts couldn’t wait. The three-star recruit from Killen didn’t want to prolong it anymore.
Stutts decided he wanted to play at Auburn, so he announced his choice Saturday prior to the Tigers’ A-Day game.
“I decided on the way up here that I was ready to commit,” Stutts said. “The last time I came up here I said that whenever you go somewhere, you can feel it that’s the place for you to be. I knew when I came here.”
Stutts visited Auburn March 7 and left with the Tigers high on his list of favorites. He decided during a four-hour drive to Auburn Saturday morning that Auburn was his only favorite.
“I was just ready,” Stutts said. “It’s a great place with great people. It’s an awesome atmosphere with great fans. I really enjoy it.”
Stutts informed Auburn offensive line coach Herb Hand during a telephone conversation. He let Gus Malzahn in on the news after arriving at Auburn for A-Day.
“I told Coach Hand that I was ready,” Stutts said. “And then I told Coach Malzahn when I got here and he ran in and gave me a big hug.”
Hand and Malzahn both were instrumental in Stutts’ decision.
“The coaches are all really personable,” Stutts said. “They are good people. They are friendly. They are like everyone else.”
Stutts chose Auburn after considering offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Missouri and Virginia Tech, among others. He is the second offensive guard to commit to Auburn, joining Jalil Irvin from Stephenson in Stone Mountain, Ga.
“I might still go and check out some stuff, but I’m not changing,” Stutts said. “I’m 100-percent committed.”
Stutts, who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 320 pounds, is the Tigers’ fourth commitment in the 2018 class, joining Irvin, running back Shaun Shivers and quarterback Joey Gatewood.

In-state WR commits to Auburn (Rivals)
quote:
Cordova wide receiver Kolbi Fuqua will sign with Auburn.
Fuqua, who is ranked the No. 14 player in Alabama, announced his commitment to the Tigers on Saturday.
“I love it down here,” Fuqua said. “It’s family. I love the coaches and how they treat the players. I love the surroundings. It reminds me of home.”
Fuqua made his decision after visiting Auburn and watching the Tigers’ spring game. It helped that sophomore quarterback Jarrett Stidham completed 16-of-20 passes for 267 yards.
“I love the new quarterback,” Fuqua said. “He can throw. He’s good. And I like the new offense that Coach (Chip) Lindsey put in. They passed the ball a lot and that is something that I like and enjoy.”
Fuqua also cited the Tigers’ coaches as playing pivotal roles in his decision.
“The coaches treat me like one of their own already,” Fuqua said.
Fuqua grew up an Alabama fan, but his allegiance officially shifted on Saturday. It’s now the same as his mother’s.
“My mom loves Auburn,” Fuqua said.
And so does he.
“I’ve known for a little while that I really liked it,” Fuqua said. “I really like Auburn and feel very good about my commitment.”
Fuqua, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 210 pounds, had 59 receptions for 1,011 yards (17.1 avg.) and seven touchdowns as a junior.
He is Auburn’s fifth commitment in the 2018 class and second of the day. Brooks offensive guard Kameron Stutts committed to Auburn prior to the Tigers’ spring game.

Auburn lands A-Day commitment from Kameron Stutts (AL.com)

Brooks offensive lineman Kameron Stutts committed to Auburn Saturday prior to the team's A-Day spring scrimmage.
Stutts announced his decision on Twitter and was later seen inside Jordan-Hare Stadium prior to kickoff.
"Well it's been awesome," Stutts wrote. "I couldn't have ask (sic) for a better support group. Thanks to my Mom, and the rest of my family, coaches, my amazing teammates, and most of all God. Thanks to all the coaches who recruited me and gave me opportunities, but I found the one best for me. I have decided to continue at Auburn University!"
Stutts is ranked as a three-star prospect and the nation's No. 48 offensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite. He also holds offers from Dartmouth, Duke, Iowa State, Jacksonville State, Memphis, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Troy and Virginia Tech.
Stutts becomes the fifth member of Auburn's 2018 recruiting class, fellow offensive lineman Jalil Irvin, quarterback Joey Gatewood, all-purpose back Shaun Shivers and defensive end Daquan Newkirk.
"Their offensive line coach (Herb Hand) has been really nice to me and talking to me a lot," Stutts told AL.com last month. "It's a good football program, everybody knows that. It's a good school in general. It has a nice campus and (offers) a good education."

Auburn lands 2nd commitment of day in Cordova's Kolbi Fuqua (AL.com)
quote:
About an hour after Auburn's spring game, Kolbi Fuqua made up his mind.
The standout athlete from Cordova was committing to Auburn, his leader for a while now. He confirmed the news around 5 p.m. on Saturday and became Auburn's second commitment of the day behind Kameron Stutts, an offensive lineman from Brooks.
"I love the family down here," Fuqua said. "I love the way the coaches treat the players. I love the surroundings. It reminds me of home.
"I kind of knew for a while back, but I just wanted to make up my mind."
The 6-foot-2, 209-pound Fuqua is a three-star athlete. He plays receiver and safety for Cordova, but will be a receiver for Auburn.
Fuqua is Auburn's sixth commitment for the class of 2018.
"I loved the new quarterback," Fuqua said of Jarrett Stidham. "He can throw. He's good. (The visit) was good. I liked it. I saw the new offense that Coach (Chip) Lindsey put in and I liked it. He passed the ball a lot, which is what I really enjoy.
Fuqua picked Auburn over Florida State and Mississippi State. He said coach Herb Hand was his primary recruiter.
Fuqua had 59 catches for 1,011 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior. He also had seven interceptions and 114 total tackles.
Fuqua is also a standout basketball player. Check out his junior highlights.

Auburn makes big step in recruitment of 4-star Hewitt-Trussville OL Pierce Quick (AL.com)
quote:
There were a line of recruits around the corner of one end zone at Jordan-Hare Stadium for Auburn's A-Day.
Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn made it a point to find two 2019 offensive linemen - Pierce Quick of Hewitt-Trussville and Clay Webb of Oxford.
"That was huge, having him come over and talk to us," said Quick, a 6-foot-5, 280-pound four-star offensive tackle. "With all those other guys standing around and for him to pick us out and talk to us, that was awesome. He just told us that we were his two guys for the offensive line in 2019 and that was awesome."
Quick has said that Alabama was his leader, but Auburn made up some huge ground on his third trip.
"I would have to say yes (Alabama led), but Auburn was definitely close behind," Quick said. "I would say, after today, they are probably equal."
It won't be just an Alabama-Auburn battle for Quick. He has already told Oregon assistant Mario Cristobal that he'll visit the Ducks this summer. Quick also wants to visit Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Texas.
Quick's next trip will likely be to Alabama's A-Day on April 22.
"I just want to see them a few more times and see other schools before I make (a decision), because it's so early," Quick said. "If I found the perfect school for me then yes (I would commit thi summer), but I don't know when it'll be."
Quick said he was impressed with the offensive line, and noted it should be even better with graduate transfers Casey Dunn and Wilson Bell coming in this fall.
"This trip was great because this was my first time to see them play," Quick said. "They looked really good. I think they'll make a really good run this year, for sure. Stidham was throwing the ball on the money."
