So is he a low 4* like a 91 indicates or a borderline 5* like people on here are acting like?

Here's 247 rating breakdown

quote:

10 - 101 = Franchise Player. One of the best players to come along in years, if not decades. Odds of having a player in this category every year is slim. This prospect has "can’t miss" talent.
100 - 98 = Five-star prospect. One of the top 30 players in the nation. This player has excellent pro-potential and should emerge as one of the best in the country before the end of his career.
97 - 90 = Four-star prospect. One of the top 300 players in the nation. This prospect will be an impact-player for his college team. He is an All-American candidate who displays pro-potential.
89 - 80 = Three-star prospect. One of the top 10% players in the nation. This player will develop into a reliable starter for his college team and is among the best players in his region of the country.
79 - below = Two-star prospect. This player makes up the bulk of Division I rosters. He may have little pro-potential, but is likely to become a role player for his respective school.

Personally I think they have him criminally underrated. He's still ranked the #5 overall QB in the 2019 class and #2 dual threat but should have a higher rating imo

But to answer your question closer to a 3* than 5* on those ratings. Long ways till 2019 NSD so I suspect that number will continue to rise

KN has article up on 3* S Cameron Jonas who landed an offer yesterday. Said he's really excited and Auburn is an "awesome program". He's never been to AU but plans to visit this summer. Says right now the three schools that stand out are AU, FSU & USF.

AU leads for McClain, but 2 SEC programs pushing (247)
quote:

The dad of 4-star linebacker Zakoby McClain wants his son to pick a college where the coaches can be father-like figures in McClain’s life.

Said McLain: “I think they’ve got that at Auburn.”

The Tigers offered the Valdosta (Ga.) standout in early March and less than four weeks later he named them his leader following last Saturday’s visit to the school.

One reason for that: His relationship with linebackers coach Travis Williams.

“He’s cool,” McClain said. “He keeps it real with me. He told me I’d have a chance to start. I’ve just got to work hard for it.”

The 6-feet-1, 197-pound McClain is the No. 12 outside backers in the 247Sports Composite.

Besides his relationship with Williams, he said he fits in with the players at Auburn and likes the role the Tigers have pegged for him.

“They say I’ll be playing everything, but they’re going to try to get me to play outside because I can cover receivers,” McClain said. “I think I can fit into the defense.”

Auburn, though, has some competition to land McClain, namely South Carolina and LSU at the moment.

“The lead isn’t that big, they’re just No. 1 for now,” McClain said.

With the Gamecocks, McClain’s staff at Valdosta is close with South Carolina coach Will Muschamp and his crew.

“I went into (Muschamp’s office) and talked to him,” McClain said. “He liked that I was fast and I ain’t scared to hit anybody. I’m a competitor.”

When might we see a commitment from McClain?

“Maybe by August,” he said.

That's a bit of a change as he claimed this weekend AU lead by a big margin. Guessing he came down from visit high but we still #1
