Ya'll ready to talk 2020 recruiting? As much as I pride myself on being aware of next wave of talent, I don't yet have much on the 2020 class because I am not yet that obsessive

One to Watch in the Region:
Bryan Bresee, DT, DaMascus (Md.)
Bresee's offer list already includes Alabama, Ohio State and Penn State. He plays defensive end but will likely grow into a defensive tackle in college. He is twitched up, fires off the ball quickly and remains low. For a player entering his sophomore season, his technique is very good. He has quick hands, and the strength to disengage. -Brian Dohn

MIDLANDS
One to Watch in the Region:
Jase McClellan, RB, Aledo (Texas)
McClellan burst on the scene helping to lead Aledo (Texas) High to a state championship win. McClellan was named the offensive player of the championship game after rushing for 98 yards on 13 carries. He finished the season with 1,528 yards and 20 touchdowns and was named the Scout All-Midlands Freshman of the Year. The then 14-year old McClellan showed a well-rounded skill set that was headlined by his burst and explosion. McClellan showed a high level of maturity for being able to finish runs and score touchdowns. McClellan has already committed to Oklahoma. -Greg Powers

One to Watch in the Region:
Justin Rogers, OL, Oak Park (Mich.)
I think the Midwest's top guy is still up for debate and with these kids only just starting their sophomore season, there is still plenty of time for someone to lay claim, but right now, the top guy in my mind is Justin Rogers from Oak Park (Mich.). He is a great athlete and has been impressive in games and at camps. He has an Ohio State offer among others, but I think he will get a lot more during the season. He plays right tackle, but I think he could project as a top national guy at guard too. -Allen Trieu

One to Watch in the Region:
Harrison Bailey, QB, Marietta (Ga.)
Bailey is another one of these quarterbacks with early hype, and understandably so. His frame turns heads before he even touches a football at a legit 6-foot-5, 220 pounds and he spins the ball like the pro-style prototype his body suggests he is. Bailey has a very strong arm and can deliver a strike from multiple arm angles, with enough accuracy and ability to get through early progressions to make every spot on the field a potential target area. He is getting more consistent on when to take something off of the ball as he matures, though just about every other QB trait he possesses is beyond his years. By the time he is ready for college, Bailey would have been a four-year starter at ascending Marietta (Ga.) High, a program college coaches can't miss during evaluation periods. -John Garcia

One to Watch in the Region:
Sav'ell Smalls, DE, Seattle (Wash.) Garfield
We first saw Smalls as an 8th grader at the Northwest Showcase and he was routinely beating 2017 linemen in the 1on1's and we knew then he'd be a player to watch. His freshman year, he had double-digit sacks and his recruitment took off shortly after the season when hometown Washington offered. Since then, Smalls has added offers from programs like Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame and USC and could contend for the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2020 class and right now, is the top prospect in the West heading into his sophomore season. -Brandon Huffman

South Carolina commit Josh Vann, Auburn commit Michael Harris enjoy teammate competition for key target Dylan Wonnum (SECCountry)
quote:
Michael Harris vs. Josh Vann begins in race for OT
Dylan Wonnum finds himself in an interesting position as a recruit.
The offensive lineman from Tucker (Ga.) has two schools emerging from the rest, Auburn and South Carolina. That isn’t that rare. But what makes Wonnum’s situation a little different is the fact two of his closest high school teammates — Josh Vann and Michael Harris — are each committed to one of Wonnum’s top two.
Vann and Harris will now be as vocal as anyone in Wonnum’s recruitment.
“I think I’ll hear from both. They like to go back and forth,” Wonnum said.
When Vann committed to South Carolina two weekends ago, my first question to him was: How does this change your role in recruiting?
As is often the case, the recruit admits to becoming the recruiter. Vann keyed in on a couple guys he’d like to join him in South Carolina’s 2018 class. He immediately named his high school teammate.
“I’m trying to get Dylan down there,” Vann said, laughing. “But Michael will probably be like that, too. It happens. It’s his decision, so we’ll see.”
Harris knows Vann will provide a worthy challenge.
The Auburn linebacker commit feels like the Tigers are in pretty good position to land Wonnum. But he also knows South Carolina is a major threat. On top of that, Vann’s sales skills are top-notch, Harris says.
“Josh, man, I don’t know,” Harris said. “I know he’ll try to convince Dylan to give him someone on the offensive side to help block to get him the ball.”
Harris has his own come-to-Auburn pitch for Wonnum.
“I’m going to let Dylan know that, hey, I’m going to need someone to go hard up against on that offensive side. Because you know I’m going hard on that defensive side,” Harris said. “It’s going to be a great battle trying to convince Dylan and see where his head’s at, because Dylan’s hard to get answers out of, to be honest.”
Wonnum has said previously he might not make a decision until December, but it’s possible he pulls the trigger as early as late September or early October.

Ten Most Wanted (247)
quote:
AuburnUndercover presents Auburn’s 10 most wanted prospects for the class of 2018. To compile this, we’ve considered where each player sits on the Auburn board, Auburn's need at the position, the Tigers' chances of landing the prospect as well as the player’s skill set. This list is extremely fluid. In recruiting, things can change on both sides in an instant. At this time, Auburn’s recruiting board continues to shift (so look for this list to change dramatically in the future). New offers have gone out monthly. After a flurry of action, Auburn has 13 commitments at the moment. At this time, we expect the Tigers to sign slightly fewer than the max (without back-counting) of 25 but the exact target won’t be known for several months.

quote:
1. Justin Fields, QB: Even though Auburn already has a quarterback on the commit list (Joey Gatewood), the transfers of backups Woody Barrett and Tyler Queen have made it important to land another. Fields is the top target. It's a three-team race between Auburn, FSU and Georgia. Most of the chatter is about the 'Noles and Dawgs, but Auburn remains a contender. Fields said he plans to watch these teams closely this season before making a decision. Could a big year from the Tigers help? Fields will attend the FSU-Alabama on Saturday. No word yet if he'll attend any Auburn games.

quote:
2. Coynis Miller, DT: Miller calls Florida his leader with Auburn in the No. 2 spot -- but the Tigers have a good shot to pull this off. He has visited Auburn more than any other program and that helps. So does the fact former teammate Tadarian Moultry plays for the Tigers. Miller probably won't announce a decision until after the season. He's arguably Auburn's most important defensive target.
Posted on 8/30/17 at 7:59 am to TigerPaw1
quote:
3. Richard Jibunor, Buck: Auburn has to have a pass rusher (or two) in this class and Jibunor is probably the biggest target at the buck position. The Tigers look like the team to beat for the 4-star prospect largely because of the strong relationships the Tigers have built with him. He could have a decision within the next month. You have to like Auburn's chances at the moment.

4. Kyler McMichael, CB: McMichael committed to Clemson earlier this year but Auburn never stopped recruiting him. Auburn would have a shot should he open up his recruitment. It's important the Tigers land an elite corner in this class.

quote:
5. Dylan Wonnum, OT: The Tucker (Ga.) 4-star recruit calls Auburn his leader but South Carolina is close behind and you can't count out LSU either. His brother plays for the Gamecocks. Wonnum said recently he isn't likely to announce a commitment until after the season. Look for him to attend multiple games at Jordan-Hare Stadium this season.
Posted on 8/30/17 at 8:00 am to TigerPaw1
quote:
6. Trey Hill, OG: Auburn could use at least two more offensive linemen in the class and Hill is the dream get at gaurd. He visited Auburn with just about his entire immediate family in July and that was his third time on campus this year -- and at least his 10th overall. Clemson, FSU and Georgia are the others to watch. Hill likely will attend a game or two at Auburn this season.
Posted on 8/30/17 at 8:00 am to TigerPaw1
quote:
7. JJ Peterson, LB: Alabama leads with Auburn and Georgia next. Oregon is another program to watch. Peterson has visited the Tigers three times this year and is extremely close with Auburn linebackers coach Travis Williams. Will that be enough to overtake the Tide? It won't be easy.

8. Quay Walker, LB: The Alabama commit is high on Auburn's wishlist and there are some who don't think his commitment is rock solid. If Walker doesn't end up at Alabama than Auburn and FSU could be the teams to watch and possibly Georgia, too. That Auburn has his former teammate, Big Kat Bryant, certainly helps. Walker plans to visit the Tigers this season.

9. Andres Fox, DE: This is a difficult recruitment to get a handle on. There are four teams in it: Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Stanford. LSU seems to be the most confident at this time. Fox has no set timeframe on when a decision might come. Some programs (see LSU, Alabama) see him as a linebacker. Auburn projects him at end. At around 250 pounds, his future might very well be inside.

quote:
t10. Seth Williams and Justyn Ross, WRs: These two practically are interchangeable. They are similar in size and ability. And the Tigers are very much in the hunt with both. At this time, Auburn appears to have a better shot with Willams (pictured). The Tigers really like their chances with him. For Ross, they'll have to fight off Alabama and Clemson for a commitment. Would Auburn take both if it can? Probably.

KN put out a recruiting insider last night. Here's summary
- AU continues to push for 4* CB Kyler McMichael (Clemson commit) & there continues to be buzz his commitment is not firm. AU/UGA would be the expected top two competitors if he opened things up. Look for AU to scout him in person some time this September. Apparently his parents really like AU. KN believes he's AU's top target at CB
- Good chance AU gets 4* TE Luke Ford to take an official visit but keep an eye on 3* TE Nic McTear. He's a former Oklahoma State commit that is in communication with AU. Believed to be a good fit in our offense and he has family in the southeast. He will probably officially visit sometime this fall & KN says AU has made a nice push
- Apparently AU continues to feel good about getting 4* WR Seth Williams and 4* DT Coynis Miller. Both will be visiting Saturday. Apparently other AU commits are confident in getting Miller & Williams continues to say we are recruiting him the hardest
- Sounds like if AU sends a coach on the road this Friday (evaluation period starts in September) it would only be one and would be a defensive coach to state of GA. Weather might prevent them from doing that
- AU is probably done at RB spot though that can always change. Still, AU will continue to evaluate Harold Joiner as he's a guy that could play multiple positions. As of now, Bama & LSU are teams to watch. (FWIW I think he lands at Bama now)
- Keep an eye on 3* LB Caleb Johnson. He's projected to play DL at next level (6'3" 250 lbs) & AU has been evaluating him. Wanted him to camp this summer but didn't happen. But AU still recruiting. UGA/TEN also involved
- 5* QB Justin Fields was in Athens this past weekend and will be at Bama/FSU game. He's also got planned visits already for FSU & UGA. AU working on setting up a visit but not many enticing home games at start of season. Fields has seen an AU game before as he was at the AU/ARK beatdown last season. September 30th might be option when AU hosts Mississippi State. He will be in Athens week before for their MSU game. Continues to say that he plans on waiting to see his top teams perform before making a decision. KN later updated to say that Fields wants to make it to an AU game this fall
