I love Riley's offense, but till he proves he can combine it with a good defense I wouldn't consider him.

I don't have a preference other than somebody who will play a brand of offense that suits Ryan perfectly and is an all around excellent coach.
The Falcons have hired quite a few HCs who came in as the most sought after hires in the game. Quinn was everybody's choice, including mine.
It's going to take great judgment, not just a surface glance. I'd like to see Blank put together a panel of great football minds, pay them enough to where he can bring in the very best, then take their collective advice.

The smart, steady play here is Josh McDaniels. I'd be thrilled with him, considering he's an incredible schemer offensively, he'd tap a bright defensive coach, and, he knows how to run a winning organization year in and out.

I think he's learned from his Denver mistakes, and will be better served for it.

McDaniels has been caught cheating twice, I do love his experience in the Pats' offense though. Ryan would be excellent in that scheme IMO.
That said, I'm done trying to project NFL HC success based on their work as an assistant. As I posted earlier I'd hire a panel of the best available experts in the world to review, interview, poke and probe before concluding a candidate is the very best option. We've seen at least 4 hires who came in as the hottest HC prospects in the business, none of those hires ended well.
