How does Isopure taste? Using synths 6 now as a meal replacement.

On Jan 5 I weighed 273.6lbs. This morning I'm down to 264lbs. Would like to keep that rate of weight loss up for 50 weeks (I know, that's a bit unrealistic).

It's actually not bad. I have the chocolate, and I mix it with skim milk. It doesn't blend real well though just mixing it with a spoon. I put a few pieces of ice in the ninja blender, and it's a perfect consistency.

I usually fill up a jug at a time, and just give it a quick shake when I'm ready for one. It stays well blended for the day or even two.

Well that's 9.6 lbs every 10 days, so if you kept it up for 50 weeks, you'd weigh -72 lbs.

Congrats!

Have you been eating any carbs? Because that's the only way I can lose 5 lbs/week, but it makes me really bitchy!

Ehh, my nerve block wore off so it sucks for the time being, but it'll be okay soon. All worth it in the name of no more crutches. Haha. Thanks for asking!

Congrats on your progress, SLC!

Meant to say 50lbs, doesn't matter I've slowed down considerably. Probably better to lose 1-2 lbs a week anyway.

Any runners here? As previously mentioned, I hate running, but I'm trying to embrace it. Trying to figure out the best way to get better.

As of right now, I've chosen a set pace (15 minute mile - yes, I'm slow), and I'm just building up my endurance. Today was 20 minutes without stopping. Hopefully be closer to 25 minutes by the end of the week. I'll gradually increase it, then work on increasing my speed. Is this a decent approach, or should I be trying to increase my speed at the same time as my endurance?

It's really up to you, I don't think it matters that much. The most important thing is that you're actually running and working to improve--how exactly you go about that is much less important. I personally would just go with whatever is easier to keep track of.

Sometimes it helps if you jump onto an actual program. One that I've heard endorsed by many people is the Couch-to-5k program, which you can view here.

The great thing about this program is that it defines a way for you to progress gradually without overdoing it when you're starting out. It lets you alternate between walking and running, but still gives you a lengthy workout at the beginning of the program (20 minutes total).

Oh yeah that makes sense.

1-2 lbs a week is completely reasonable and also probably safer. I think losing weight really quickly can be hard on your kidneys. It's probably wise to consult your doctor, though.

Yeah, I've looked at C25K, but I just didn't feel it took into consideration that I'm somewhat in shape - especially in the beginning. I've been working out fairly steady for the past year, but I've avoided the treadmill like the plague. I find it easier to do an hour on the elliptical than 30 minutes on the treadmill. Maybe I could chose a mid-way point in the program and go from there.

ETA: I did finally come to the seemingly obvious conclusion that real running shoes make all the difference. So much better since I got me a pair at Christmas.

my high school's cross country couch was a former arkansas track star and olympic hopeful (last name skinner, forgot the first).

his advice was to keep a comfortable pace and increase the time you run each week, if not a few times each week. don't worry about distance. you're doing it right.

Made it 25 minutes today with no problems! Probably could have gone 30, but it was time for my yoga class.

Hadn't thought about my kidneys but makes sense. I really want to effect life long change. And not pursuing low carb only either. Wish me luck.

US News & World Report - Best Diets 2015

This is a good resource to find diets that are effective and relatively easy to follow. It's worth noting that some popular diets are ranked near the bottom.

Good luck!

I've got a soft spot for my kidneys.

The only time I had kidney stones, I had 3 at once. Talk about a grown man turning into a big arse baby real quick. I did manage to drive myself to the hospital though.

yup

I'm just building up my endurance.

this is key. build up your distance incrementally. slowly build up to the distance/time you would like to be at. don't go overboard, do as much as you're able and come back for more next time. basically it's a marathon not a sprint.

which really is key with any workout. it's all about slowly progressing toward your goals. but you have to start somewhere. every journey begins with one step.

Hey, taking my wife to NYC this summer (U2 in Madison Square Garden). Where should we stay, eat and must see?
