Maybe its been answered already but why hasn't Jarvis Cooper been offered? Is he a grade risk guy?

They want to see him at camp and try to figure out what position he will play in college. It is highly unlikely he plays LBer which is what a lot of message board posters want him at. He is mostly going to play on the DLine and doesn't really have the height you would want at DE or the weight for DT. He is kind of a tweener. In the end I think he gets his offer and is a hog.

He will get his offer, going to be HARD to make him wear Cardinal red though...

He and his father, Chris, who's the offensive line coach at Helias, were able to watch the Hogs' practice.

Chris Hentges spoke well of the facilities but it was the warmth of the people at Arkansas that was even more impressive.
"Just very nice, very friendly and very accommodating throughout the whole day from the academic center to coach Bielema and the whole staff, their athletic trainers and their support staff," Chris Hentges said. "They were very courteous, very helpful and very informative. I thought it was just a very enlightening day. Arkansas should be very proud of what they have in place right now. I think they're definitely set for success."

Really? All the articles I've read made it sound like we had a really good chance if/when we offer.

Cooper paints a different story in recent articles.

ETA: Should be noted I haven't asked for Cooper update in months. So I may be out of the loop. I'll get us a scoop

He told 247 after his visit a few weeks ago that we were #1.

However Marty has a personal connection to the kid so what he says cant be discounted.

When we had Petrino and JLS he wouldn't consider us an option. It was always Bama EVERYTHING with a little Ole Miss sprinkled in and just us because we were the home school.

Cooper loves Bielema and we are "for sure his #1 but that can change."

It's crazy how this is coming out as a common theme amongst the top recruits in the state. You would have thought double digit win seasons would have had in-state kids falling all over themselves to play for the Hogs but it seems the exact opposite was happening. Hunter Henry said he wouldn't have been a Hog if not for Bielema, same with Frazier, Cooper, Tenpenny, etc.

Brad Bolding, the HC at North Little Rock, said on twitter when Juan Day committed that no instate RB would commit to Petrino. I kind of laughed it off at the time but I was looking at the spring rosters over the last few years and we hadn't signed a single instate RB since Petrino actually started coaching. He signed DJ in his first class but no one actually knew his coaching style at that point.

Hopefully, Bielema can actually be the first to lock down the state in a long time. If we could actually get all of the top 5-7 guys every year then that would make recruiting much, much easier for the staff as a whole.

Jamel Jones stuff

quote:

Jones dreamed of playing for the Razorbacks in high school but John Pelphrey, Arkansas' coach at the time, opted not to offer him. Anderson has now offered Jones.

quote:

Jones hasn't decided where he will spend his next two years, but admitted that if it's in Fayetteville it would be pretty special.

“It would mean a lot,” Jones said of helping resurrect Arkansas' program. “This is my homestate and being a big part of my homestate's success is also a good thing. Just being a member and everyone knowing you around the city is a good thing also.”

quote:

Many feel that Jones will end up at Arkansas, but he says don't expect a commitment from him next weekend.

“I don't really think so,” Jones said of choosing Arkansas next weekend. “That what I did out of high school and it ended up being the wrong decision. I want to compare every school and weigh out the options.”

Kavin Alexander putting up some good numbers at the Nike Combine again. I would be surprised if he doesn't get an offer.

@ArRecruitingGuy: Alexander posted a 4.36 in 40, 40.5 vertical, 3.90 shuttle and 42.5 power ball. LINK

@ArRecruitingGuy: NLR CB Kavin Alexander with a 148.17, the nation's best SPARQ rating. 123.30 is the 2nd best in the nation. Not even close

RD is blowing up my twitter feed on Rafe Peavey updates at a QB combine in Dallas. There's about 4-5 QB's we're looking at down there. The Arkansas HS kids sound to be doing pretty good.

Interesting. He seems a little small but I'll obviously trust the coaches.

I thought the same thing but the way they keep talking about Holmes it tells me they have a spot for a scatback in our offense.

We offered Sione Palelei not long ago and he has the same type of build.
