As long as they are practicing, I don't think the layoff will hurt us. Nate is building on the foundation a little each day.

Reese can be frustrating because he compounds his lack of elite athleticism by not consistently being a "110% effort" type guy.

Reese has been one of our best players the last 4 games now that he is getting Semi healthy. I think over that stretch he is averaging something like 5 rebs, 2 assists, 1 block, and 14 points in around 20 minutes a game.

Props to how well Herb played last game, I admit I get down on him when he misses those bunnies and turns it over regularly but he was hitting them last game. That was probably the best he had played since the Oklahoma game two years ago. When he plays like that it's easy to see the potential he has.

Late night Alabama basketball stat: Games with 80 or more possessions 2016-2019 under AJ: 4 (out of 137) 2019 under @nate_oats : 6 (of 11) It’s obvious that they’re playing faster, but the numbers drive home how different this tempo is.

I never felt we over-rated our football players too much, but my God you should go over to the basketball page. They think Herb is the next Lamar Odom

Really excited for Sunday. If we beat Richmond, we’re sitting at 7-5 after winning 5 of our last 6 games and playing some of our best ball heading into SEC play......Almost everyone else in the conference is struggling

Stat thread (from @TeamRankingsCBB): Alabama 6th in Points Per Game. Lot of good teams on this list. Oats and Crean deserve a ton of credit for the offensive turnaround of both teams. If both teams were more solid in other areas, they would be on the verge of being ranked.

quote:

This one my favorite. 2nd in Three Pointers Made per game. If North Florida wasn't shooting the lights out of the gym right now, we'd have the #1 team in this department. Anybody recall what being able to shoot the 3 at an insane rate did for Barn last year?

quote:

And it isn't just that we are taking so many threes that we are bound to make a bunch of them. We're 55th in the nation in 3-point percentage which is also good for 2nd in the SEC.

quote:

Here's where it gets hairy... We still 327th in the nation in turnovers per game. BUT the silver lining here is that the circled number represents the # of turnovers over the last 3 games (per game). Seems like we have started to mitigate the turnover issue.. hopefully.

quote:

This one may just be a product of Nate Oats' system and the modern game but why do 2 guards lead the team in rebounding? lol John Petty getting double-doubles because he's working overtime, playing shooting guard and center at the same time apparently.

quote:

This one has cost us a game or two. 253rd in Opponent Offensive Rebounding. UNC made us look like we had a bunch of 5'9 PG's out there trying to rebound against Armando Bacot.

That’s a stat thread from UARoundballGuy

I’m bout to go major homer but I’m calling it right now....we win these last 3 OOC games and we go into Gainesville and win for a 3rd straight time

I posted this a couple weeks ago kidding around but I legit think we get it done now. And while I don’t think we will win@UK they are very vulnerable right now and I think we give them all they want and then some.

We knew going in the year that not having a rim protector would bite us in the arse at times. And it has. Rebounding is our Achilles heel.

As of now I’m thinking we end up with about 17 wins total and an NIT bid, which is honestly fine when you consider the injuries and how we’re showing improvement. Anything more than that is extra. Oats still has his eyes set on the NCAAT tho so we’ll see

Do yall think Rojas or Gary would have filled the rim protector need or was the loss of Hall still going to be felt even at full strength?

We were still gonna see a difference without Hall, but Gary probably would’ve helped some. I had been told Rojas wasn’t expected to do much this season, even tho we all thought the opposite

No I don’t think either of those guys would’ve helped in that regard. That’s a glaring need that also hasn’t been addressed thus far in recruiting.

Keon Ambrose is committed, 6'8 200 lb power forward. He is close to the same size Hall was coming out of HS.

I'm probably wrong but I thought Keon Ambrose was much more a perimeter player / shooter with a good handling skills for his height than an inside presence like Hall.

they aren’t even close to the same type of player or prospect.
