Saban has apparently trained him himself. I'd love to see him get a series or two.

And can you imagine Waddle at DB?

Saban said part of the difficulty in developing elite defensive backs and having them ready early in their career is that most of the best athletes and skill players are playing offense now in high school and that very few play on defense.

I’ve been thinking this for a while, now Saban confirms it. The game has completely been flipped on its head in the last 10 years. Defense is not a priority anymore, and if you try to make it THE priority at the collegiate level you are forced to do so with lesser athletes. Whichever side of the ball has the best athletes is going to dominate the game, period.

Lots of cross-training due to COVID emergencies.

Do you think Georgia had inferior athletes on their defense?

Are you sure? It's arguably more important now than it's ever been.

Saban isn't forced to play Smitty and Waddle on offense. It's the right choice.

Not necessarily, but it's a major factor. Having more talent doesn't guarantee dominance.

IMO , the RPO and more importantly Lineman being able to go downfield 3 yards(they get away with 5yds all the time) makes it impossible for a defense to defend. A lineman being able to go so far downfield and the offense still pass the ball messes a defenders keys he is suppose to be reading all up.

IMO if they changed the rule from 3yds to 1yd and made it reviewable it would even the game back up.
