I was at the game - horrific calling. And Mercer was holding constantly. It was bad today. That crew is the worst

The Autrey crew always wants to make sure they get plenty of air time

This is the nature of college football. They let the less talented team get away with it every week. It isn't a coincidence that Bama opponents have been the least penalized for years, and now that's shifted to Georgia. You can draw one of two conclusions from that. Either teams are playing their best and most disciplined football against the best competition in the country, or officials are swallowing their whistle to "level the playing field" which is not their fricking job. At the end of the day it comes down to money. The networks need an entertaining product. It's bullshite but it is what it is.

In CFB they aren't going to realistically call holding on every play- they will in the NFL

The officiating epidemic could all be rectified with a very simple solution. Hold the crews accountable. Whether that is a "last two minute report" type like the NBA or make them available to media in post game press conferences to explain questionable calls. You do that and they will start calling games fair. It's frankly absurd that this hasn't been a thing for years.

I also think that any penalty should be able to be challenged, just like they've gone to in basketball. The fact that they can't is ridiculous and implies that officials rarely make mistakes when they miss something every other play

Think about how many game of inches penalties can 100% swing a game. Illegal man downfield can't be reviewed, but could impact the game the same way a fumble/turnover can and those plays are reviewed often for 4-5 minutes. It's madness and needs a complete overhaul
