I would not go as far as "dead end choice" but his fans are the epitome of the rose-tinted glasses people put on for their team's backup quarterback when the starter isn't playing at a high level.

In limited play time - albeit often with backups - I've seen some concerning things. Randomly will have throws that look like they're lumbering to the receivers. His favorite pass rush avoidance move is to bailout towards the sideline instead of stepping up or side stepping. Admittedly that is better than Milroe's tendency to be a statue or floating backwards into the edge rush. Still, it has some other limitations. You'd love to see that ability to step up and side step in the pocket like Mac Jones because it gives the play design more opportunity rather than turning the play into scramble drill rules.

Hard to know if that is a symptom of playing with the backups though. I know they probably aren't a trusty protection group.
