UGA commit Nolan Smith did an interview where he spoke about some of Georgia's other targets. I'll post the ones relevant to us.

CLAY WEBB
"Clay Webb is a monster. He is most definitely one of the most skilled blockers in the country. We need to have him at Georgia. I think he leaves the state. I think he just visits Clemson and Georgia, but of course, Alabama has a shot."

DARNELL WRIGHT
"I had a nice Opening with Darnell Wright. His first punch was nice. I remember him getting me good with it, and of course, at The Opening, you cannot win every rep. He stood out among the offensive tackles there. I hope we can get him on campus. If anyone asks about Georgia, of course, I try to talk to them and give my honest opinion."

JERMAINE BURTON
"Jermaine Burton is going to be an incredible wide receiver. I remember our first game. He was a sophomore at IMG, which you do not expect them to get that much playing time at IMG. He got some snaps, and they threw him the ball one time and I was like 'oh hell no way he makes that catch.' Then that boy went up and literally grabbed it over the other person. Then the sideline went nuts. Ever since then, he has worked so hard and he is never content with where he is. I love him from that standpoint and I want to play with him in college."

NAKOBE DEAN
"Nakobe Dean is a beast at inside linebacker. That is one of Coach Schumann's guys. I love spending time with them together because Dean is hilarious. We were playing foosball together, he was just making so many jokes about how bad we were. Then he got on and he was worse than us, it was the funniest thing ever. I hope to see him in Athens again. Getting him would be big for Georgia. We have been beating Alabama for top prospects lately, in my opinion, so it would not be a surprise to see it happen again. But you can never count Alabama out of anything."

Where Texas stands with 10 highest ranked targets in new Top247
quote:
Texas had another big weekend on the recruiting trail as the Longhorns secured commitments from four-star wide receiver Demariyon Houston and key cornerback target Marques Caldwell.
Texas now has 13 commits in its 2019 class and moved up to No. 10 in the 247Sports Composite national team recruiting rankings with a score of 229.10.
UT is ranked No. 2 in the Big 12 Conference behind Oklahoma, which holds two more commits at this time. Oklahoma has a total score of 248.29. Texas is ahead of TCU by roughly 50 points with three fewer commits, so UT is safely in the No. 2 spot at this time.
Texas has an average rating per recruit of 91.99, which means the Longhorns are slowly building a quality class. But there is still work to be done.
The new Top247 recruiting rankings dropped on Thursday, and Texas is after several of the country's top prospects. Tom Herman and his staff have made it a point to build a national brand this cycle and go after the best regardless of where they are from.
Here is a look at where the Longhorns stand with their 10 highest ranked targets.

RB Trey Sanders, IMG Academy (Fla.)
Height: 6-foot
Weight: 216
National Ranking: 15
Position Ranking: 1
State Ranking: 2
The Sanders to Texas train picked up some steam this summer when Sanders made his way to Austin for an unofficial visit. Sanders really clicked with Texas running backs coach Stan Drayton, who sold him on his resume of developing running backs like Ezekiel Elliott and Carlos Hyde and getting them to the next level. NFL development is a huge factor for Sanders and a reason Texas is very much in the picture here. Texas will likely receive an official visit in the fall as it continues to make headway in this recruitment. Still, Alabama will be tough to beat.

Did anyone else see some "steam" in regards to Sanders favoring Texas?

DT Ishmael Sopsher, Amite (La.)
Height: 6-foot-3
Weight: 330
National Ranking: 18
Position Ranking: 2
State Ranking: 3
Texas still has a big need at defensive line this recruiting cycle and is going after one of the best in the country in Sopsher. UT defensive line coach Oscar Giles has remained in frequent contact as the Longhorns look to get him down for a visit in the fall. However, Texas is very much on the outside looking in here. LSU is considered the heavy favorite, and Alabama appears to be the biggest threat to the Tigers. Sopsher plans to release his top schools before the end of the month, so it will be interesting to see if Texas can survive the cut and stay in this race.

quote:
CB Jeffery Carter, Mansfield Legacy
Height: 6-foot
Weight: 180
National Ranking: 25
Position Ranking: 3
State Ranking: 3
Texas appeared to be out of the mix for Carter earlier in the process, but he recently included the Longhorns in his Top 4. If Texas makes a hard push in coming months, the Longhorns could soar in this recruitment. But there appears to be some question marks when it comes to this recruitment. Right now, Alabama and Texas A&M are at the top and are arguably making him a bigger priority. It should be noted that Carter is teammates with fellow UT targets Jalen Catalon and Taurean Carter.

quote:
DL DeMarvin Leal, Converse Judson
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 280
National Ranking: 43
Position Ranking: 4
State Ranking: 6
Leal remains committed to Texas A&M at this point in the recruiting process, but the race for his services isn't over just yet. Texas got Leal on campus for an official visit following his verbal pledge to the Aggies and has been working hard on him behind the scenes. Texas has also built a strong relationship with his mother and is in constant contact with her as well. The Longhorns will continue fighting for Leal until he signs, and it wouldn't be surprising if they got him on campus for an unofficial visit in the fall.

quote:
DL Faatui Tuitele, Honolulu St. Louis (HI)
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 299
National Ranking: 54
Position Ranking: 5
State Ranking: 2
As mentioned, Texas is making it a priority to find quality defensive linemen this recruiting cycle, and Tuitele is one of the Longhorns' top overall targets in the trenches. The four-star prospect made his way to Austin in the spring and recently named Texas in his final five. The Longhorns will get him back on campus for an official visit in the fall. It is imperative for them to hit a homerun as schools like Alabama and Ohio State seem to be in a better position at this time. Texas does have an X-factor in recruiting staffer Jake Langi, who has strong Polynesian ties.

WR Dylan Wright, West Mesquite
Height: 6-foot-3
Weight: 213
National Ranking: 69
Position Ranking: 11
State Ranking: 11
One of UT's top overall targets, Wright is a monster on the outside and would fill a remaining need at outside wide receiver for the Longhorns. So where exactly does Texas sit in this race? Very high. It's not farfetched to say that this is shaping up to be a big in-state battle as both Texas and Texas A&M seem to be separating themselves from the pack. Texas hosted Wright for an unofficial visit earlier this offseason and will get him back on campus at some point after the dead period. Wright is deciding in January, so this season could be a make it or break it factor.

Georgia assistant Dell McGee has the Bulldogs in the mix for several elite tailbacks in the 2019 cycle. At this time, it appears that Georgia has zeroed in on Trey Sanders (Port St. Joe, Fla./IMG Academy), Noah Cain (Denton, Texas/IMG Academy), John Emery Jr. (Destrehan, La./Destrehan), and Tyrion Davis (Baton Rouge, La./Southern Lab). While none have listed Georgia as a leader, it is clear that McGee has positioned himself well to land one of the highly coveted quartet. In fact, after spending a week with all four of the top targets, it would not be a surprise at all if Georgia stands No. 2 for all four of them. Alabama is the team to watch with Sanders, but some in Dallas felt Georgia is their top competition. If LSU has a strong season, it could be tough to beat with Cain. To a certain extent, the same goes for Texas, although Auburn is the team to keep an eye on there as well. Cain is going to let the upcoming season unfold and provide insight toward which program best suits him. Emery made it very clear that Georgia was the team pushing LSU and Mississippi State, respectively. A move needs to be made to land one of these talented backs, but don't count McGee out one bit.
