DEFENSIVE END
Spots To Fill: Two or Three
Best Bet: Khris Bogle
The Reason Why: The Hurricanes already have two talented defensive ends committed in the class in Cameron Williams and Jahfari Harvey. Would I bet my life on Miami landing Bogle? No way, because this recruitment still has a long ways to go. With that being said, however, the Hurricanes are in a good position during these summer months.
Others of Note: Lloyd Summerall, Mike Morris (FSU Commit), JJ Weaver

CORNERBACK
Spots To Fill: One
Best Bet: Tyrique Stevenson
The Reason Why: Miami has local cornerbacks Jarvis Brownlee and Te’Cory Couch along with Orlando area prospect Damarius Good already in the class and UM feels good about that haul. UM would, however, like to add one more player at the position if possible. This ultimately depends on how you view Stevenson. If you view him as a cornerback, then you put him here. If you view him as a safety, then he is the top prospect at that position too. The bottom line: Stevenson is a versatile defensive back that can line up all over the secondary. Miami is battling Georgia for Stevenson. It figures to be a hotly contested recruitment, but for now the Hurricanes are in a good spot.
Others of Note: Akeem Dent, Jaden Davis

Let's take a look at the highlight reels of one Ole Miss commit and three top targets for the Rebels from The Opening...

Nakobe Dean
Five-star linebacker Nakobe Dean is the most sought-after recruit in what is a loaded 2019 class inside the state of Mississippi. Rated as the nation's No. 1 inside linebacker prospect, the Horn Lake standout holds more than 20 offers from a who's who of college football. He has been a frequent visitor to the Ole Miss campus and his older brother recently walked onto the Rebels' roster. Can Ole Miss keep him in state? It is going to be one of the major storylines down the stretch run to the December early signing period. Georgia leads Dean's Crystal Ball at 33 percent, and it is worth noting, only analysts on the Ole Miss beat have forecast him to the Rebels.
Here are Dean's numbers from The Opening: 40-yard dash: 4.77 seconds; Shuttle: 4.01; Powerball: 42 feet; Vertical: 40.0 inches; SPARQ: 137.28 (4th best).

Texas is in a better spot with Williams Field (AZ) safety Noa Pola-Gates than we initially thought. The Longhorns are still making Pola-Gates a priority, and he plans to make an official visit to Texas in the fall. Pola-Gates is also working on setting up an unofficial visit to UT for the end of July, following the dead period. While Alabama is considered the favorite here, Texas safeties coach Craig Naivar has been putting in some major work in this recruitment.

Yes, the aforementioned Tufono has talked to five-star Honolulu St. Louis (HI) defensive tackle Faatui Tuitele about playing with each other at the next level. Texas is certainly a strong option for both as the Longhorns are in Tuitele’s final five as well, but they have some work to do. We have been told that schools like Alabama and Ohio State are in a better position at this time. Texas needs to have a big year and really hit a homerun on his official visit in the fall.
We didn't make Tufono's Top 5 FWIW.

FOUR-STAR DEFENSIVE TACKLE SIAKI IKA
When it comes to recruiting, Alabama traditionally gets anyone they want and then the rest of the country is left going after everyone else. Right now the Crimson Tide are the leaders in the clubhouse for the commitment for four-star Siaki Ika and I don't see that changing. Perhaps the Ducks can get him on campus again, but I doubt that will change things. The good news here is that he'd also be saying no to USC and Washington.

Evan Neal has a family connection to the Gators program, which is a reason they are still under consideration.
“I got an uncle [Frankie Neal] that played wide receiver for Florida, got drafted in the second round by the Green Bay Packers. So, it’s kind of home with me, family has played there. I have family members that went to the school.”

The Opening: FSU commits, targets final combine testing numbers
This article has more info than the two previous ones.
quote:
Numerous Florida State commitments and targets participated in The Opening from Frisco, Texas at the start of July. As part of that event, the participants - 160-plus of the nation's most talented high school prospects - participate in a national combine. During that testing, the athletes record a 40-yard dash time, shuttle time, a powerball throw and a vertical jump. Using those results, combined with the athletes height and weight, a final rating is calculated.
Georgia five-star defensive end pledge Nolan Smith finished with the top overall rating of 141.75 after recording a 40-yard dash time of 4.55 seconds, a shuttle time of 4.08 seconds, a powerball throw of 44.5' and a vertical jump of 42.2 at 6-foot-3 and 232 pounds.
Here is a look at testing results for Florida State commitments and targets during The Opening in Frisco, Texas in early July:
