AUBURN, Ala. — Chalk up another successful day for Auburn recruiting.

The Tigers hosted a bunch of top recruiting talent for the A-Day spring game at Jordan-Hare Stadium. In the process, Auburn picked up two commitments on the offensive side of the ball and made impressive headway for several other top targets.

Here’s a look at all of the latest from interviews conducted by SEC Country.

5-star wide receiver Justyn Ross got a big smile on his face when asked about Auburn’s willingness the throw the ball around the field on Saturday. He also mentioned the importance of getting to spend time with a quarterback commit at a school he’s considering. His relationship with Gatewood will certainly play a factor.

4-star RB Harold Joiner, who picked up an Alabama offer this week, said his top two remains the same — LSU and Auburn. Ole Miss is probably next in line there. The Crimson Tide haven’t made it clear what position they want him at. LSU has made early playing time and the running back position more clear than other programs.

4-star safety Myles Mason returned to Auburn and got another opportunity to sit down with secondary coach Greg Brown. They went over some film together. Mason has Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Florida and Clemson are his unofficial top 5. He hopes to decide by summer. Mason wants to take a visit to Georgia soon, too.

3-star defensive lineman Caleb Tannor is one of Auburn’s favorite Buck defensive end targets. His recruitment has picked a lot recently. He said a top 10 is “coming soon,” but Auburn, Alabama and Georgia have been standing out to him. Auburn is in good shape here.

3-star CB Jaycee Horn visited Auburn for the first time as a recruit. He said he was surprised by how nice it was. Horn’s father, NFL great Joe Horn, was on the New Orleans Saints when Auburn secondary coach Greg Brown was on the Saints’ staff. Horn will release a top list of schools soon and knows Alabama and Tennessee will make the list. Auburn is in pretty good shape so far, too.

2019 Buck defensive end/linebacker King Mwikuta, who will end up being one of the most coveted players in the nation, said Auburn jumped Florida State for the No. 3 slot, but the Tigers have closed the gap on Alabama and Georgia who are at the top of his list. He also said he plans to get to every single Auburn home game this fall. He’s close friends with Auburn signee JaTarvious Whitlow.

Auburn signee Noah Igbinoghene said he’s doing his best to recruit his Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.) teammate Pierce Quick to the Tigers. Those two are close.

Thankfully we have the Bear's grandson as his QB (Paul Tyson) fighting in our corner. Hopefully.

Gus Malzahn took some personal time to talk to a few Auburn targets during pregame. He had some one-on-one time with Harold Joiner. Malzahn also took a brief minute to chat with Quick and Webb, along with Herb Hand. There were likely more, but those are the encounters SEC Country witnessed first-hand.

There were a line of recruits around the corner of one end zone at Jordan-Hare Stadium for Auburn's A-Day.

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn made it a point to find two 2019 offensive linemen - Pierce Quick of Hewitt-Trussville and Clay Webb of Oxford.

"That was huge, having him come over and talk to us," said Quick, a 6-foot-5, 280-pound four-star offensive tackle. "With all those other guys standing around and for him to pick us out and talk to us, that was awesome. He just told us that we were his two guys for the offensive line in 2019 and that was awesome."

Quick has said that Alabama was his leader, but Auburn made up some huge ground on his third trip.

"I would have to say yes (Alabama led), but Auburn was definitely close behind," Quick said. "I would say, after today, they are probably equal."

It won't be just an Alabama-Auburn battle for Quick. He has already told Oregon assistant Mario Cristobal that he'll visit the Ducks this summer. Quick also wants to visit Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Texas.

Quick's next trip will likely be to Alabama's A-Day on April 22.

"I just want to see them a few more times and see other schools before I make (a decision), because it's so early," Quick said. "If I found the perfect school for me then yes (I would commit thi summer), but I don't know when it'll be."

Quick said he was impressed with the offensive line, and noted it should be even better with graduate transfers Casey Dunn and Wilson Bell coming in this fall.

"This trip was great because this was my first time to see them play," Quick said. "They looked really good. I think they'll make a really good run this year, for sure. Stidham was throwing the ball on the money."
