Is Bama making any kind of strong push to flip Zamir White?

From @Swaggyd_1

Alabama would love to flip the nation’s No. 1 running back away from Georgia, but it just looks unrealistic at this time. The Bulldogs are rated No. 2 in the country behind the Crimson Tide and White fell in love with UGA several years ago.

White is still talking with Alabama coaches, and that’s really all you can ask for at this point. I know the Tide are trying to set up an official visit for White, but he hasn’t been to Tuscaloosa yet. It’s an extreme longshot at this point for the Tide to flip White.

With the defensive line board getting slim do you think Jarez Parks could slide over to DE? What do you think about Alabama’s chances with Isaac Taylor-Stuart?

From @Jays_in_closet

I’m not sure how big Jarez Parks, a Class of 2017 greyshirt for Alabama, is at this point. Parks isn’t playing football currently but is working out. When he was a senior in high school, he wasn’t the biggest guy. So, in order for him to move from Jack linebacker to defensive end, he’ll have to add a pretty significant amount of weight. He also doesn’t have ideal height (6-foot-2) to play defensive end. The guys you watch play defensive end for Alabama on Saturdays are all at least 6-4.

Although Isaac Taylor-Stuart is rated as a top 5 cornerback on the 247Sports composite, he’s been a backup option for the Tide. Alabama’s top cornerback targets are Tyson Campbell, Patrick Surtain Jr., Josh Jobe, Nadab Joseph, Saivion Smith and Jalyn Armour-Davis.

Who do you think will be the next commit? Who are we likely to flip other than Emory Jones?

From @LijahB_3

I think 4-star cornerback Nadab Joseph will be the next to commit. He’s expected to make his decision by the end of the week.

Other than flipping 4-star quarterback Emory Jones away from Ohio State, I think the most likely flip candidates for Alabama are Florida wide receiver commit Jacob Copeland, Miami cornerback commit Jobe, BYU linebacker commit Brandon Kaho, Ohio State defensive commits Brenton Cox and Antwuan Jackson and Kentucky quarterback commit Jarren Williams, if Alabama misses out on Jones.

What are the chances Alabama still lands Justyn Ross? It seems as if he is going to Clemson.

From @DCestaric5

There is still a good chance Alabama lands the top player in the state in 4-star wide receiver Justyn Ross out of Central High School (Phenix City, Ala.). But, you are right. It does seem like he is trending toward Clemson.

I’ve interviewed Ross quite a bit over the past year and I won’t forget how genuine of a smile he had when I first talked with him in person about Clemson. Ross is a very quiet kid in interviews, but he was so excited about that Clemson offer and visiting the program for the first time. Since then, he has still had that same giddy excitement with the Tigers. One source in Tuscaloosa told me just the other day that it seems like Ross is trending Clemson’s way, so Alabama is now aware that the Tigers are a legitimate threat.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Ross back in Tuscaloosa this weekend for the LSU game and take an official visit to Alabama sometime after the season. It’s clear the Tide have work to do in order to land Ross.

Do you think Jalen Cunningham will get a committable offer now that Alabama has missed on some targets? Does Dominick Wood-Anderson have a set commitment date?

From @Alapanic

I checked in with one source after Alabama missed on getting 4-star defensive tackle Bobby Brown, who committed to Texas A&M, to see who the team will target now. Jalen Cunningham, a 3-star defensive tackle from St. Clair County High School (Odenville, Ala.), is still further down on the board. It remains unclear if Cunningham will ever get a committable offer. As far as other defensive linemen to watch, look for the Tide to start recruiting LSU defensive line commits Dare Rosenthal, who was once committed to Alabama, and Nelson Jenkins. The Tide also think Andres Fox, a 3-star prospect from Mobile who is being recruited as a Jack linebacker, will eventually grow into a defensive lineman.

Dominick Wood-Anderson, the nation’s No. 1 junior college tight end who recently de-committed from Texas, doesn’t have a set commitment date. It wouldn’t surprise me to see him go ahead and commit soon, though. I was told that a big reason why he backed off his pledge from the Longhorns is because of Alabama’s strong push for him. I expect him in this class.

Why do you think Alabama is struggling to recruit this year? Is the talent stockpile working against them?

From @NotTheFakeCam

I answer this question almost every week, but Alabama is still not struggling to recruit this year. Yes, this recruiting class has started slowly with the team only having 12 commitments with under two months to go until the early signing period, but there’s really not a reason to be concerned. The Tide have signed seven straight No. 1 recruiting classes. We’re all crazy to think the team is going to take a drastic drop from that. I’m on record as saying the team’s streak of having the No. 1 class will end, but this class should finish in the top 5.

As for your second question, that has hurt them with some players for sure. Alabama is loaded at several positions and some kids just don’t want to wait their turn to have a starting spot. Harold Joiner, a 4-star running back, has told SEC Country that he will never commit to Alabama because of the team’s depth chart. So, there are some players who view the team’s depth as a negative. I think the team has started slowly because it had to replace several assistants who were elite recruiters (Mario Cristobal, Billy Napier) and replace them with brand-new coaches who may not have had a relationship with these recruits. Also, the team has a limited number of spots, so Alabama is doing its due diligence in evaluations.

The first weekend of November is customarily reserved for the always much-anticipated showdown between LSU and Alabama, and of course, the recruiting battles that come along for the ride.

Like most years, the Tigers and the Crimson Tide are going toe-to-toe for some of the same blue-chip recruits in the Class of 2018. In this particular recruiting cycle, the emphasis is on defensive backs.

Kelvin Joseph, Patrick Surtain Jr. and Nadab Joseph are at the forefront of the LSU-Alabama rivalry in 2018. Both Josephs have been committed to LSU at one point, while Surtain has been a Tigers lean for almost two years.

How will these recruiting battles play out in 2018?

Patrick Surtain Jr., 5-star CB, 6-foot-2, 190 pounds (Plantation, Fla.)

Latest from LSU:
The No. 1 cornerback in the country named LSU as his top school 16 months ago and has yet to back off that stance. Surtain, who has family in and around Louisiana, has a longstanding relationship with Tigers defensive backs coach Corey Raymond, who has been spearheading his recruitment for several years. The chance to compete for immediate playing time and Raymond’s track record of grooming NFL-caliber defensive backs have helped LSU to stay out in front for the 5-star corner. While Alabama is certainly trying to gain ground, this is LSU’s race to lose leading up to a National Signing Day announcement in February.

Latest from Alabama: Surtain has been one of Alabama’s most-important targets ever since he became a national recruit, but since that time, it has been clear that LSU is the strong favorite to land the 5-star prospect when he makes his commitment. Surtain hasn’t visited Tuscaloosa this fall, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him on the sidelines this weekend for the game. Alabama desperately needs corners this year after not signing a true cornerback in the 2017 class, and the team will lose starting CBs Anthony Averett and Levi Wallace after this season. The Tide have been pushing the opportunity to play right away. We’ll see if it works.

Kelvin Joseph, 4-star DB, 6-foot-2, 190 pounds (Baton Rouge, La.)

Latest from LSU:
Joseph de-committed from LSU after spending 20 months as a member of the Tigers’ 2018 recruiting class. He reopened his recruitment amid schools being unwilling to allow the U.S. Army All-American to officially visit while still being committed to the Tigers. Joseph is entertaining pushes from Florida State and Clemson, among others, but this has always been a race between LSU and Alabama. Joseph has maintained that the Tigers are out in front — even after de-committing — but this is destined to go back and forth leading up to a February National Signing Day decision.

Latest from Alabama: Joseph has been one of Alabama’s top safety targets since last year. He nearly flipped from LSU to Alabama last summer but chose to hold off because he realized that there was no point in making that decision because there was still plenty of time left in his recruitment. Now that he’s uncommitted, Alabama has turned the heat up in recruiting Joseph but there’s no doubt that he has a very good relationship with the LSU staff. That could be the reason why he goes back to the Tigers.

Nadab Joseph, 4-star CB, 6-foot-2, 180 pounds (Miami, Fla.)

Latest from LSU:
Joseph de-committed from LSU in August after originally committing prior to his junior season during a high school camp in June 2016. The 4-star defensive back capable of playing both cornerback and safety at the next level has made several visits to Tuscaloosa, Ala., and will be in town again for an official visit when LSU rolls into town on Nov. 4. He is also expected back in Baton Rouge at the end of the month for the Tigers’ tilt against Texas A&M. Those official visits loom large, but Joseph has gravitated toward the Crimson Tide as a result of Nick Saban’s full-court press and the opportunity to play right away in their secondary.

Latest from Alabama: Sources in Tuscaloosa expect Joseph to commit to Alabama by this Sunday. He’s taking an official visit to Tuscaloosa this weekend, but it’s unclear if he wants to arrive as a committed player or just make the decision while on the visit. Two months prior to him de-committing from LSU, he told SEC Country that it was likely that he was going to make that decision. When he went through with it, it was actually a surprise he didn’t flip to Alabama just then.

After leading Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson to a thrilling 32-25 win over Hoover (Ala.) last Friday, 2019 four-star quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa, the younger brother of Alabama freshman signal caller Tua Tagovailoa, caught the eyes of a handful of Crimson Tide players who have taken notice of the rising star.

Da'Ron Payne:

“It felt like a college game out there. I see Tua’s little brother play.”

How’d he look?

“Oh, he looked good. He looked good.”

Shaun Dion Hamilton:

“It was really good. I was watching it online. Hoover has always been that team. I was glad to see Baby Tua pull it out. That’s what I call him. Baby Tua.”

How did he do it?

“Just his will to win. After the Tennessee game I gave him the whole history of Hoover High. I told him to do what you have to do to beat them. To get the win as a junior, that’s big right there.”

Jalen Hurts:

Did Hurts go to the game?

"No, I heard Tua’s brother had a good game though."

Have you got to see much of Baby Tua? Thoughts?

“He’s around here often, obviously so close, so close to his big brother. We always hang out when we can.”

Tua Tagovailoa took to Twitter following the game:

Tua Tagovailoa

@Tuaamann_

All I gotta say tonight. T.A.U.L.I.A

The younger Tagovailoa is rated the No. 8 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 307 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. Alabama is the Crystal Ball favorite at 100 percent.

In his first season in Alabama after transferring in from Hawaii, Tagovailoa has passed for 2,553 yards and 25 touchdowns to just four interceptions.

The No. 1-ranked Warriors are 9-0 on the season.

It doesn't take terribly long to notice Tacorey Turner on a football field. He is 6-foot-2, 180 pounds on the island at cornerback for one of the state of Alabama's top programs, Montgomery (Ala.) Park Crossing High School.

The first time the network saw him work, in person, drew eyes because of curiosity this May. The Thunderbirds were set to face Class 7A state champion Hoover (Ala.) High during a spring jamboree, pegging Turner with the task of helping slow the Bucs' standout wide receiver duo of Shedrick Jackson and George Pickens -- each committed to Auburn University.

Turner showed some signs, aided by his length and athleticism, but came off as a raw, under-polished prospect as the hot afternoon wore on. Turns out it was his first taste of varsity football.

But this wasn't the case of a rising-junior hitting a growth spurt or a seasoned junior varsity player getting the call up to the big stage -- it was the growing trend of athletes with a basketball background getting on the field for the fall.

Park Crossing head coach Smitty Grider then told us he would become a name to know because of his raw traits, with some speed and aggression in addition to the obvious size. The flashes were there, even as Jackson beat him deep for one score and nearly on another, so cycling back to the class of 2019 project would become a priority for the network later in the year.

Fast forward to late October, as the T-Birds were on the way to a rout of Montgomery (Ala.) Lanier to clinch the region title, it was Turner who flashed within the Park Crossing defense.

Still 6-2 and looking a bit more filled out, confidence became as easy to spot as his towering size and physique. Turner was challenged throughout the night, thanks in part to a deep ball display by Elite 11 semifinalist quarterback James Foster. But unlike that spring day against the Bucs, Turner was a fixture in his positioning, play on the football and overall impact. He was comfortable, in addition to confident, and brought that same sense of physicality against both the pass and the run.

Turner, as he would admit, still has plenty of room to grow as a defensive back, but seeing the amount of growth in his game over five months is encouraging to the point major college programs are taking note. He says Alabama will host him on Saturday for its showdown with LSU.

We caught some examples on the video below.

November has arrived and the early signing period is less than two months away. Teams are jockeying for position with the nation’s top prospects and many of the top uncommitted players reside in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Here is where many of them stand as this recruiting cycle draws closer to its end.

1. More visits for five-star Micah Parsons?

Five-star Micah Parsons has kept the entire recruiting world on its collective toes, seemingly deciding at random where and when he wants to take his official visits. Ohio State, Nebraska and Oklahoma have been the lucky recipients so far and Penn State received an unofficial visit back in September. Georgia, Alabama and USC are pushing to get Parsons on campus for an official visit as well, but he can only take two more official visits. Parsons has made it clear for a while that he wants to sign on Dec. 20, the first day of the early signing period.

At this point it seems Parsons has all but ruled out Ohio State and the coaching situation at Nebraska is making him a bit uneasy. The official visit to Oklahoma seems to have gone well, but everybody is chasing Penn State and, unless the Sooners absolutely blew him away, a rare recommitment seems likely for the Nittany Lions.

2. Two final visits for five-star K.J. Henry

K.J. Henry is another five-star defensive end that is going to sign on Dec. 20. Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, South Carolina and Virginia Tech are the final five schools for Henry, but Clemson has been and remains the team to beat. The Tigers just hosted Henry for an official visit and he gave the experience a glowing review. Georgia and Virginia Tech have already hosted Henry for an official visit and South Carolina will get its chance with Henry next weekend. Alabama will get an official visit before Henry commits, but the Crimson Tide and Gamecocks both have some catching up to do. Unless the official visits to South Carolina and Alabama go extremely well, Henry’s decision will likely boil down to Clemson, Virginia Tech and Georgia.

So it seems like we need to blow away Kelvin Joseph for a good chance this weekend or he is likely LSU bound.
