There's only one game tonight that features two A-Listers on the same field: Mountain Brook at Huffman, with No. 5 Harold Joiner at running back from the Spartans and defensive lineman and Ole Miss commit Allen Love anchoring the front for Huffman. Expect them to be facemask-to-facemask several times tonight.

Who else plays where? Check out where all the A-Listers play tonight:

1. Justyn Ross, WR, Central-Phenix City- vs. Prattville

3. Coynis Miller, DL, Jackson-Olin- Mustanings lost 33-28 to Parker on Thursday night.

4. Asa Martin, RB, Austin- vs. Athens

Bobby Brown committing on Friday

Bobby Brown, a 4-star defensive tackle from Lamar High School (Arlington, Texas), will announce his commitment in just a few hours. Brown will announce his decision at some point between 11:30 a.m. and 12:06 p.m. ET, according to 247Sports. The reason for the specific time period is because that’s when he has a free period during school.

Brown has been Alabama’s top defensive tackle target since the summer when he visited for the team’s offensive line/defensive line camp. Brown spoke with SEC Country over the summer and told us he had a private leader. From talking with sources and gathering info during that conversation, it was clear that Alabama was that private leader during the summer.

“I like being successful and I like working hard,” Brown said at the time. “When I went on that visit, all I saw was success and hard work. That’s what caught my eye.”

Since then, other teams have gained ground on the Crimson Tide. Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M are the top contenders, along with Alabama, to land Brown’s commitment.

The 6-foot-4, 282-pound prospect visited Tuscaloosa this past weekend for the Tennessee game and was originally set to announce his commitment on Nov. 2. He announced on Thursday that he was now going to commit on Friday.

The decision to move up his commitment caught the Alabama staff off guard, according to people I talked to around the program. Usually, when a recruit moves up his decision to commit after visiting one of his top schools, it’s good news; however, there is some concern on Alabama’s end with Brown committing now instead of next week.

Brown told SEC Country that he’s still planning on taking his official visit to Texas A&M this weekend. It will be odd if he chooses to commit to Alabama and then goes through with his visit to Texas A&M — a school that also has confidence in landing Brown — on the same day.

Just two weeks ago, prior to Brown visiting Alabama, I was told that the coaching staff expected to land Brown’s commitment. I checked back in with the same source after he and his mother visited Tuscaloosa this past weekend and was told the visit couldn’t have gone any better.

Now?

There isn’t that same confidence that was expressed to me just a few days ago, mainly because Brown is planning on visiting a top contender on the day he announces his decision. Perhaps he moved up his decision in order to visit College Station this weekend as a committed player? We’ll see in a few hours.

What Alabama has going for it is outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi, Brown’s primary recruiter. Lupoi is arguably the best recruiter on the Tide’s staff outside of coach Nick Saban himself.

“I have a really good relationship with Coach ‘Tosh,'” Brown said. “He’s a really energized coach. I can tell he loves the game of football.”

The nation’s No. 14 defensive tackle also is aware that Alabama is in need of several interior linemen in this class. But early playing time isn’t a necessity to him. He knows wherever he goes that he’ll have to put in the work to see the field.

“Early playing time is guaranteed to nobody,” Brown said. “Coaches can say that and it may not be true. So, that’s not a factor for me at all. When coaches tell me that, it goes in one ear and out the other.”

There’s also some comfortability at Alabama. Redshirt freshman offensive lineman Chris Owens is a former high school teammate of Brown’s. Those two still talk to each other and hung out this past weekend, but Brown would not disclose what he and Owens have discussed regarding Alabama.

Those two used to go against each other in practice every day. Owens usually got the best of him.

“The harder you get hit, the harder you have to hit back,” Brown said with a laugh when asked what he learned from Owens. “He won the majority of the battles back then. He was just so powerful. I was only a sophomore at the time, so he was much stronger than me.”

If Brown commits elsewhere, this would be a big loss for the Tide because of how much confidence the team had coming out of his trip this past weekend.

Our OL class this year is trending to be another great one so Bell isn't that big of a deal. And OLB looks pretty good too, right?

From BOL last night regarding Brown:

quote:

- The bottomline is that tomorrow when Brown makes his decision (between 10:30-11:06 a.m.) he's looking to shock some people. So it's hard to predict what he will do. But it should be noted that multiple sources indicated they feel despite his commitment tomorrow, it is not finalized and there could easily be more twists and turns before National Signing Day.

So we have about an hour left before his announcement it appears.

One of two things is happening here...either we have several guys who are silents and we are going to unleash them on singing day to have an epic finish and climb up the rankings, which will generate a lot of buzz. Or, we are legit struggling on the recruiting trail for the 1st time since 2007. Something is different this year though, we can't continue to deny that as we approach November. Let's just hope it's the first scenario.

I'd much rather lose Bell and sign Ekiyor, Sewell and potentially Petit-Frere to go along with Tommy Brown.

MIAMI — Nadab Joseph is closing in on the end. The four-star defensive back doesn’t have an exact date or time for an announcement, but he knows his commitment is coming soon.

Like, really soon.

“It’s going to be next week sometime,” Joseph said on Thursday. “Either next week or maybe the week after that, but I’m ready. I want to do it next week.”

A one-time LSU commit, Joseph holds offers from a long list of major programs. After backing off his pledge to LSU this offseason, he’s narrowed his list to include just three programs.

“There are still three schools,” Joseph said. “It’s Alabama, LSU and Georgia. Those are the only ones.”

IN HIS WORDS:

— “With Georgia, I like the coaches. I’m cool with every last one of them. It’s real good over there. I love the environment there.”

— “With Alabama, that’s a winning team. You are guaranteed to get better there, hands down. I know people over there and that would put me in a good position. Nick Saban coaches the DBs there, so that’s perfect for me.”

— “I saw [LSU coaches] here at the game tonight. I think he left early, but that’s ok. I still like them. I still talk to LSU every day, so that’s good. I’m comfortable with them.”

RIVALS REACTION: Alabama is thought to be the frontrunner here, but Joseph has been coy about his decision in recent weeks. Georgia’s recent recruitment momentum make the Bulldogs one to watch as well. Prospects don’t often back off longstanding verbal commitments only to recommit months later, so LSU has to be seen as the third option at this juncture.

Jarren Williams remains committed to Kentucky, but the 4-star quarterback is still listening to programs like Alabama and Ohio State. His dad, Anthony Williams, told SEC Country on Thursday night that winning is Jarren’s primary focus.

“I think it’s to the point right now where he wants to win, and he wants to win bad,” Anthony Williams said. “He wants to win now. I think he’s just kind of tired of being on those subpar teams that the athletes are really not committed.”

Williams’ Central Gwinnett High School dropped to 5-4 last Friday night, and Anthony Williams said he could feel his son’s frustration after the game.

Kentucky sits at 5-2, and Anthony Williams said Jarren believes in the Wildcats and the players that could be joining him in the 2018 class. But that doesn’t mean Jarren is ready to close his recruitment. Jarren is taking an unofficial visit to Kentucky on Saturday for the Tennessee game.

“He thinks that Kentucky is going in the right direction, but at the same time he wants to make sure that, ‘Hey, if I’m 100 percent on Kentucky, I want to make sure that I’m 100 percent.’ If a new school like Ohio State, or an Alabama or a Florida State comes calling, in all respect to those coaches, he wants to listen,” Anthony Williams said. “There’s nothing going farther than him listening. If they said something that’s intriguing to him, makes him want to investigate a little bit more, then I think he would do that.”

With Ohio State worried that Alabama could flip 4-star quarterback commit Emory Jones, the Buckeyes have begun to circle back to Williams. Ohio State quarterbacks coach Ryan Day visited Williams on Monday. Both Williams and Jones are Georgia prospects. Williams is the No. 8 dual-threat quarterback in the 2018 class, and he’s Kentucky’s highest-profile commitment.

Here’s the full conversation Anthony Williams had with SEC Country on Thursday.

Q: What is the latest on Jarren’s recruitment, including reports that Alabama is still in regular contact?

Anthony Williams: “Of course Jarren has a relationship with a lot of those guys, dating back to about a year and a half now. They still reach out to him. Alabama, Ohio State is keeping in contact with him. (Ohio State quarterback coach Ryan Day) came down this past Monday to visit with Jarren. So, you’ve got those two schools. Of course you’ve got South Carolina who still remains in contact with him as well, and LSU.”

Q: Is Ohio State reaching out a new development?

Anthony Williams: “Well, Ohio State has been reaching out to him. With the situation with their quarterback right now, I think they’re kind of unsure. They’ve been pretty active.”

Q: Is speculation that Emory Jones might de-commit from Ohio State affecting anything Jarren is doing?

Anthony Williams: “Well, Jarren is committed to Kentucky. Emory, I can’t really speak for him. I think he’s just going over his options like every kid should. I know sometimes schools don’t like for guys to go on visits or whatever, but I believe that if you’re selling your program to be the best, it shouldn’t bother a school whether or not a kid goes visit. They’re gonna have an opportunity to choose where they wanna go.”

Q: Does Jarren have any official visits lined up?

Anthony Williams: “No, he doesn’t have any official visits lined up. We haven’t lined that up with Kentucky. We’re trying to get down there in December for an official.”

Q: How would you characterize Jarren’s level of commitment to Kentucky?

Anthony Williams: “I don’t like to put percentages on anything. I mean, he’s committed. I just know Jarren wants to win. Right now he’s frustrated. And this is just something going on internally with him and his team. He’s frustrating because Jarren put in the work. Jarren’s going above and beyond. When he’s seeing other players not doing the same thing, he questions their commitment. I think it’s to the point right now where he wants to win, and he wants to win bad. He wants to win now. I think he’s just kind of tired of being on those subpar teams that the athletes are really not committed. You really wanna be with a winning program. That’s kind of where his head is.”

Q: So what has he thought of Kentucky’s season so far, and how important is it for Kentucky to keep winning to keep his commitment?

Anthony Williams: “I think he wants to be around players that want to win. Kentucky has certainly demonstrated that they’re winning. They’re 5-2. But I think for him, he’s looking at it from a point of view that he wants better players around him. He wants more explosive players around him. He realizes that football is a team sport and he can’t do it by himself. We got out there and we average 37 points per game and still lose. That’s frustrating because he felt like, ‘What else could I have done?’ He’s always kind of looking for ways to put his team in a better position to win. You look at Kentucky, the players they’re bringing in, he believes those players are gonna make an impact and they’re gonna help that program around. He thinks that Kentucky is going in the right direction, but at the same time he wants to make sure that, ‘Hey, if I’m 100 percent on Kentucky, I want to make sure that I’m 100 percent.’ If a new school like Ohio State, or an Alabama or a Florida State come calling, in all respect to those coaches, he wants to listen. There’s nothing going farther than him listening. If they said something that’s intriguing to him, makes him want to investigate a little bit more, then I think he would do that.”

Q: With Ohio State coming in late to the process, what was their message to him?

Anthony Williams: “What people don’t understand is that Ohio State’s not coming in late. Ohio State came down and did a camp at our school. Urban Meyer had an opportunity to talk to Jarren then. So, that relationship was always there. Although they had a commitment in Emory Jones, he always told Jarren that he really thinks Jarren is a special talent. When the whole thing happened with Emory Jones, I think that kind of furthered things along. They are pursuing Jarren. What they’re telling Jarren is that he has an opportunity to play. I think one of their quarterbacks, (Day) didn’t really mention which one, that may be transferring out. That could create an opportunity that they may take two quarterbacks in 2018.”

Q: When listening to Alabama or Ohio State, Jarren doesn’t seem to be concerned with the playing time competitions that might exist. Is that right?

Anthony Williams: “The competition is not gonna scare him off. I think he welcomes competition, and I think Jarren believes he’s the best. And he believes that in order to be the best, you have to compete against the best. What Jarren’s looking at is, ‘Where can I go and compete right away an win?’ Cause he wants to win. He wants to play on that big stage. For the first time, I kind of felt his emotions after our previous game. All the things that he’s been telling me about winning and just being around the right players that have the same goal. That’s what he wants to be around.”

Kelvin Joseph has LSU at the top

Joseph is a well-known commodity in Baton Rouge largely because he was committed to LSU for two years before reopening his recruitment at the start of the month.

The blue-chip defensive back maintained that the Tigers were his No. 1 team even after de-committing on Oct. 2. Joseph echoed those sentiments again at his Army jersey presentation.

“They’re still my No. 1 school,” Joseph said. “They never did fall. It was just what they were going through, but they’re right on track now.”

Joseph, of course, is referring to the Tigers’ three-game win streak which began after the shocking homecoming loss to Troy.

Joseph was on hand in Death Valley when LSU defeated Auburn in comeback fashion, his first unofficial visit back to town after reopening his recruitment. Thus far, not much has changed, especially in regards to his relationship with secondary coach Corey Raymond.

“It was a little funny, but it was the same. They showed respect and I wasn’t told anything negative. Everything was positive,” Joseph said.

“It’s pretty much the same,” he added, on Raymond. “He takes care of me, talks to me like I’m his son. It’s a great relationship.”

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Joseph has taken one of his official visits — to Florida State — and will be in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Nov. 4 when Alabama hosts LSU. He’ll be in Clemson the following weekend.

Joseph was on hand for LSU’s victory over Auburn and returned earlier this week with his father while the coaches took advantage of an off-week. He expects to officially visit LSU in January ahead of his National Signing Day decision.

Joseph received an indirect shout out from coach Ed Orgeron, who laid out the Tigers’ biggest needs in the 2018 recruiting class — some cornerbacks to replace Donte Jackson and Kevin Toliver and a big safety. Naturally, Joseph appreciated the hint.

“It’s great,” he smiled. “I’m blessed to have this opportunity and to show off for my school and my family and all my friends who supported me.”

Each month, SEC Country evaluates the best prospects in The Boot.

We have unveiled three different versions of the Class of 2018 rankings before releasing a sneak peek into the junior crop. Louisiana’s 2019 class has looked the part as one of the deepest collections of talent in some time, potentially rivaling the state’s 2016 and 2014 classes.

Midway through the fall, certain prospects have cemented spots inside the top 20, and there are others who are making a strong case to crack the top 30. Here are the top 19 prospects who have separated from the pack in the inaugural Class of 2019 prospect rankings. Expect a full, updated top-30 rankings after the season.

8. Tyrion Davis, 4-star RB (6-foot-1, 215 pounds); LSU commitment

Tyrion Davis is a prototypical downhill runner, but is equally effective as a pass-catcher coming out of the backfield. His big frame does not take away from his athleticism. Davis can run through or around would-be defenders. While he splits reps in the Southern Lab backfield, he often churns out 100-yard and multiple-touchdown efforts on a week-in, week-out basis. He runs with a head of steam and is relentless when he sees space.

6. Devonta Lee, 4-star ATH (6-foot-3, 193 pounds); uncommitted

Devonta Lee’s stock has risen in recent months after adding a few more positions to his resume. The 4-star receiver is a monster playmaker. He boasts incredible vertical ability and will win the majority of jump-ball scenarios. He’s equally as effective catching tough passes over the middle and taking a screen pass to the house. He plays with toughness and punishes would-be defenders. Lee has spent some time rushing the passer and seen snaps at safety, where he’s made sacks and interceptions a regular occurrence. He could play safety at the next level.

5. Trey Palmer, 4-star WR (6-foot-1, 177 pounds); uncommitted

It’s worth noting that Trey Palmer is arguably a better track runner and baseball player than he is a football player, which is scary considering how high his ceiling is as a wide receiver. Palmer’s sub-4.5 40 time shows up even faster on film. He can beat defenders over the top or around the edge on jet-sweeps and handoffs. He has deceptive yards-after-catch potential and is a handful to bring down. He’s a well-rounded receiver capable of playing inside or outside.
