North Charleston (S.C.) Fort Dorchester quarterback Dakereon Joyner released his top five on Friday night, and to Alabama fans' delight the Crimson Tide made the cut.
Other programs on the list include Georgia, North Carolina State, Oregon, and South Carolina.
Joyner recently told 247Sports' Ryan Bartow that South Carolina and North Carolina State were tied atop his list, but that he planned to visit Tuscaloosa before making a June 18th commitment.
“Alabama is changing with another dual-threat quarterback in Jalen Hurts," Joyner told Bartow. "Before they offered me as an athlete. I’m glad they offered me as a quarterback now. They see my talent as a quarterback.”
At 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, Joyner is rated the No. 9 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 198 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
South Carolina is currently the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite at 87 percent.

Alabama hosted a rapidly rising offensive tackle from Minnesota on Thursday in Quinn Carroll.
The 2019 prospect from Minneapolis (Minn.) Edina Senior earned an offer before leaving campus on Thursday night.
“I was not expecting it at all,” Carroll told BamaOnLine. “Me and my brother Collin, they set up a meeting with Coach (Nick) Saban and us. We didn’t talk for long before he offered me, but we kind of just talked about Coach (Brent) Key, their offensive line coach, how he’s willing to develop his players to bring them to the next level and how great of a coach is, and how great everybody else on the staff is where Alabama is known as the best in the nation.”
He also said he was very, very close to committing but held off. Hank put a CB in for him to Alabama too.

First off, let’s make one thing perfectly clear: this is not Alabama’s official depth chart.
This is derived from the Crimson Tide’s depth chart from a year ago, observations from the first five media viewing periods of the spring football season and pure predictions on my part.
Although Alabama has only held two full-pad practices, it’s never too early to take a look at the upcoming football season, especially in a place like Tuscaloosa. And the Crimson Tide’s depth chart for its 2017 campaign is an intriguing one to discuss, especially in a hypothetical situation like if Alabama opened its season against Florida State tonight -- as Nick Saban cringes.
With the explanations out of the way, BamaOnLine takes a stab at Alabama’s projected depth chart only one day after its fifth practice -- or one-third of the way through the spring season.

I'm putting these here because it seems like our depth chart is scaring off some recruits in this class.

Quarterback
Jalen Hurts
Tua Tagovailoa
Mac Jones
Reasoning: If there were any questions about Hurts retaining his starting job, Saban solidified that after the first day of practice. The rising sophomore quarterback has led the position group through drills with offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, but the pair of early enrollees have not disappointed.

Running back
Damien Harris / **Bo Scarbrough
Josh Jacobs
Najee Harris / Brian Robinson
Reasoning: The running back position is arguably the deepest for Alabama this spring, and while a trio of players have been hobbled by injuries (Scarbrough, B.J. Emmons and recently the older Harris), the Crimson Tide could still boast one of the top backfields with its healthy backs.
Scarbrough led drills Thursday with Harris (sprained foot) somewhat limited, and the freshman duo of Harris and Robinson have been impressive in only five collegiate practices so far.
“We’ll be at practice and I kind of look back and it’s like, ‘We’ve got this many guys,’” Harris said. “There’s a lot of talented guys, a lot of guys that are ready to work hard. The new guys have come in and really adapted well to the mindset and just kind of how we do things around here.
“So all the young guys are doing a great job, the old guys, we’re trying to get back to where we were last year as well as lead the younger guys. So I think we’re going to become a really tight-knit group and work toward being an explosive unit this year.”
Goddamn we are deep at RB.

Wide receiver
WR-X -- Calvin Ridley
T.J. Simmons
WR-Z -- Cam Sims
Tyrell Shavers
**Derek Kief
WR-H -- Robert Foster
Jerry Jeudy
Reasoning: Ridley, Sims and Foster have led the group all spring, and Saban said Foster is a player the Crimson Tide needs to have a role this season. But Jeudy was also the first player he mentioned, unsolicited, that has performed well in the early goings of the team’s spring practice schedule.
Robert Foster may have finally figured it out.

Tight end
TE -- Hale Hentges
Major Tennison
TE-H -- Miller Forristall
Irv Smith
Ronnie Clark
Reasoning: Forristall has been the first tight end through individual drills with new position coach Joe Pannunzio, and the rising sophomore could fill the receiving and blocking void future first rounder O.J. Howard leaves on the offense. With Hentges and Smith returning to the fold and Tennison joining the group as a freshman, the Tide has a formidable foursome at tight end.
“There’s a good bit of depth,” Hentges said. “We have guys like Irv Smith, who is extremely good. A lot of people haven’t heard much about him yet just because he didn’t play a whole lot last year, but this guy has a ton of talent. I’m sure you guys are going to be seeing him coming up in the coming season.
“Then we have another guy, Major Tennison, who has done a really good job for us. He’s just a freshman, he’s trying to figure it out, but he’s getting better and better every day.”
Ronnie Clark at H-back could be a weapon if he's fully healthy.

Offensive line
LT -- Jonah Williams
Chris Owens / Scott Lashley
LG -- Ross Pierschbacher
Dallas Warmack
Richie Petitbon
C -- Bradley Bozeman
JC Hassenauer
Josh Casher
RG -- Lester Cotton
Brandon Kennedy
Deonte Brown
RT -- Matt Womack
Alex Leatherwood / Elliot Baker
Reasoning: The offensive line is another deep position group this spring, and the players at the top of their respective positions have consistently been first through drills. In terms of the players behind them, Lashley and Leatherwood switched sides Thursday for the first time this spring and should push their older teammates for spots in the pecking order at both tackle positions.
There’s not an immense amount of experience along the offensive line, but there’s doubting the talent Saban and company have compiled that will make the rest of the spring interesting.
Womack at RT is a little surprising, but as long as we don't have 3 false starts a game next season I'll be happy.

Defensive line
DE -- Da'Shawn Hand
Raekwon Davis
NG -- Da'Ron Payne
O.J. Smith
DE -- Joshua Frazier
Isaiah Buggs
Quinnen Williams
Reasoning: Watching the defensive line Thursday, Hand, Payne and Frazier were the most consistent trio at the front of the line. Davis and Buggs both made appearances, and Williams is a player the Alabama coaches raved about a year ago for his efforts on scout team. All of the above players will need to step up their games to replace the NFL talent leaving Tuscaloosa.
“I think Isaiah Buggs can be a good player,” Saban said. “Da’Shawn Hand has been a good player for us. Da’Ron Payne has played a lot of football around here for two years and been a good player for us. Raekwon played some last year. Quinnen Williams is going to have to play some. Josh Frazier played quite a bit last year. We’ve got a couple other freshmen coming in. I mean, they all need to get better and they all need to improve, but we’ve played with worse.”
This doesn't look as bad as I thought it would.

Outside linebacker
SAM -- Christian Miller
Jamey Mosley
Ben Davis
JACK -- Anfernee Jennings
Terrell Hall
Reasoning: The same can be said about the outside linebackers. With Tim Williams and Ryan Anderson moving on to the league, guys like Miller, Jennings and Hall will have to progress and mature this spring, and so far, they’re doing exactly that. Davis made the switch to outside linebacker to begin the spring and has been working as a nickel backer, per Saban.
We need these young bucks to fill some pretty big fricking shoes. I hope they can do it.

Inside linebacker
MIKE -- Rashaan Evans
Mack Wilson
WILL -- Keith Holcombe / **Shaun Dion Hamilton
Joshua McMillon
Dylan Moses
Reasoning: Hamilton (knee) has worn a black, no-contact jersey through the first five practices but has spent the past two practices with his position group instead of solely with a trainer. But he won’t be rushed back into action, and that will give some younger guys an opportunity. Evans and Holcombe have been the first two up, but there’s plenty of youth to push them this spring.
“We have a lot of guys that can contribute,” Evans said. “Even though Shaun is out, I feel like it’s going to put more pressure on the guys who are younger to step up. And even then, when we leave, when me and Shaun leave, it’s going to be the same thing when they come up.
“They’re going to have to be those guys that have to lead. So I feel like this really is a good situation for everybody in this situation, because now it’s allowing those guys to really kind of get that feel of what it feels like to actually be a leader and actually be a starter, as well.”
I hate that SDH got hurt in the SEC Championship Game. I think if he had been healthy for the playoffs we'd be celebrating another title.

Cornerback
CB -- Anthony Averett
Trevon Diggs
**Aaron Robinson
CB -- Minkah Fitzpatrick
Levi Wallace
STAR -- Tony Brown
Shyheim Carter
Reasoning: Fitzpatrick has returned to his old stomping grounds and filled in at the left corner vacancy left by Marlon Humphrey. Brown has also practiced with the corners, returning to his post at Star from last year and joining experiments like Diggs and early enrollee safety Daniel Wright. Robinson has appeared limited in the past few practices but should factor in once healthy.
Damn we need some corners in this class.

Safety
FS -- Ronnie Harrison
Deionte Thompson
SS -- Hootie Jones
Xavier McKinney
**Jared Mayden
Reasoning: Harrison is back after starting at safety as a sophomore a season ago, and Jones has played alongside him when we’ve received a glimpse at Alabama’s nickel secondary. But young players like Thompson and McKinney are providing solid depth with a lot of potential. Mayden (hip) joined Hamilton on the field in a black, no-contact jersey Thursday.
Can't wait to see McKinney on the field.

D'Andre Litaker's torn ACL is not affecting his recruitment by some of the top programs in the SEC.
"It's starting to pick up," the four-star defensive tackle prospect told AL.com Sunday at Nike's The Opening Atlanta regional camp. "The recruitment's going real well. Right now I'd have to say Tennessee of course, I'm starting to hear from Alabama a little bit more, LSU, South Carolina a lot now. Those are really the schools that are interested in me the most."
Litaker, who stands at 6-foot-2, 298 pounds, tore his ACL in the first game of his junior season last fall at Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
"That was tragic," he said. "I'm starting the recovery... I'd say (my knee's) about 75, 80 percent. I'm running full speed now and doing all that, just can't have any contact just yet. That's where it's at. Sooner or later I'll be back to 100 percent. April, May, something like that. I'll be ready to go."
While some believe Tennessee is the team to beat, Litaker made it clear he has no favorites at this time.
"In-state schools are always going to be the hardest to recruit you," he said. Tennessee of course recruits me the hardest. I'm the No. 1 d-tackle priority besides and Brant (Lawless) and Greg (Emerson). Tennessee is in the mix with everyone else."
Litaker did not take part in The Opening, but wanted to attend to see the talent on the field. The day prior he was in Tuscaloosa.
"It was great," he said. I loved it. Absolutely loved it.
"I met with (Nick) Saban and (Karl) Dunbar. They were talking about how some of the d-line is leaving. Most of the d-line is seniors, but they have juniors that are possibly going to the draft. That's the thing about Alabama. Their d-line's always successful. They know what they're doing and they put guys in the league. We were talking about that to see if I'm willing to be in my future."
Though Litaker did not list Auburn among the schools he hears from the most, he said the Tigers are also a factor.
"They're in the mix," he said. "I still talk to Coach (Rodney) Garner a lot. He's a real good dude also. I just haven't had a chance to go down there yet. I went to a camp before, I just haven't gone back to visit.
"They're not just worried about football. They're worried about my priorities and want me to be successful in the future. They want to be on top of me."
Litaker is ranked as the nation's No. 18 defensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite. When would he like to make his commitment?
"It might be (National Signing Day) so I can surprise everybody," he said. "Or, what I'm thinking now, is it might be the beginning of my senior year or the middle of the football season."
