Who was the guy from this past recruiting cycle that was fast as hell and kinda small I guess. I think he was from the Chicago area. I know his grades were a problem.

Jeff Thomas from St. Louis?

Alabama currently has the nation’s No. 28 recruiting class and the 10th best in the SEC, according to the 247Sports composite. The Crimson Tide only have 10 commitments, so for them to be ranked that highly shows how elite this class already is.

Coach Nick Saban himself said the team can only sign 22 Class of 2018 recruits because of the delayed enrollment of Hunter Brannon, Joseph Bulovas and Jarez Parks in the 2017 class because of blueshirting in Brannon’s and Bulovas’ cases and greyshirting for Parks.

How will Alabama fill out the rest of its 2018 class on the defensive side of the ball and on special teams? Here are SEC Country’s latest projections:

DL: Stephon Wynn Jr.*, Bobby Brown, Caleb Tremblay

Analysis: Wynn has been quiet since he committed to Alabama in July. He said at the time that he’s not expecting to take official visits to anywhere other than Alabama.

There are several schools in the mix for Brown, most notably Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma, in addition to Alabama. The Crimson Tide have been recruiting Brown very strongly. I expect them to lock in one of their top defensive tackle targets.

Tremblay emerged on the scene in June after a strong performance at Alabama’s camp. It’s hard seeing him choose any other school when he makes his decision.

Confidence level: 60 percent

No Coynis Miller.

LB: Jordan Davis*, Cameron Latu*, Eyabi Anoma, JJ Peterson, Vernon Jackson

Analysis: Davis couldn’t be any more vocal about his commitment to Alabama. He loves everything about the Tide and has said he’s 2,000 percent committed.

Latu committed to the team in August. It’s not known yet if he will take official visits elsewhere, but I don’t expect him to change his mind on Alabama.

Anoma has visited Tuscaloosa twice already and is expected to return to campus this fall for an official visit. Alabama and Maryland appear to be the favorites. I fully expect the Tide to land his commitment. Those in Tuscaloosa are very confident on this one.

Peterson has named Alabama his leader for several months now. I’m surprised he hasn’t committed yet. He has said he will make his decision after his senior season, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see him commit sooner than that.

Jackson will announce his decision this Friday. If he chooses any school other than Alabama, I will be very surprised.

Confidence level: 85 percent

That would be one hell of an OLB haul.

That's him!! He was from St. Louis, Chicago.

I really wanted him in our class. We did really well with WRs, but he was just different. What ended up happening with him?

DB: Jalyn Armour-Davis*, Tyson Campbell, Nadab Joseph, Saivion Smith

Analysis: Armour-Davis is locked in with his commitment to Alabama. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him take official visits elsewhere, but I would be stunned if he flipped his commitment.

Campbell visited Tuscaloosa in July and things couldn’t have gone better for Alabama’s chances with the team’s No. 1 cornerback target. There’s still lots of time left in Campbell’s recruitment, but this is trending in a positive direction for the Tide.

Joseph de-committed from LSU in August. I was actually surprised he just didn’t flip his commitment to Alabama at the time. The Crimson Tide have been trending for several months now.

Smith makes the list for the first time. Alabama defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley was at Smith’s game last week at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College where the former LSU defensive back impressed. With him wanting to choose a school that will offer a chance for immediate playing time, I think the Tide’s wide-open depth chart at corner next season will be too enticing for him to pass up.

Confidence level: 35 percent

I could dig it, but I really want Josh Jobe too and not just because I'm spiteful.

Analysis: Delong committed to Alabama over the summer and isn’t planning on taking visits elsewhere. He’s locked in with his commitment.

Confidence level: 99.9 percent

Apparently LSU has been contacting Delong a lot lately.

He somehow got into Miami after not having the grades good enough to get into Alabama.

Miami has higher admission standards than we do.

SEC Country released its latest mock signing class on offense for Alabama and will release the predictions on the defensive side of the ball on Thursday. So, you’ll get a glimpse of who got left off the list.

Below, we take a look at the players who just missed the cut for the mock signing class.

quote:

QB — Tanner McKee

As I’ve said for a few months now, it’s going to be difficult for Alabama to sign an elite 2018 quarterback because the team’s depth chart at the position is young. But, my choice of leaving McKee off the list has nothing to do with depth charts because he’s essentially a 2020 prospect. McKee will serve a two-year Mormon mission after graduating from high school.

I think Alabama is in good shape for McKee, but I know how badly he wanted that offer from Stanford. The California prospect got that offer and plenty of 247Sports Crystal Ball picks started to roll in.

McKee will take an official visit to Alabama on Nov. 4 for the LSU game, so the Crimson Tide will have a chance to stymie some momentum the Cardinal has with him. At this time, I think Ohio State quarterback commit Emory Jones is the likelier option for the Tide in 2018.

WR — Justin Watkins

Watkins recently told SEC Country that he’s down to Alabama, Florida and LSU. In my predictions, I have Alabama closing out the class with Justyn Ross and Jaylen Waddle, in addition to current Tide commit Xavier Williams. Watkins is being recruited as a slot receiver, which is where Waddle is pegged. Waddle is the top slot target in the 2018 class, so if he ends up choosing the Tide, there won’t be space for Watkins. Waddle’s recruitment is shaping up to be an Alabama, Florida State and Texas battle, so if he chooses either of the latter two, Watkins would take his spot in my projections.

This kid is a headcase and ranked lower than Waddle anyway.

OL — Nicholas Petit-Frere, William Barnes, Emil Ekiyor

Petit-Frere is Alabama’s top offensive tackle target. His recruitment is shaping up to be an Alabama, Florida and Notre Dame race. Petit-Frere doesn’t give up any clues to where he’s leaning. I think Alabama has a good chance at landing his commitment, but I’m not confident including him in Alabama’s class knowing I have supreme confidence in Jarrett Bell, Tommy Brown and Penei Sewell being the three offensive linemen in this class.

Barnes is high on Alabama’s wish list, but it would be shocking if he committed to any school other than Florida.

Ekiyor is committed to Michigan, but he’s one of Alabama’s top offensive guard targets. He visited Tuscaloosa in July for the Champions Cookout, and there’s some thought that he’s not 100 percent solid to the Wolverines. I have Sewell rounding out the Tide’s offensive line class in my projections. Sewell and Ekiyor are both being recruited as guards. If Sewell opts for Oregon, Ekiyor would take his spot.

I really, really want Petit-Frere in this class.

DL — Coynis Miller

Miller has said that Auburn and Florida are the two schools that are sticking out to him the most, with the Gators being his leader. Alabama is likely his No. 3 school at the moment. This recruitment will likely have some twists and turns over the next few months. Miller was in Tuscaloosa last weekend for the Fresno State game, and from my vantage point on the sidelines, he looked like he was enjoying himself.

LB — Andres Fox, KJ Henry, Micah Parsons, Quay Walker

Fox is down to Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Stanford. Alabama is going to have a loaded linebacker class this year, and I don’t think there’s going to be room for Fox to jump on board.

I was really close to including Henry in my projections, and I may do so after he takes his official visit to Alabama this fall. This recruitment is likely an Alabama-Clemson race, though he won’t say that publicly. He’s visited Tuscaloosa several times and is already comfortable there.

Parsons visited Tuscaloosa in July, but his recruitment is too much of a mystery to predict at this point. Interestingly enough, Jeremy Birmingham, who covers Ohio State recruiting for our Land of 10 site, didn’t project Parsons to sign with the Buckeyes. Ohio State is viewed as the favorite. There are some off-field concerns with Parsons and multiple teams recruiting him.

Walker is currently committed to Alabama, so it was clearly difficult to leave him off the list. Out of the current Tide commitments, he’s the least locked in one out of the 10. He’s expressed his desire to take visits elsewhere, and Auburn and Florida State are pushing hard for a flip. It wouldn’t surprise me either way when it comes to him sticking with his commitment or flipping.

DB — Kelvin Joseph, Josh Jobe

Joseph is committed to LSU. At one point, it seemed like a flip to Alabama was inevitable. That doesn’t seem very likely anymore, although the Tide are pushing for Joseph.

Jobe is committed to Miami, but he’s still strongly considering Alabama and Michigan. The Crimson Tide definitely want Jobe in their class, but I just feel more confident in Tyson Campbell, Nadab Joseph, Jalyn Armour-Davis and Saivion Smith being Alabama’s defensive backs in this class.

I want him because he's physically ready to play from Day 1. He may not be a true corner, but he's still a beast.

The Florida mod for SEC Country predicted Coynis Miller to sign with the Gators:

quote:

DL: Andrew Chatfield, Malcolm Lamar, Coynis Miller, Taylor Upshaw*

Analysis: Upshaw joined Florida’s class in June and remains solid with that pledge. The Gators are viewed as the team to beat for Chatfield, who de-committed from Ohio State in August after visiting UF. Oregon currently holds a commitment from Lamar, but he is still strongly considering Florida and plans to visit Saturday for the Tennessee game. The Gators will continue recruiting Miami commit Nesta Silvera, but right now Miller appears to be their best bet at a quality defensive tackle. Florida has been his No. 1 school for a few months.

Confidence level: 60 percent

The LSU mod for SEC Country predicted Andres Fox to sign with the Tigers:

quote:

DL: Davin Cotton, Nelson Jenkins, Dare Rosenthal, Jarell Cherry, Travez Moore, Dantrieze Scott, Ja’Quon Griffin, Andres Fox

Analysis: Clearly, this is a crowded group of defensive linemen and edge rushers. Some are more solid than others. Expect the likes of Cotton, Jenkins, Rosenthal, Cherry, Scott and Moore to stick. Griffin may be a different case. While the 3-star Georgia defensive end has maintained that he’s firm in his commitment, he named Tennessee and Appalachian State as two schools that are pushing to flip him. Appalachian State has made him a top priority, while teammate and one-time Tigers pledge Jamarcus Chatman is committed to the Vols. If and when Griffin flips, Michael Williams is the leading candidate to fill that void. Williams is a defensive end being courted by Dave Aranda. At 6-foot-2 and 260 pounds, he’s an ideal 5-technique. Williams has kept his recruitment close to the vest, but the Tigers should be considered the favorite to reel him in when there’s room.

Confidence Level: 60 percent

With Bobbyg's permission, I got a text from the wife of the homeowner telling me that the house is currently rented but would make it available if a deal could be made. I have only talked with her and not her hubby. She also said the house was not currently listed with a realtor. I think a property management company is handling things for them. I have asked her for a name but she has not responded yet. Hope it works out for you.
