We heard both his coach and recruiting analysts say he hadn't tipped anyone off as to his commitment, yet everyone was leaning Auburn the last 24 hours before he announced.
How does that happen if he never talked to anyone about it?
I think he maybe didn't intentionally tip his hand like "I'm leaning AU", but people could probably tell he wasn't excited with the "we'll use you like we did Drake" comments and also I read somewhere that he'd communicated a concern about playing time at Bama. Maybe they read those tea leaves.

Also from TigerPaw:
quote:
Can't copy & paste so will summarize. Number in parenthesis is the number of spots left according to KN
QB (1) - Justin Fields - UGA/FSU getting buzz but AU continues to think they are in the mix
RB (0-1) - More than likely done though someone like Harold Joiner who could play multiple positions is still an option
WR (1-2) - Justyn Ross/Seth Williams/Anthony Schwartz are top 3 targets with Williams being most likely right now
TE (0-1) - No sure thing AU takes a TE but keep an eye on Michael Parker/Nic McTear/Ben Sims
OL (3) - AU would like to land one more guard and maybe 2 tackles. Trey Hill top guy at guard, Dylan Wonnum top guy at tackle
DL (3-4) - AU aiming for another DT or two and at least two ends/bucks. Andres Fox could commit soon though LSU looks to be trending. Coynis Miller has UF #1 but KN still thinks he ends up at AU. AU looks good for Richard Jibunor who could commit next month
LB (1-2) - JJ Peterson/Quay Walker/Channing Tindall are the top targets. Peterson a Bama lean, Walker a Bama commit but thought to be flippable and Tindall a SCAR lean. Still work to be done here
DB (1-2) - AU done at safety so looking for CB. Kyler McMichael is top target & sounds like his commitment might be shaky. AU/UGA & others waiting to pounce
In the comments someone asked for backup options at QB if Fields goes elsewhere & KN mentioned 3* Steven Krajewski & 3* Yanez Rogers. Someone else asked about other DT targets & KN mentioned 3* John Mincey (Arkansas Commit), Jalen Cunningham (Bama lean) and said Andres Fox could grow into a DT

Perhaps.
He apparently plays some 8-ball pool app with Chip Lindsey all the time.

Hoover thrived last season in the state of Alabama, winning every matchup against in-state opponents - all the way to the Class 7A state title game. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers lost both of their games against out-of-state opponents: a home game to Grayson (36-14) and a road game against Allen of Texas (25-7).
On Friday, Hoover has a chance to earn some football revenge. The Bucs travel to Grayson in a season opener for both nationally-ranked teams.
What do the Bucs want to do differently?
Let’s start on special teams. In 2016, Hoover miscues on special teams gave Grayson great field position, leading to easy scores. It started with an errand Hoover snap on a punt and continued with a muffed punt. Both plays led to fourth-quarter touchdowns for Grayson.
What’s different for Hoover?
The Buccaneers are in a better position to score fast. Or big. While coach Josh Niblett is committed to running the football, a hallmark of the program, receivers Shedrick Jackson, George Pickens and others offer big-play options.
Grayson graduated most of its starters from last season’s 14-1 team. But Hoover can expect to face a new crop of highly-rated college prospects, including Owen Pappoe, the nation’s No. 1-ranked outside linebacker in the Class of 2019.
Can Pappoe interrupt the timing of Hoover’s passing game, while helping Grayson take control of the line of scrimmage? Or will Hoover’s offensive line move the pile forward, and the Bucs utilize its special teams standouts Barret Pickering and Will Reichard?
Grayson is young, having graduated most of the starters from last season’s 14-1 team. But this year’s team is also talented. Pappoe, offensive lineman Wanya Morris, linebacker Kevin Harris, safety Kenyatta Watson II, running back Ronald Thompkins and defensive linemen Tru Thompson and Trente Jones are ranked in the Top 50 of 247Sports composite rankings for Georgia’s Class of 2019.

I want to see how the Sophomore QB from Hoover, Robbie Ashford, handles playing a full varsity game. His uncle posts on BOL.
