someone tied into TD Moultry recruitment (probably know who it is, but I won't mention name) has consistently posted stories about V and his disdain for Bama, and desire to steer folks to Auburn. I trust this person is making factual statements based on other info he's supplied.

Alabama commit Jalyn Armour-Davis of St. Paul’s has been named to the MaxPreps Medium Schools Preaseason All-American football team.
MaxPreps considers medium schools to be those with state enrollment divisions that generally have between 1,000 and 2,000 students. Armour-Davis, a cornerback, is one of 30 student-athletes named to the team overall and one of just three from the state of Alabama.
Linebacker Matthew Flint of Madison County joined Armour-Davis on the first-team defense, while offensive lineman Kameron Stutts of Brooks was selected to the second-team offense.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Armour-Davis, who committed to the Crimson Tide earlier this summer, is ranked No. 3 on the latest 247 composite list of top 2018 prospects in the state.
A first-team Class 5A All-State and All-Coastal Alabama selection, Armour-Davis finished his junior season with 31 tackles and three interceptions on defense. He also had three TD receptions and one rushing score on offense.
Flint (6-0, 213) committed to Tennessee last week. He averaged 7.1 tackles per game as a junior, recorded five sacks and forced three fumbles. He also started at receiver for Madison County and caught nine TD passes.
The 6-foot-4, 329-pound Stutts committed to Auburn on A-Day. He is a three-star prospect.

5-star update
Even though he’s only considering five schools, 5-star defensive end KJ Henry hasn’t noticed much of a downturn in contact from college coaches.
“They’re always going to find time to hit me up,” Henry said. “So, if anything, it probably ramps it up a little bit, because they know they have a chance at me, so they definitely keep hitting me up.”
South Carolina, along with Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Virginia Tech, occupies a spot inside his lead group.
The Gamecocks are pitching him on the opportunity for early playing time at the “Buck” spot, a hybrid outside linebacker/defensive end position. Defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson told Henry early this year that he could be a big-name player for the Gamecocks.
“That’s their special thing — I go down there, obviously, there’s going to be some work that I need to put in, but at the same time, as long as I’m putting in that work, I can definitely be the big name and be the man down there,” Henry said. “That’s what they’re pressing on me right now.”
On Wednesday night, during a scrimmage at Hough High School (Cornelius, N.C.), Henry was dropping into coverage, standing up on the end — doing some of the things he would do at South Carolina.
“I’m starting to get comfortable with it,” Henry said. “It’s definitely something I didn’t do last year, but me, personally, I like standing up and being able to see over the line and things like that.”
Henry’s also impressed with the effort Muschamp’s made in his recruitment.
“I like that, most of all,” Henry said. “The fact that he keeps in contact with me and my parents a lot, as a head coach, it shows a lot of respect.”
According to the 247Sports composite, Henry (Clemmons, N.C.) is ranked as the No. 2 weakside defensive end in the state for the Class of 2018. Nationally, he’s the No. 14 overall prospect.

Three remain
Four-star athlete Matthew Hill told SEC Country reporter Benjamin Wolk earlier this week that he received just three offers this month —Alabama, Auburn and South Carolina — when colleges were permitted to make them official.
Hill, who’s ranked by Rivals as the No. 22 athlete in the Class of 2018, said the Tide, Tigers and Gamecocks are the only three options he’s considering at this point. His commitment is expected to be announced within the next couple of weeks.
“I’m basically just making sure I’m not making the wrong decision,” Hill said. “It’s me sitting down with my family and talking to them about it. I want to make sure this is the right choice because it’s a life thing.
“You’re going to get a degree from the school, so you need to take your time with it. Yes, football is involved, but I wanted to make sure [about] the coaches, academics, the atmosphere.”
Auburn, the longtime favorite, hosted him earlier this summer for its annual Big Cat Weekend. In late July, Hill (Snellville, Ga.) visited South Carolina for the final Spurs Up recruiting event of the year.
“I like the coaching staff and atmosphere. I went there most recently with my coach who went to South Carolina,” Hill said. “I just have a strong connection with a lot of the staff and like the environment around the school.”
He doesn't hold a committable offer from us FWIW.

Vernon Jackson on track to commit later this month
Vernon Jackson, a 3-star athlete from Boling (Texas) High School, admittedly doesn’t do many interviews with reporters. Jackson is a very smart kid. He has a 3.8 GPA and wants to major in either business or kinesiology.
The reason why Jackson chooses to be quiet when it comes to his recruitment is because he fears that he’ll say the wrong thing. He almost slipped up when asked what Alabama’s chances of landing his commitment will be when he announces his decision on Aug. 26.
“They’re really good,” Jackson told SEC Country. “I would say it’s between — I would say they have a pretty good chance. I’m down to my final steps and I just want to make sure I’m making the right choice. I just need to sit down with my family and talk it over.”
Jackson almost said Alabama and one other school are his two finalists. He has two private leaders at this time. Publicly, he chooses to say Alabama, Baylor, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, TCU and Texas A&M are tied. But, without naming the schools, he did say how two of those schools stand out.
“These schools separated themselves just from the way they do things there,” Jackson said. “I believe I’ve been to every school in my top 8, and these two schools stood out. I like different things about them. It’s going to be pretty hard to pick.”
The thought is those two schools are Alabama and Texas A&M. What’s interesting about his recruitment, and if those two schools are in fact his leaders, is the Crimson Tide want him to play inside linebacker and the Aggies prefer him at running back, he said. Jackson plays quarterback for his school. He may be the only national recruit in the country who has schools wanting him to play quarterback, running back, linebacker or safety at the next level.
How does Jackson weigh his options when he has schools wanting him to play all over the place?
“It’s kind of hard,” Jackson said. “I really don’t know, but it’s a good question. I feel like I can play at a high level on both sides of the ball.”
SEC Country was told by one college assistant that Jackson is a freak. He’s a major priority for Alabama. Jackson squats 600 pounds and reps 350 on the bench.
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound prospect visited Tuscaloosa for three days last month. That was his last visit before his commitment. He’s not planning on taking any final trips and doesn’t have any official visit planned yet.
Jackson said Alabama is in contact with him almost every single day, and he talks to defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi, running backs coach Burton Burns and assistant director of player personnel Sam Petitto.
While in Tuscaloosa last month, Alabama made a big impression on him.
“It felt like home to me,” Jackson said. “Everyone is like a family member there. I stayed a couple of days there, so I got to see every aspect of the school. I just liked it there. I trust the coaches a lot.”
The nation’s No. 23 athlete would like to be a coach one day and is legally blind without his contacts in place.
Mods from multiple Alabama recruiting sites say Jackson has the green light to commit if he chooses to do so.

Coynis Miller favoring 2 schools
Coynis Miller, one of Alabama’s top defensive tackle targets in the 2018 class, told Birmingham TV reporter Rick Karle that two SEC schools are standing out more than the other three schools in his top 5.
“Florida and Auburn really got my most interest right now, just from having a great relationship with all of the coaches and the staff,” Miller said.
Miller, who was thinking about making a commitment before his senior season begins at Jackson-Olin High School (Birmingham, Ala.), said he will probably make his decision after his team finishes its schedule.
The 6-2, 300-pound prospect has said in multiple interviews with SEC Country that Alabama was the school recruiting him the hardest via offensive line coach Brent Key, who is Miller’s primary recruiter. Miller also grew up a big Crimson Tide fan, but that won’t play any role in his decision. It should be noted that some close to the Alabama program fear that the team’s chances of signing Miller aren’t as good as they should be because his head coach is an Auburn grad and huge supporter of the Tigers; however, I personally don’t see that being an issue. Auburn also signed Miller’s teammate TD Moultry, who wanted to commit to Alabama, in the 2017 class.
If Miller doesn’t sign with Alabama, some other defensive tackle targets to keep an eye on moving forward are junior college DT Caleb Tremblay, Army All-American Bobby Brown, Florida State commit Robert Cooper, Mississippi prospects Jeffery Johnson and James Williams and in-state prospect Jalen Cunningham.

Alabama missing from Coynis Miller’s top 2
It was only a 32-second video, but Coynis Miller managed to catch us up to speed with several intriguing topics.
In an interview with Rick Karle of WBRC FOX6 in Birmingham, Ala., Miller made a few public comments about his recruitment: how many schools still have a chance, a timeline for the decision, the two programs standing out and his relationship with Tadarian Moultry.
Miller has it down to a final 5 of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Oregon and Louisville, but for the first time, to my knowledge, Miller said two programs are sticking out — and one is definitely new.
Much to my surprise, Miller said Auburn and Florida are the two in the best position.
“Really, Florida and Auburn have my most interest right now, just from having a great relationship with all the coaches there,” Miller told Karle.
Auburn has believed it was in a good position for a while. But to leave Alabama out of that top 2 was a little bit of a surprise. Miller grew up a Crimson Tide fan and he’s a major want for Alabama. The Florida factor will be an interesting one to watch. He’s only visited once, and that came recently, but the Gators clearly left an impression.
Another intriguing part is Miller’s other proclamation.
“I’ll probably make a decision sometime after the season,” Miller said.
Dating back to the spring, that was Miller’s timeline. But he decided to move it up in recent months. It appears his most recent visit to Florida made him reconsider things, which, on the surface, may seem detrimental to the Tigers.
But Miller is a perfect case of someone who, if Auburn has a strong 2017 season, will land in the Tigers’ class.
The fact he didn’t mention Alabama should offer more peace than the entrance of Florida does concern.

Three players at each position of need
Auburn already has a quarterback committed in the Class of 2018, though the Tigers would like to add Justin Fields, if possible. The safety position is virtually filled in this class, which is by design because it was such a major need this cycle.
But the other position groups still have several spots to fill.
Below are three names to keep an eye on at each position throughout the rest of the cycle. That’s three players for six different position groups, so 18 players total. Auburn will likely add about 10 more recruits in this class, so if the Tigers can secure commitments from half the players below, it should be considered a success.
New names are sure to emerge and other names have been left off this list based on priority and interest.

Da'Shawn Hand
The skinny: Michigan was considered the leader for a good portion of Hand’s recruiting process, while Alabama and Florida continued to play catch-up. The Crimson Tide finally surpassed the Wolverines after his official visit to Tuscaloosa in late October, which resulted in his commitment in November. Battling his way through a constant flow of NFL talent on the defensive line, Hand has only managed to total 44 tackles and six sacks in his first three seasons. Now the full spotlight will be on him this fall, so will he answer the call?
Farrell’s take: The depth at Alabama helped contribute to the pedestrian career for Hand so far, but there are no more excuses now. Playing behind Jonathan Allen isn’t easy and Hand has done a solid job moving inside, which doesn’t play to his strengths, but this year he needs to step up and fill the void left by Allen and have a stellar season. The DUI arrest doesn’t help, but he won’t miss any time so the FSU game could be a big start to finally reaching his potential. Hand was an amazing talent coming out with excellent balance, good technique and off-the-charts athleticism.
