gonna be really hard to pull in a good qb with hurts a true sophomore and tua a true freshman.
Well Daniels is a 2019 kid so the prevailing thought was if we missed on a '18 QB we could possibly land the 5-star in two years.

Hank South changed his CB on Dominick Wood-Anderson from Alabama to Foggy.
DWA is announcing tomorrow so Hank says he would like to put a CB in sometime before then.
He thinks it is down to Alabama and Louisville FWIW.

The Louisville 247 mod says he is sticking with his CB for Dominick Wood-Anderson to Louisville FWIW.

As long as we get Luke Ford, I don't care where he goes.

The Louisville mod had this to say regarding DWA that made me spit my out coffee:
Petrino has had one TE drafted during his tenure at Louisville.
Gerald Christian was drafted #256 overall back in 2015.
We, uh, had this guy last year:
And we just hired a TE coach as our OC that comes from the most TE friendly offense in the NFL. What kind of crack is that dude smoking?

Bobby Petrino also has a tight end friendly offense that produces NFL players. Ultimately, Petrino’s offense will showcase Wood-Anderson better than Alabama’s and that could be the decisive factor in Louisville's favor.

It’s become trendy in recent years for some of Alabama’s elite high school teams to play out-of-state competition.
Hoover and Madison Academy – powerhouses that have made multiple Super 7 trips in recent seasons – have been trailblazers in the Bama vs. other states trend.
Let’s take a look at some of the top matchups against out-of-state teams coming in the 2017 season:
IMG Academy (Fla.) at Hoover, Nov. 3
OK, we’ll all have to wait a long time for this one, but IMG’s all-star roster is filled with 4- and 5-star recruits. Hoover’s counters with Auburn commits Shedrick Jackson and George Pickens and Georgia Tech commit Mike Maye anchoring the offensive line. Should be a fun one.
In addition, Hoover opens the season at Grayson (Ga.) in suburban Atlanta on Aug. 25, and then plays Meridian (Miss.) in the sept. 1 season opener. That’s three games vs. out-of-state teams again this season for the defending Class 7A champ.
The Bucs lost to Grayson and Allen (Texas) last season.
Saraland vs. Heard County (Ga.), Aug. 26
Saraland opens the 2016 season in a made-for-TV doubleheader on ESPNU, as the Spartans take on Heard County (Ga.).
This game features two future Power 5 quarterbacks – Saraland’s Jack West, who’s been committed to Stanford since last summer, and Heard County’s Emory Jones, an Ohio State commit.
Holy Trinity (Fla.) at Hewitt-Trussville, Sept. 1
Hewitt-Trussville coach Josh Floyd loves these games, especially early in the season, as a test for his squad.
The Huskies opened with Montgomery-Bell Academy (Tenn.) in 2015 and 2016, going 1-1, and now entertain Holy Trinity (Fla.) start 2017. Holy Trinity’s offense is anchored by running back Jashaun Corbin, who is committed to Florida State.
St. Stanislaus (Miss.) at St. Paul’s, Sept. 1
St. Stanislaus has one of the best nicknames in all of high school sports: Rock-a-Chaws
The Saints went to the private school in the Mississppi coast and lost 49-26, as Rock-a-Chaws QB and LSU commit Myles Brennan threw five TD passes and ran for another touchdown. Led by Alabama commit Jalyn Armour-Davis, St. Paul’s could get some revenge this season.
McCallie (Tenn.) at Madison Academy, Aug. 25
This will be Madison Academy’s season opener, while it’s Week 2 for McCallie, a private school in Chattanooga. Madison Academy coach Grant Reynolds worked a different Chattanooga private school before arriving to lead the Mustangs, so he’s presumably familiar with this opponent.
This game features another team with a unique mascot, as McCallie is the Blue Tornado.
AISA Kickoff Classic, Aug. 11-12
For the second season in a row, AISA schools will open the 2017 high school football season with games played at Montgomery’s Cramton Bowl.
Here’s the schedule:
Aug. 11: Bessemer Academy vs. Lamar (Miss.), 7:30 p.m.
Aug. 12: Autauga Academy vs. Valwood (Ga.), 2:30 p.m.
Aug. 12: Escambia Academy vs. First Baptist (S.C.), 7:30 p.m.
Who else?
There are a smattering of other games involving out-of-state teams, and here’s a few:
Jay (Fla.) at Flomaton, Aug. 25
Ramsay at Grayson (Ga.), Sept. 25
Randolph-Clay (Ga.) at Abbeville, Aug. 24
Smiths Station vs. Tate (Fla.), Nov. 3
Alabama School for the Deaf at Florida School for the Deaf, Oct. 21

Best of the best
That’s right. The big uglies – those nameless, faceless offensive and defensive linemen who engage in hand-to-hand combat every play – are the ones who make the game happen.
So, who are the top 25 HS lineman of the last 25 years in Alabama high school football? Check out the list, which goes back to 1992.
This continues a weekly AL.com series looking at the top 25 high school players in the last 25 years at a number of different positions. That means we’re looking back to the 1992 season, and it all leads up to the start of the 2017 high school football season.

24. Anthony Bryant, DL, Sunshine
A mountain of a man at 6-foot-4 and 360 pounds, Bryant dominated on both sides of the ball and earned HS All-American recognition while bulldozing Class 1A competition at tiny Sunshine, which has since closed. He signed with Alabama and later played in the NFL and for seven difference teams from 2005-11.

22. Antwan Odom, DL, Alma Bryant
The 6-foot-7 Odom played on Alma Bryant’s inaugural team that went undefeated in the 1998 regular season and was a Parade All-American as a defensive lineman in 1999. At Alabama, he played in 39 games and finished with 21 sacks. He played in the NFL from 2004-10 and compiled 131 tackles and 23½ sacks.

21. Ryan Anderson, DL, Daphne
As a defensive end at Daphne, Anderson once picked up a Fairhope running back over his head and slammed him to the turf during a high school game. He finished with 105 tackles and 12 sacks as a senior, which followed a 75-tackle, 14½-sack performance as a junior. He played at Alabama as a pass-rushing outside linebacker and was taken in last year’s NFL Draft.

18. Evan Mathis, OL, Homewood
A 240-pounder as an All-State player for Homewood in 1999, he also won a state heavyweight wrestling championship. After signing with Alabama, he packed on more than 50 pounds and started 47 straight games for the Crimson Tide. He’s played for six NFL teams and been a two-time Pro Bowl and won one Super Bowl.

16. Marcell Dareus, DL, Huffman
Another late bloomer, he became a recruiting sensation and raced up national recruiting rankings with 117 tackles and 20 sacks as a senior at Huffman (No. 59 above), where he played with Andre Smith. Dareus went to Alabama and is best known for knocking Texas QB Colt McCoy out of the 2010 national title game and later returning and interception for a TD in the same game. He’s now entering his seventh NFL season with the Buffalo Bills.
It's hard to believe the Class of 2008 has been gone for that long.

15. Dante Ellington, OL, Colbert County
Ellington’s college career imploded at Alabama, so it’s easy to forget how dominating he was in high school. Ellington was named All-State as a sophomore, junior and senior seasons and helped Colbert County win a state title in 1996 and finish as runner-up in 1997.

12. Kerry Murphy, DL, Hoover
A dominant interior lineman, Murphy helped Hoover win back-to-back Class 6A state titles in 2006 and 2007. He signed with Alabama, but poor grades sent him to prep school and he didn’t arrive at Alabama until 2009. His career ended in 2011 after he never made a major impact at Alabama, and he entered a sales career.
Surprised he's this high.

11. LaBryan Ray, DL, James Clemens
The state’s top prospect in 2016 from James Clemens, Ray didn’t disappoint as he finished with 124 tackles, 25 stops for a loss, 13 sacks and 16 quarterback hurries last season. He played in the Under Armour All-America Game, repeated as Class 7A Lineman of the Year and was named AL.com Huntsville-Region Player of the Year. He signed with Alabama.

9. Kenny King, DL, Daphne
The first big-time recruit in Daphne history, King was named a Parade All-American in 1998 and signed with Alabama. He played in the NFL for Arizona and Baltimore and currently serves as the head football coach at his alma mater.

6. D.J. Fluker, OL, Foley
Fluker rose to prominence as a sophomore defensive lineman at McGill-Toolen, but a family move and Hurricane Katrina left him in Foley. A massive 6-foot-6, 350-pounder, he was named a Parade and U.S. Army All-American. He then went on to a standout career at Alabama, became a first-round NFL draft pick and remains in the NFL today.

3. Chris Samuels, OL, Shaw
The 6-foot-5, 315-pound Samuels emerged as one of the state’s top prospects at now-closed Shaw High in Mobile before going to Alabama and becoming a four-year starter. He won the Outland Trophy and Jacobs Trophy in 1999, when he paved the way for Alabama’s SEC title and running back Shuan Alexander’s Heisman campaign. He started all of his 141 NFL games and was a six-time Pro Bowler before retiring with a neck injury in 2009.

1. Andre Smith, OL, Huffman
There’s a legend that an opposing defensive lineman ran away from Smith during a game during his senior season at Huffman, rather than try to deal with the massive mauler. Smith is the only offensive lineman to every win the Mr. Football award, he became an All-American at Alabama, and he was a first-round NFL draft pick.
