LSU is done with its summer camps, allowing them to focus on important visits prior to the NCAA's dead-period set to kick in August 1. Florida's Patrick Surtain Jr. and McDonogh 35 wide receiver Lawrence Keys have taken the Tigers up on their offer to visit the program, while Chase's possible visit remains in limbo.

Patrick Surtain Jr., CB, 6-2, 185, Florida, 5-star

Surtain Jr. and his family took a trip back home to New Orleans this week, allowing them to take in a trip to LSU, the first in quite some time for the elite cornerback. The family spent the day Saturday on an up-close and personal visit--one that only cemented LSU's standing as the leader for his services.

A lot of the LSU staff was not present for the visit, but some key members were there who had a huge impact on the family's standing with the program. The mother was able to get an in-depth look at how the Tigers' staff plans to develop her son both on and off the field. She spent a substantial amount of time with LSU Deputy Director of Athletics Verge Ausberry, who discussed the academic structure and support staff to assist Surtain Jr. in his transition to college. This aspect of the trip was said to have been "huge" for the Tigers.

LSU defensive backs coach Corey Raymond spent the entirety of his time with Surtain, with an assist from LSU cornerbacks Donte Jackson and Kevin Toliver, who were also said to have made quite the impression on the group. LSU general manager Austin Thomas and Assistant Athletic Director/Football Recruiting and Alumni Relations specialist Sharon Lewis are also said to have played a key role.

The Tigers are in as strong of a position as ever following the visit, but will likely have to wait a few months before a declaration is made by Surtain Jr. LSU's biggest competition appears to be Florida State, with Alabama also in the mix, although they seem to be running a clear third at the moment.
