I think Bama will explain to Parker how much they like him, and they will probably offer him at some point.

Alabama will probably wait to see what happens with Dominick Anderson on August 1. I think Bama is the favorite.

I don't think Luke Ford will go to Bama if Anderson does.

I expect Bama will extend offer/take Michael Parker at some point. Alabama considers him a top 10-12 in-state player after watching him in camp.

Dominick Anderson has been Alabama's No.1 TE target since Day 1.

Where did this come from?

Another five-star declining overtures from others is defensive end Xavier Thomas. The Clemson commit still hears from South Carolina and Alabama, but he has not plans to visit anyone other than the Tigers. Thomas added that he believes Clemson lands five-star offensive guard Jamaree Salyer and Top247 wide receiver Justyn Ross. Thomas also admitted that he speaks with five-star defensive end K.J. Henry on a daily basis and believes the elite edge rusher is down to Alabama, Clemson, and Virginia Tech.

So Andrew Bone.

Whew. For a second there I thought we weren't going to land Luke Ford.

Bone used to get some good scoop when Lance Thompson was there, but I don't think he has many contacts on this staff.

Former Alabama receiver ArDarius Stewart, now an NFL rookie with the New York Jets, on Tuesday morning donated a football gift to his old high school. It's a gift which promises to keep hitting at Fultondale -- new jerseys and helmets, including the Schutt F7, considered one of the safest helmets in the sport.

Stewart’s donation totaled about $15,000, said Fultondale coach Richie Busby. With the donation, Fultondale will become one of the first football teams on any level of the sport to don the F-7 helmets in a game. Stewart’s contribution also included the Schutt Z10 helmets.

The Wildcats open the 2017 season Aug. 31 against Tarrant.

“I’m a physical player, so the helmet is the most important part of the game,” Stewart said. “So I had to make sure these guys were set. They’re very protected now, with these helmets. I expect to see a lot of physicality, and a lot of hitting.

“I’m challenging these guys to come out this year and show me something different.”

Challenge accepted.

“I like the helmet,” Fultondale linebacker Ja’Len Sims said. “It was amazing. I didn’t expect it to look like that.”

Stewart was assisted by former Fultondale players Chris Lewis, Antwan Wheeler and Brandon Lewis, who on Tuesday donned the new gear as it was introduced to the 2017 Fultondale team.

Fultondale will wear two different helmets in 2017 – orange and white.

Busby said his linebackers and running backs will likely wear the F-7 model, which features Tektonic Plate Technology, a Helmet Stabilization System and other advancements.

“If my son was playing on this team, I would want him in the best equipment that we can possible have,” Busby said. “I feel like I’m going to do that for these kids.

“Safety is the No. 1 issue everyone is concerned with about football, and the equipment just keeps getting better and better. It’s safer to me than it’s ever been. I’m just excited for our kids to have them.”

Stewart caught 12 passes for 149 yards in 2014, then had 63 catches for 700 yards and four touchdowns during Alabama's national championship season in 2015. He completed his career with 54 receptions for 864 yards and eight touchdowns in 2016.

The New York Jets selected Stewart with the 79th choice of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Counting down the Top 25 runners

How would you rank the top Alabama high school running backs from the last quarter of a century? That is the challenge AL.com has taken on this summer, and it’s been just that – a challenge. It’s a star-studded list that includes 10 former Mr. Football winners and numerous AHSAA state record holders.

We formed a knowledgeable committee that came up with an original list of 50 names based on statistics, honors, film study, level of play and first-hand knowledge. That list was then narrowed to a top 25. The players on this list must have played in high school since 1992. One, in fact, is still active.

This begins a weekly AL.com series looking at the top 25 high school players in the last 25 years at a number of different positions. It all leads up to the start of the 2017 high school football season. So here is our list of the top running backs. Who would make your list? We left a lot of great names on the cutting room floor, so to speak. Feel free to make the case for your favorite player in the comment section below and check back each week for our continuing series.

Next week: Top quarterbacks.
