Four-star quarterback Jack Tuttle proved at the Elite 11 this past weekend that he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the country and an absolute steal for the Utes. Now the Pac-12 squad will be watching the Five-Star Challenge closely, especially to see if they can steal two talented in-state prospects who will be in attendance. Four-star offensive tackle Penei Sewell is one of the top offensive tackles in the country and might be under five-star consideration. He’s been that dominant this offseason. Then there is four-star linebacker Salua Masina, who is looking at numerous Pac-12 schools. It wouldn’t be a shock at all if both ended up playing at Utah since many top prospects from that state prefer to stay closer to home.
Payback for the 2009 Sugar Bowl is going to be a bitch.

We can envision several of the quarterbacks we saw playing on Sunday's but these three kids all show a tremendously high ceiling.
1. Trevor Lawrence, Cartersville (Ga.)- Clemson
2. Justin Fields, Kennesaw (Ga.) Harrison- Penn State
3. Tanner McKee, Corona (Calif.) Centennial- un-committed
Lawrence and Fields are the obvious top two here and there were a ton of guys we could have put in that third spot. Assuming he’s not affected by taking his mission (LDS) right out of high school, we think McKee has all the tools and intangibles to be very successful at the highest level.

Everyone at the event was good but a few players performed even better than we expected. Here is a look at three kids who out-performed their current ranking.
1. Devin Leary, Sicklerville (N.J) Timber Creek- NC State
2. Quincy Patterson, Chicago (Ill.) Eric Solorio Academy- Virginia Tech
3. Jarren Williams, Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett- Kentucky
Leary wowed us with his arm and accuracy at Saturday’s Pro-Day workout, Patterson was flying way below the radar but earned his spot in to The Opening Finals and Williams is another who finished strong on Sunday to earn his invite over several other more highly ranked players.

Biggest Arm
Pretty self explanatory. We know having a huge arm isn’t the most important thing for a quarterback but it sure doesn’t hurt. These kids can fit the ball in to some very tight spaces because of the heat they throw with.
1. Matt Corral, Long Beach Poly (Calif.)- USC
2. Trevor Lawrence
3. Devin Leary
Corral has dynamite in his elbow and has an NFL arm right now. The ball jumps out of Lawrence’s hand and Leary can get a ton of zip on his passes without much of a windup.

Some players have a hitch that needs tweaking, others have a windup and takes time to get the ball out. Not these three kids.
1. Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman- UCLA
2. Camm Cooper, Lehi (Utah)- Washington State
3. Jarren Williams
Thompson-Robinson, Cooper and Williams can all get the ball out quick with very little wasted motion or windup yet still throw with very good accuracy.

A quarterback has to be smart, tough and definitely helps to be mobile in this day and age. You also have to be able to throw it, these guys all have an advanced feel for throwing the rock.

Lawrence does everything well including throw the football, McKee has an advanced feel for timing and anticipation and Fields is a guy we would trust throwing it from anywhere on the field.

Some high school quarterbacks have a college body early, these guys have NFL frames and look like they live in the weight room. These are definitely the guys you want leading your team off the bus.
1. Joey Gatewood, Jacksonville (Fla.) Bartram Trail- Auburn
2. Joe Milton, Orlando (Fla.) Olympia- Michigan
3. Emory Jones, Franklin (Ga.) Heard County- Ohio State
Gatewood is all of 6-5, 235 pounds and looks like a college tight end. Milton and Jones look the part as well and are very well put together.

Whether it’s a pro-style system, spread or combination of the two, these guys have the passing tools and athleticism to fit in well, no matter the scheme.

Fields is an elite athlete with great passing ability, McKee plays in a spread system but is a prototype pocket passer and Corral has great pocket sense, is a better athlete than given credit for and can make all the throws.

From talking to the Elite 11 staff, these are the guys who were not only engaged during the meetings but showed a high level understanding for offensive and defensive concepts.

Several players showed sound football intelligence on and off the field but these three players drew a lot of praise from the coaching staff who worked with all the quarterbacks behind closed doors.

2. Dakereon Joyner, North Charleston (S.C.) Fort Dorchester- un-committed
3. Dorian Thompson-Robinson
Fields ran a 4.51-40 at one of the Nike Regional’s and his 120 Rating was tops among all quarterbacks. Joyner is a kid who could play multiple positions in college and Thompson-Robinson was an all-state receiver as a junior.

This isn’t saying these guys don’t have a big arm, these are the players who understand how to take a little off, change speeds and can get the ball over a linebacker and in front of a safety.

Cooper and Shough both threw some great deep balls during their Pro-Day workout and Tuttle has developed a great feel for how much air to put on all of his throws.

These guys move around well in the pocket, can extend a play, don’t always look to take off and run and rarely get rattled or nervous under pressure.

Fields is a guy we envision being extremely tough to sack in college, Corral has great feet in the pocket and we love the way Jones moves around and his ability to improvise.

There is nothing more frustrating than seeing a quarterback have perfect protection, his receiver breaks open, the fans are on their feet waiting to hear the fight song played only to see their signal caller overthrow a wide open man.

McKee and DTR showed great accuracy during the weekend and although Lawrence wasn’t as consistent as maybe some expected, we know what kind of accuracy he has as a thrower.

Joyner struggled a bit on opening night but showed he belonged with his day two and three performance. Mitchell was money in the 7v7 portion of the camp and Bradley was extremely good the last two workouts as well.

The 24 quarterbacks were asked to pick who they would choose first to start a program (couldn’t pick themselves). Here are the results.
1. Trevor Lawrence
2. Jack Tuttle
3. Justin Fields
Lawrence and Fields are arguably two of the top five prospects in the country, regardless of position. Tuttle was a bit of a surprise choice here but shows how respected he was among his peers. We've said it before, his improvement over the last few years has been incredible.
