So in the first play of his highlight reel Dorian Gerald commits a murder. Prayers for the fallen QBs family.

If that QB played anymore during that game, I guarantee he wasn't effective

His linemen were trying to pick him up and he was like "No thanks, I've had enough."

Hoover state champion kicker Barret Pickering announced his commitment to Nebraska on Tuesday night, picking the Cornhuskers over his "sentimental favorite," Vanderbilt.

The 6-foot, 185-pound Pickering is ranked as the country's No. 2 kicking prospect according to Kohl's Kicking. He was a Class 7A all-state kicker last season.

"He is a smooth field goal kicker who hits clean rotation and has great command of his ball flight," according to the Kohl's scouting report. "Focus this winter and spring will be on his leg strength and hang time on KO's but he showed well at the nations premier gathering of talent. His elite coordination allows him to shows flashes of great punting ability as well."

Pickering hit 19 of 27 field goals, all 49 of his extra points and hit 66 of his 79 kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks.

Coaches are on the road recruiting during the evaluation period. Three prospects - two teammates - reported offers from Alabama on Tuesday.

* Lanett 2019 safety Trikweze Bridges earned an offer. He's about 6-foot-3, 175 pounds. Bridges was offered by Louisville earlier this year and also Jacksonville State. Highlights

"First off I want to say that it is a blessing," Bridges said. "What it means to me is that this just the beginning and I have to stay humble. I've always been an Alabama fan, and to receive an offer from them, it's a dream come true."

* Carver-Montgomery 2019 junior Ke'Shun Brown, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound linebacker/defensive back earned his first offers - Alabama, Florida and Toledo. Not a bad start to the recruitment process.

I linked his information yesterday. It's on the first page too.

* On Sunday, Vigor outside linebacker Desmond Little - all 6-foot-6 of him - reported an Alabama offer. He is also a class of 2019 prospect. Not much is out there on Little as it seems he's been more of a basketball guy to this point, but here's a link to HUDL.

Little doesn't have a 247 profile yet. Here's his one highlight play: LINK

Alabama now firmly in the mix for Jacob Copeland

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Jacob Copeland wasn’t considering Alabama until he visited Tuscaloosa for junior day in late February. His recruitment changed at that point.

The reason why Alabama wasn’t being considered by him was because he felt like the Crimson Tide, historically, are a one-wide receiver offense. If you weren’t that guy, then you’d be nearly invisible on the field. For a wide receiver recruit to openly admit that, the chances are that player would never end up committing there.

“Alabama has really been just a running team,” Copeland told SEC Country. “They send all of those guys to the league. When they did throw the ball, they always keyed in on one receiver every year. It didn’t make any sense to consider them.”

It’s been a 180 for him now.

Copeland had a chance to see Alabama in a closed-to-the-media scrimmage in Bryant-Denny Stadium last month and then followed that trip with one to Tuscaloosa the following weekend for A-Day. On both trips, he saw that offensive coordinator Brian Daboll is going to spread the ball around in his offense. During the A-Day game, Jerry Jeudy, Robert Foster and Calvin Ridley all had more than 100 receiving yards.

The nation’s No. 9 wide receiver was treated like a star when he was in town for A-Day. Copeland sat in the front seat as coach Nick Saban drove his car to the stadium for the scrimmage. Five-star wide receiver Justyn Ross also was in the car. Those two recruits were the only players in town that weekend to receive that treatment.

It was great spending the day with the man of the house??#RollTide???????????? pic.twitter.com/dJEYTA15GJ

I can honestly say today riding in the passenger seat with University Of Alabama head coach Nick Saban was the greatest moment????????????

— Jacob Copeland ???? (@JCope5era) April 23, 2017

Copeland, who will make his commitment known at the Under Armour All-American Game this January, said that if he did choose Alabama and succeeded there, it would go a long way to his ultimate goal of getting drafted.

“Knowing that Saban has put that stamp on you, you’ll most likely be guaranteed to go to the league because Saban has that power to do that,” Copeland said. “I got nieces and nephews I need to look after. I’m in the game because I love it, but at the same time, I’m trying to get that bag.”

The Under Armour All-American said he’s down to his final five schools, which are Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss and Tennessee. He doesn’t have his official visit plans set just yet, but he said it’s going to be very difficult for any school outside of those five to get in the mix.

Florida is the school that’s pushing for Copeland the hardest. He said he hears from nearly every single coach on staff almost every single day, including Jim McElwain. Ever since McElwain got to Florida, he’s prioritized Copeland.

Before making the back-to-back visits to Tuscaloosa, Copeland told reporters that he was down to Florida and Auburn. That’s out the window now. Alabama is definitely a top option for him now and potentially the school to beat.

“You realize that if you go to Alabama, you have to be a savage to be there because all of those guys there are savages,” Copeland said. “Saban’s big thing is if you don’t get right, you’re going to ride the pine.”

MOBILE, Ala. — Andres Fox‘s original top 6 did not include LSU, but after his first and only visit to Baton Rouge this spring, he revised his top schools list to include the Tigers and narrowed it down to 3.

That top 3 of LSU, Auburn and Alabama remains the same, but the 3-star edge-rusher from Mobile, Ala., aims to narrow the field to 1 over the next few months.

The Tigers may be the lone out-of-state school courting the 6-foot-5, 231-pound prospect, but they’re doing so better than both Auburn and Alabama. That’s according to Fox, who is in regular communication with LSU coach Ed Orgeron.

“Basically, they’re saying that I could come in early [and play]. They’re basically selling my dreams,” Fox told SEC Country. “I hear from them every day, from Coach O and some other people. I just hear from Coach O, also the outside linebacker coach [Dennis Johnson] and [assistant personnel director] Derek Miller.”

Fox has been to several college campuses this spring. That includes LSU in March for a mid-week practice, but also to Auburn, Alabama, Florida and even Southern Miss.

During his time at LSU, Fox watched legendary defensive line coach Pete Jenkins and the Tigers’ BUCK linebackers, including Andre Anthony, who was filling in for All-American Arden Key. That is the position LSU is recruiting Fox to play.

The coaching staff alone has emerged as a selling point for the talented pass rusher.

“Coach O, the head coach, is a D-line coach,” Fox said. “And Coach Jenkins — that’s 2 people right there that are really good.”

Fox is planning to commit ahead of his senior season at Mobile (Ala.) Christian School.

Right now, the likely favorite is Auburn with Alabama and LSU jockeying for the No. 2 spot. Fox has made multiple visits to the Plains, and more importantly, has brought his parents along.

Another sticking point: LSU did not extend an offer to Fox until February. That hurt the Tigers’ chances when Fox originally released his top 6, but a visit helped them sneak into the top 3.

Mobile Christian coach Ronnie Cottrell believes Auburn’s early offer — which came last winter during the team’s state championship game — has helped the SEC West rival squeak ahead of LSU. However, Orgeron’s role in Fox’s recruitment has helped LSU make up ground and be a true contender.

“LSU was a little later getting in there, but their head coach has personally recruited him,” said Cottrell. “Of all the head coaches out there, the communication with him personally, Coach O literally has said: ‘This is my guy.’ He compares him to [former Southern Cal DE] Leonard Williams. He was a kid he recruited out of Florida.”

Pushing Bama for Jaycee Horn

Jaycee Horn left his visit to South Carolina with Alabama still listed as his favorite, but the Gamecocks remain firmly in the mix.

The 3-star cornerback from Alpharetta (Ga.) High School was in Columbia for South Carolina’s SpursUp recruiting event Saturday with his little brother, cousin and father, former Pro Bowl wide receiver Joe Horn.

After a scavenger hunt and lunch, the group met with coach Will Muschamp and defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson for a film session.

“Just basically that they need DBs and they made me feel like I was a priority and they had a lot of success with DBs in the past at Florida, so that’s really what I took away,” Jaycee said.

The Horns spent the night in Columbia on Saturday before heading out on Sunday. Joe, who played for the Saints, Chiefs and Falcons in the NFL, came away impressed.

“He liked it,” Jaycee said. “Him and coach T-Rob [Travaris Robinson] talked some during the visit and [with] coach Muschamp, so he really liked it.”

According to the 247Sports, Jaycee (6-foot, 174 pounds) is ranked as the No. 32 cornerback in the Class of 2018.

“I just feel comfortable around Bama,” he said. “And just knowing they didn’t sign any 2017 corners and I’ve got a good chance to play at arguably the best school in the nation, so that’s pretty much what made me put them at No. 1.”

South Carolina is firmly in the mix.

“They fall right behind Bama with Tennessee,” he said.

One of the factors potentially working in Tennessee’s favor is the presence of close friend Jatavious Harris, a 3-star wide receiver who’s committed to the Vols’ 2018 class.

Recruiting roundup

Another round of South Carolina offers went out on Tuesday.

Two went to a set of teammates from Troup County High School in LaGrange, Ga.: 4-star 2019 defensive end King Mwikuta (6-4, 205) and 2020 wide receiver Kobe Hudson (6-2, 185).

A pair of teammates from Austin High School in Decatur, Ala., added South Carolina offers. Four-star running back Asa Martin (5-11 1/2, 195) already had Auburn and Florida on his list of suitors. He’s the No. 12 running back in the Class of 2018. Sophomore cornerback Reddy Steward (5-10 1/2, 160) was first offered by Michigan.

It was offer No. 1 for Jamin Graham, a 6-foot-6, 218-pound defensive end from Etowah High School in Attalla, Ala.

Junior college defensive end Dorian Gerald, who played high school ball in Florence, S.C., picked up an offer from Alabama on Tuesday. Gerald (6-3, 250) is currently enrolled at College of the Canyons in California. Louisville and Texas Tech recently offered.

CORNELIUS, N.C. -- It’s our job at Rivals.com to get the information on which schools the nation’s top prospects will end up signing with when the time comes. But sometimes the best clues come from fellow recruits. At this past weekend's Charlotte stop of the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas, we asked fellow prospects where some of the region's best players will end up and their answers may surprise you.

“Virginia Tech because I don’t think K.J. would go to Clemson now because Xavier Thomas went there. Bud Foster can put boys in the league, so they would be a good fit for K.J.” – Rivals250 RB Ricky Person, Raleigh (N.C.) Heritage

“North Carolina because there’s a lot of big players coming in the class of 2018.”- Rivals250 WR Jordyn Adams, Cary (N.C.) Green Hope

“Clemson because they have a great rep of putting defensive linemen into the NFL.” - Three-star DE Chris Collins, Richmond (Va.) Benedictine

“Ohio State.” – Rivals250 OL Nana Asiedu, Stafford (Va.) North Stafford

“I think K.J. will go to Clemson.” – Four-star DB Nate Thompson, Sanford (N.C.) Southern Lee

No one mentioned Alabama, but at least one kid thinks he won't go to Clemson due to Xavier Thomas.

Safety Tyron Hopper

Recruiting wrap: Hopper has early offers from South Carolina, Alabama and several others.

Performance: Hopper just started to emerge on the recruiting scene and, after his performance on Sunday, it's easy to see why. He has great size for a safety, moves very well in space, and did a nice job in coverage as well. The offers are likely to keep rolling in as it looks as if Hopper will be one of the Southeast's best at his position down the road.
