JaKorey Hawkins

Montgomery (Ala.) Lee defensive back JaKorey Hawkins is red-hot on the recruiting trail and has netted more than a dozen scholarship offers, including Missouri, Ole Miss and West Virginia of late. He is a height-weight-speed cornerback prospect with great instincts on the outside along with enough physicality to perhaps play safety down the line.

He wants an Alabama offer.

Scout's analysis of JaKorey Hawkins:

quote:

JaKorey Hawkins is a balanced cornerback prospect who can fit into multiple defensive schemes at the next level. He has a great frame, right around 6-foot, near 190 pounds, and runs well enough to play at the line of scrimmage or off of the football. Hawkins has a physical flair to his game at the point of contact and it carries over towards his run support. Continued progress with his leverage technique and improved ball skills could propel Hawkins to blue-chip status. -- John Garcia, Jr.

Jonathan Hess

Jonathan Hess has hit the double-digit offer mark as a defensive hybrid. The Birmingham (Ala.) Vestavia Hills prospect is a safety by trade, but he has bulked up to 220 pounds over the last six months and many programs view him as a linebacker at the next level. Hess plays with good balance whether in the box or in space, with the ability to strike a ball carrier or blocker with power.

Allen Love

A recent Louisville offer has the Cardinals in good position for Birmingham (Ala.) Huffman defensive tackle Allen Love, who previously had UL rival Kentucky atop his list. Adding offers by the week, the big defensive tackle has flashed as a feisty competitor all spring long. Love plays with a high-motor and has improved his hand-technique at the point of attack.

Mackie McNeal

Another Birmingham-metro defensive tackle turning heads is Mackie McNeal, a towering 6-foot-5, 300-pounder out of Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson High School. Anchoring what should be one of the top defenses in the state this fall, the rising senior has displayed strength at the point of attack and more fluidity than one would expect through the spring camp circuit. Tennessee, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Louisville are McNeal's Power 5 opportunities at this time.

Kevontae Ruggs

The younger brother of 2017 wide receiver and Alabama Crimson Tide signee Henry Ruggs, Montgomery (Ala.) Lee linebacker Kevontae Ruggs moves to three stars as his stock rises with offers from Ole Miss, West Virginia and others following Alabama breaking the ice earlier this year. He is a long defender who runs well and excels in space with above-average tackling ability.

After defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley stopped Montgomery, Ala. on Monday, Alabama has offered 2019 safety Ke'shun Brown of Carver.

Recently BamaOnLine caught up with the rising defensive back following a visit to Tuscaloosa, to gauge what his reaction would be if the Tide ended up offering.

“It would mean a whole lot,” he said. “It’d make me work hard and stay focused. In the future, it’d be a place I’d plan on going.”

Alabama likes Brown at the Star position.

If Carver sounds familiar, that's where current Alabama linebacker Mack Wilson attended high school. It's also home to a big-time 2020 receiver named Antwan Burnett, who holds an early offer from the Crimson Tide.

At 6-feet, 205 pounds, Brown has yet to receive a 247Sports player rating. He is currently trending to Alabama at 100 percent on the 247Sports Crystal Ball.

Troy also offered Brown on Tuesday.

This guy didn't have a profile when we offered so I couldn't link his stuff. He does now:

Jalen Cunningham, DT, Odenville (Ala.) Saint Clair County

Alabama fans have been waiting for Cunningham to join the class for the last few weeks, but the three-star defensive tackle doesn’t appear to be in any sort of hurry to announce his intentions. The Odenville (Ala.) Saint Clair County recently named a top five, as well as picking up a new offer from Auburn. Alabama still holds the lead by a wide margin. A commitment could be announced at any moment.

Christian Tutt, CB, Thomson (Ga.)

Tutt is still expected to announce a decision on May 30, and by all accounts Alabama and Florida State are currently in the best shape to land the Thomson (Ga.) product. Last month, the four-star cornerback told BamaOnLine if he were to commit today it would be the Crimson Tide. He’s since visited both Tuscaloosa and Tallahassee. With the priority at the cornerback position in the 2018 recruiting cycle, Tutt would be a nice addition in a class that will see multiple others jump on board in the secondary.

Jaycee Horn, CB, Alpharetta (Ga.)

Another cornerback that the Crimson Tide has gained steam with, Horn named Alabama his “clear leader” following a visit for A-Day. The son of former NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver Joe Horn, Jaycee says he grew up an Alabama fan, and his dad has always liked the program, too. The three-star corner says he has no decision timeframe, but he’s not opposed to making a spontaneous announcement.

Quay Walker, LB, Cordele (Ga.) Crisp County

A day after Walker listed a top five of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and LSU, the Cordele (Ga.) Crisp County product told BamaOnLine the Tide was his leader. The four-star ‘backer hopes to wait to announce a commitment until mid-season, but didn’t entirely rule out deciding earlier than that. Walker says he “pretty much” has his mind made up on where he wants to go.

Eyabi Anoma, DE/LB, Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy

Anoma visited Alabama last month, and per a source near his recruitment, Alabama vaulted near the top of his list, if not the top school overall. 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong was on this one early predicting Anoma in the Crimson Tide’s class shortly after he received an offer. The four-star Jack linebacker target would be the first Maryland recruit wide receivers coach Mike Locksley has landed in his role as a full-time assistant.

A Quarterback

Sooner or later Alabama will land a quarterback with multiple options still on the table. On Monday, the Tide saw five-star Clemson commit Trevor Lawrence, as well as five-star Penn State commit Justin Fields. Both will prove tough to land at the moment, but the Tide staff has shown no sign of throwing in the towel. Multiple others, seemingly more realistic options include four-star Tanner McKee, three-star Kentucky decommit Jarren Williams, four-star Stanford commit Jack West, and four-star Utah commit Jack Tuttle. Alabama also recently offered four-star Tyler Shough, who the staff saw last week.

Three prospects added a fifth star and six moved into the four-star range following recent updates from the industry in the 2018 247Sports Composite rankings.

Houston Alief Taylor wide receiver Brennan Eagles was the biggest mover among the new five-star prospects, jumping up 20 spots to No. 23 overall. Ohio State quarterback commit Emory Jones (No. 27 to No. 24) and Penn State running back commit Ricky Slade (No. 28 to No. 26) also moved into the five-star range of the recruiting industry-generated ranking.

Eagles currently has three 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions in favor of the Texas Longhorns.

Two prospects - Ala. WR Justyn Ross and Florida State RB commit James Cook - fell out of the five-star range and are now high four-star prospects ranked inside the overall top 30.

Alabama hasn't shied away from signing junior college defensive linemen in recent recruiting cycles. On Tuesday night, the Tide staff put an offer on the table for another one as College of the Canyons (Calif.) defensive end Dorian Gerald reported an offer from UA on his Twitter account.

Very blessed and honored to have received an offer from the University of Alabama #RollTide pic.twitter.com/fWoNCbIZ7v
— Dorian Gerald (@TopNotchDG) May 3, 2017

Gerald, originally from Florence, S.C., holds a handful of offers with Tennessee and South Carolina being the first SEC programs to throw their hats in the ring.

The 6-foot-3, 250-pounder expects to graduate in December and enroll early, at which point he has three years to play his final two seasons of eligibility.

The Gamecocks are the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite with 100 percent of the predictions.
