Why are our EE’s so down this year?

Alabama recruiting question of the day: Who’s Crimson Tide’s preferred quarterback target?
quote:
Alabama is down to two quarterback targets in the 2018 class. Those guys are 4-star prospect James Foster from Sidney Lanier High School (Montgomery, Ala.) and 3-star prospect Brock Purdy from Perry High School (Gilbert, Ariz.).
Foster took an official visit to Tuscaloosa last weekend while Purdy visits this weekend. Right now, Purdy is the preferred quarterback for Alabama. Purdy has a committable offer and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him go ahead and make his commitment while he’s in Tuscaloosa.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound prospect led his school to a state championship while throwing for 57 touchdown passes and 4,410 passing yards. He rushed for 1,016 yards and 10 touchdowns. Purdy was named Gatorade Player of the Year in Arizona.
As far as what he wants to get out of his visit to Tuscaloosa this weekend, Purdy said he’s just looking to experience everything the city has to offer.
“I just want to make sure it’s a great college town, and I know it will be,” he said. “I obviously want to meet the coaching staff and the players and build a good relationship with them. That’s going to be huge for my family and I. And then, obviously, meeting with Coach [Nick] Saban. That will be a big deal. As a quarterback, you need to have a good relationship with the head coach, so that will be big.”

Coach Saban at the Senior Bowl with our players, Shaun Dion Hamilton, JK Scott, Da’Shawn Hand, Bradley Bozeman, Levi Wallace & Anthony Averett.

I was watching the practices and Levi was locking guys town, Hand was doubled on every play, and Bozeman was playing well.

SDH looks to have put on some weight. He's always been built more like DePreist than Evans, but maybe it's just the picture.

Well. Look who's taking credit for some of Bama's great players.

Some Tennessee fan tweeted this out to Jacob Copeland when Copeland responded to Mack Wilson's tweet.

saw that. Some idiot with the "nothing like rocky top" response too. Yeah right. Nothing like no high draft picks. nothing like 3rd place division finishes (in good years). nothing like losing to your rivals all the time.

Pruitt will have Tennessee a threat again. He's a really good recruiter and he's starting fast. It won't be 40 pt blowouts after a couple years. Just 20 pt wins lol

What a story Levi is. I hope he succeeds in the NFL, and I have a tremendous amount of respect for what he did at Alabama.

Maybe, maybe not. Pruitt's never been HC (not even HS), but he has been an excellent recruiter and DC under three excellent HCs (Fisher, Richt and Saban). Fulmer can help him some too. He'll probably do pretty well, but UT plays Bama, UGA and UF every year.
The state of TN is producing more 4-5* HS talent nowadays, but Bama, UGA, Clemson and other top programs will go after those kids too. He'll be able to sell playing time for a couple of recruiting cycles, but if wins don't ramp up a lot, that shine will dull and he could struggle to ever get them over the hump to being able to win the SEC East.
It'll be interesting to see how it goes.

Muschamp couldn't win at Florida. He is no different fro Pruitt but had a better talent base IMO.

SEC schools come calling for 2018 LB Moody
quote:
Conway (SC) High football coach Carlton Terry always told his linebacker Jaylen Moody he could play in the SEC.
So did his coaches at the CarolinaXposure Football Academy.
Following a strong senior season, that projection came to fruition.
The hard-hitting 6-foot-2, 225-pound Moody landed an offer from Ole Miss in December and Arkansas stepped up to the table earlier this month. Alabama is flirting late with Moody who 247Sports No. 30 inside linebacker in the 2018 class.
“When everything started coming around I was shocked,” Moody said. He racked up 105 tackles including 11.5 for loss and three interceptions in his final high school season.
But Moody also thought it was deserved.
“I always felt I could play in the SEC,” he said.
Now he probably will.
Despite twin brother Juwan being committed to East Carolina, the opportunity to play on the biggest stage in college football is exciting to the other Moody.
“We have talked about it and he understands the situation going on and what may be best for me and we’ve talked about maybe having to split up,” said Moody who at this point typically does nothing without his brother.
A Signing Day announcement is in the plans and Moody is fresh off a good official visit to Ole Miss. With that the 247Sports Composite is all Razorbacks heading into this weekend.
“What mostly attracts me to Arkansas is the football program and the great defensive coordinator they have coming in (John Chavis),” Moody said.
Now Alabama has reached out late and Moody is planning an official for Feb. 2.
“I believe that could change a lot of things,” he said.
Late in the recruiting process, Moody is used to these big changes.

Wtf go after Otis Reese lol

The college football landscape is full of coaches that were very good assistants and good recruiters that failed as a head coach. As previously noted, Pruitt has never been a head coach anywhere. Odds are against being successful in your first ever head coaching position when you're doing it in the SEC. Looks like Kirby may be one of the exceptions, but I am pretty sure he never worked high school at all but went directly into the college coaching ranks.
