2. Ron Tatum III, Putnam City (Okla.)

HT: 6'4 | WT: 250

For a big-framed defensive end type Tatum is pretty quick off the ball, with good frame potential to undergo a transformation in college. He has a quick first step and he is an ideally a big defensive end at the next level with the possibility of moving into the interior of the defensive line as he grows and matures. He has the strength to handle interior lineman and double teams at the high school level right now, but he also has quickness to play on the edge and get past offensive tackles and create havoc in the backfield. He needs to continue to develop his and moves and techniques, but has a lot of upside. Offers from schools like Alabama, Oklahoma, and Texas.

5. Joseph Ossai, Conroe (Texas) Oak Ridge

HT: 6'4 | WT: 217

Ossai is a long-framed, athletic edge defender who could play 4-3 defensive end or odd-front hybrid outside linebacker at the Power Five conference level. Ossai possesses a terrific frame to add weight and he flashes a quick get-off. He has fast, violent hands that will be even more useful as he improves his pass-rushing repertoire. Has a high interest listed in Alabama and Texas A&M.

The Top Five

quote:

1. Anthony Cook, Houston (Texas) Lamar

HT: 6'0 | WT: 168

This is what a cover corner is supposed to look like. He not only has the hips and build of an elite level island corner Cook also has plus size at the position at around 6’0, a true rare combination of skills. He is still a bit skinny but is starting to really blow up frame wise as well and that has helped him catch the eye of pretty much every top program in the nation. He plays against good competition and comes from a program that has been known to produce some of the best defensive backs in the state and has competed strongly at every major camp event on the national level in the off-season, proving he matches up well with receivers who are already bigger and stronger. Cook is considering offers from schools like Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Ohio State, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M and many more.

2. Jalen Green, Houston (Texas) Heights

HT: 6'1 | WT: 170

Green is a physical corner who is not afraid to come up and press the action with receivers at the line of scrimmage. Green has good size and speed. He is pretty big already physically so he can take on or match up with the big-bodied type of wide receivers. We like the confidence that he plays with and that will only grow as his experience on the field grows. He will continue to work on his technique and breaks to become quicker and play a bit cleaner with his aggressive style. His ability to run and change direction combined with size and physicality are what makes him a high level recruit. A national offer list that features schools like Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Penn State and Texas among others.

4. Kelvin Joseph, Baton Rouge (La.) Scotlandville Magnet

HT: 6'0 | WT: 182

A versatile defensive back prospect who could definitely play high-major college football at cornerback or safety. Joseph is a long-framed, long-striding DB who can cover a lot of territory quickly. He shows good instincts and coverage awareness, and he can turn his takeaways into points with his athleticism. Joseph is wiry strong and possesses ample space for bulk addition in college. He closes fast and hard against the run. He can provide the big hit, but can also improve his technique consistency. He is committed to LSU.

Scout's analysis of Verone McKinley III:

quote:

McKinley III transferred from a private school to play against Texas 6A competition as a junior in 2016, and he had a solid season against a higher level of competition. He should be considered as a cover corner and shows the ability to help limit plays on his side of the football field, despite the fact many times the receiver lining up opposite of him has the size advantage. He closes the distance quickly and shows the ability to make a big hit.

3. Vernon Jackson, Boling (Texas)

HT: 6'3 | WT: 235

Jackson is an interesting specimen. The jumbo-framed athlete plays quarterback and linebacker for his high school team and could do a number of different things on the next level. Most have him pegged for the defensive side of he football, where he can use his football instincts and surprising agility to secure tackles. He could also get some looks on offense as a running back as well, and of course as a QB he helped his team to the state championship game s a junior, so he has some definite skill with the football in his hands. Jackson has a Top 5 of Alabama, Baylor, Oklahoma, TCU, and Texas A&M.

5. Gerry Bohanon, Earle (Ark.)

HT: 6'3 | WT: 211

Gerry Bohanon is a big-framed dual-threat quarterback who projects to the FBS and Power Five conference levels. He runs well for a quarterback of his size, and he's a high-production player at the high school level. Bohanon can improve his release point/consistency, but an encouraging aspect of his game is his touch when needing to lead receivers to certain spots. Bohanon is raw, but big and talented, so there's plenty of potential in his game. Bohanon is considering offers from schools like Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Louisville, Mississippi, Mississippi State, and Tennessee.

Ranked as the number-15 running back in America, Dayton (OH) Dunbar's Tavion Thomas is a wanted man in recruiting circles. He holds offers from nearly every top program in America, and the four-star claims he has no favorite list.

Thomas landed an Ohio State offer in February while on a visit, and he made a return trip to Columbus a few weeks ago to meet with the coaching staff.

This Saturday, Thomas will be back at Ohio State a third time for the Buckeye spring game.

"When I was there for practice a week ago, I really had a lot of fun," Thomas stated. "I spent a lot of time with Coach (Urban) Meyer and Coach Tony (Alford), and they are both great guys."

"It feels great to have so many great schools wanting me, and I never thought I would ever be in this situation," he added. "I want to take official visits this fall, because I want to see who really wants me the most."

"I don't want to rush into any commitment, and my coach is working with me to help me through the process," he continued. "I did cut my list to 12, and I will cut it down to five next month."

Even though no official visits are planned at this time, Thomas has an idea of what schools he's interested in seeing next fall.

"I probably wouldn't take an official visit to Ohio State, because they're so close to me," Thomas admitted. "I'm thinking about going to Oregon, USC, Texas, Oklahoma and possibly Florida."

"I think when it comes to choosing a school it's going to be tough, and I'm not sure what will make one stand out over the others," he concluded.

As much as I hate to say it I think Thomas is Ohio State bound.

Keys emerged as one of the state's most sought-after recruits this semester with more than 30 offers from across the country. He sits at the No. 3 spot among Louisiana receivers, a loaded position group in this cycle. Keys owns offers from nine of the SEC's 14 programs.

Glenn Beal, TE, River Ridge (La.) John Curtis Christian

Beal owns the frame requisite for multiple positions as he projects to the college level: tight end, defensive end, even offensive tackle. But his double-digit offers all appear to be for tight end, where he's a huge prospect with intriguing athletic ability. Schools such as Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Ole Miss want Beal.

Scout's analysis of Lawrence Keys III:

quote:

Lawrence Keys III is a big-play receiver who flashes good acceleration to separate from defenders, especially after the catch. He lacks ideal bulk as a high school player, but has enough height to line up outside at times when not in the more natural slot where he projects best in college. Keys can beat secondaries over the top, but also turn quick-hitters into long-gainers in the screen game. Keys is a Power Five-caliber receiver and one of the top pass-catchers in Louisiana for the 2018 class. - Gabe Brooks

Scout's analysis of Joseph Foucha:

quote:

Joseph Foucha is a position-versatile playmaker with big plays to his credit in all three phases of the game. Foucha best projects to the secondary, where he could potentially play safety, cornerback, or nickel. Foucha's best fit will likely be safety, where his frame potential translates well and his playmaking skills may be used best. Foucha hits with speed and power, and he possesses great coverage skills, especially when he can roam territory as a center-fielder. Foucha is a threat to score if he gets his hands on the ball. Foucha is one of the top prospects in Louisiana. - Gabe Brooks

Scout's analysis of Glenn Beal:

quote:

Glenn Beal is the top tight end prospect in Louisiana for the 2018 class. Beal possesses outstanding size -- college-ready, in fact -- thanks to his large frame and impressive bulk for a young prospect. Beal comes from a run-oriented offense and is true in-line tight end prospect with ample blocking experience. Beal is an above average athlete considering his size. He could play Power Five-level football on either side of the ball, though he appears to want to stay at tight end. Beal can seal the edge and win matchups in the run game. He can improve his technique as a blocker and a route-runner. He will also need to acclimate to a more pass-heavy offense when he transitions to the next level, but Beal possesses the physical traits to create serious matchup issues once he develops that part of his game. - Gabe Brooks

This kid may be the top high school TE on our board.

ALCOA, Tenn. — Izuchukwu Ani has a gameplan for finding out where he will play his college football.

It first starts with becoming familiarized with those programs that are attractive as well as understanding what each can offer his future after growing up in another continent.

The 6-foot-4, 219-pound edge rusher already has a double digit number of scholarship offers, including some of the more prominent programs in the Southeastern Conference.

The Nigerian who plays his prep football at Davidson Academy in Nashville, Tennessee, is hard at work familiarizing himself with nearly every program that's shown significant interest. The Scout four-star prospect from the 2019 class has already taken visits this calendar year to Alabama, Louisville, Memphis, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Find out what Ani had to say about those trips as well as his remarks regarding a college decision by watching the InsideTennessee exclusive video above.
