5-star LB Lyndell Wilson
Alabama has been the perceived leader for in-state 5-star linebacker Lyndell Wilson throughout his recruitment.
However, a pair of fellow SEC powers in Florida and Georgia have joined the Tide in Wilson's final group. He will take visits to all three schools in January before deciding on signing day.
While it's tough to beat out Alabama for any coveted in-state prospect, the Gators do hold pledges from fellow Montgomery natives Jeawon Taylor and Antonio Nelson. That could be enough to help the Gators pull off the upset for Wilson.
PREDICTION: Florida
That would sting.

So what is that thing that Freeze can help him with that Alabama coach Nick Saban cannot?
“He’s a very religious guy. He can help me get in touch with my religion.”
What utter bullshite.
Did Hugh Freeze help Denzel and Robert get in touch with their religion?
Denzel and Robbie were both raised in church, yet now they believe in opening the mind and other bullshite. Far from Jesus.
Did Hugh Freeze "religion" help, do this for them?

I don't know if this kid even has a committable offer.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Jacob Mathis will likely play his college ball in the SEC.
The 4-star tight end from Tampa (Fla.) Berkley Prep officially visited Michigan in October, but the Wolverines were unable to land the Under Armour All-American.
Mathis told SEC Country he’s still looking for “that feeling” from a school, and he’ll visit three SEC programs next month in search of it.
Here’s what Mathis likes about each school:
Alabama: “Lane Kiffin. I like him as an OC. He puts everybody in a place where they’re going to succeed and make plays for him.”
Florida: “Obviously if I go in and work hard, I have a chance to play early. There’s a lot of opportunity for me to get on the field.”
Ole Miss: “I love coach (Hugh) Freeze and I love coach (Maurice) Harris, the tight ends coach. Great atmosphere there. I just love the school in general.”
Mathis said Michigan is still in the mix as well. The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder plans to decide on signing day.
“I could see myself succeeding at all the schools I’m considering,” Mathis said. “I’m just trying to figure out what’s honestly best for me.”
I don't know if this kid even has a committable offer.

One of the top offensive linemen in the country has several SEC schools on his mind.
Andrew Thomas, a 4-star left tackle from Pace Academy (Atlanta), told SEC Country that Georgia and Alabama are two of the SEC schools that he is considering right now along with Clemson, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Florida State.
Despite turnover at Georgia with a new coaching staff, Thomas said he has heard from the Bulldogs recently.
“I’ve talked to (Georgia offensive line coach Sam) Pittman,” Thomas said . “I talked to him when he was at Arkansas. He was just telling me that he’s at Georgia now. He’s a good coach.”
The 6-foot-5, 295-pounder also said he talks to Alabama frequently.
“I talk to (offensive line coach Mario) Cristobal and the linebackers coach, (Tosh Lupoi), he said.
The Pace Academy star says he plans on making trips to Ohio State, Alabama and Georgia early in 2016. As of now, no school holds an advantage over the next.
Thomas is ranked as the nation’s No. 15 offensive tackle and is the state of Georgia’s No. 10 prospect in the class of 2017.

It has been a busy week for Alabama targets at the Under Armour All-America game, which features some of the best prospects in the country, in Orlando, Fla.
There are plenty of Crimson Tide targets playing in the all-star game, and we have a recap of what some of the top targets are saying.
quote:
1. Lyndell “Mack” Wilson, five-star LB, Montgomery, Ala.
Recap: The nation’s No. 1 outside linebacker has a final three of Florida, Alabama and Georgia. He told SEC Country’s Zach Abolverdi that Florida leads even though everyone is “all even” and said his decision was 40 percent Florida, 40 percent Alabama and 20 percent UGA. He told another reporter that he was leaning toward Florida and Georgia. Yeah. Everyone is very confused right now.
What it means: Wilson may be the most difficult recruit to read in this year’s class. He’s all over the place. He has told SEC Country that Alabama is his dream school and that the Crimson Tide have the best college football program, yet at one point they were fourth on his list. He has an official visit to Alabama set up for January, and it’s going to be a signing day decision for him. Right now, I think he winds up at Alabama.

2. Cavin Ridley, four-star WR, Deerfield Beach, Fla.
Recap: The brother of Alabama star wide receiver Calvin Ridley revealed to SEC Country that he is down to Alabama and South Carolina. He will announce his commitment on Saturday at the Under Armour game.
What it means: Ridley may seem like a lock to join his brother in Tuscaloosa, but he said that he has no clue which school he’ll be choosing on Saturday. Throughout his recruitment, he’s been considered almost a near-certain lock for Alabama, and I think that’s the school he will choose this weekend, despite him really liking South Carolina.

3. Michail Carter, four-star DT, Jackson, Ga.
Recap: The four-star defensive tackle from Jackson (Ga). High School told Chad Simmons of Scout.com that he will take official visits to Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Clemson, which are his final five schools.
What it means: Georgia and Alabama have always been thought of as the two favorites to land Carter. The Bulldogs’ chances of landing the 6-foot-4, 302-pounder look good now after the team decided to retain defensive line coach Tracy Rocker. But, his relationship with Crimson Tide defensive line coach Bo Davis is just as strong as the one he has with Rocker. The two talk almost every single day. I think it’s going to be a two-team race come signing day.

4. Shyheim Carter, four-star CB, Kentwood, La.
Recap: Despite at least one media report, Carter does not have a final three of Alabama, Georgia and Ole Miss. He did say that those three schools were recruiting him the hardest.
What it means: Alabama’s chances of landing the one-time Crimson Tide commit increased after the hiring of defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. Carter told SEC Country that Pruitt is “one of the best men around.” It’s very possible that he re-commits to Alabama when he decides on signing day.

5. Keith Gavin, four-star WR, Crawfordville, Fla.
Recap: One of the Southeast’s top wide receivers is down to a final two. Gavin will either re-commit to Florida State or choose Alabama.
What it means: It doesn’t happen all the time where a recruit decides to choose a school that he once de-committed from, but it looks like that’s going to happen in Gavin’s case. The wide receiver has made it clear that Florida State has been a dream school of his since he was a child. But, Alabama will host him on an official visit next month and will have one last chance to impress the Wakulla High School star.
I'd rather land AJ Brown, but they don't mention him in the article.

6. Terrell Hall, four-star DT, Washington, D.C.
Recap: Hall told Andrew Bone of Rivals.com that he will take an official visit to Alabama in January and said outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi told him he’s his No. 1 priority.
What it means: If National Signing Day was today, Hall would be a member of the Crimson Tide, in my opinion. Nick Saban will have an in-home visit with the prospect closer to Hall’s official visit date in January.

Leonard Warner, a 4-star linebacker from Brookwood (Snellville, Ga,) High School, was one of several top players from the state of Georgia competing Tuesday at McEachern High School in the Elite Junior Classic, which pits the state’s top juniors against one another.
Earlier this season, Warner released a Top 5 that included Georgia, Alabama and Auburn. After Tuesday’s game, he revealed a change to his list.
“The new team in my Top 5 is Stanford,” Warner told SEC Country. “It used to be Auburn, but I decided to go in a different direction.”
Former defensive coordinator Will Muschamp left Auburn for the head coach’s job at South Carolina, and a new defensive coordinator hasn’t been hired. Uncertainty about who Auburn will hire to replace Muschamp is already affecting the recruiting trail.
Muschamp’s departure doesn’t seem to be the reason for Auburn’s absence from Warner’s Top 5, however. In fact, that may not have made any difference.
“It wasn’t anything Auburn did,” Warner said. “Just the academic caliber (at Stanford) and the fact that they have great football at the same time, I had to put them in my Top 5.”
A balance of academics and football is something that is important to the talented linebacker. It’s why schools like Georgia Tech and Duke are also near the top of his list.
Auburn may not currently reside in Warner’s preferred bunch, but that could change depending on who the program hires to lead its defense. Whoever the school brings in, a call to the nation’s No. 9 outside linebacker is likely to be a priority.

It was a busy Monday for UGA targets at the Under Armour All-America Game check-in in Orlando, Fla. What did those guys say?
Was it good news or bad news? Or meh? Here’s a quick recap of what’s out there. There a lot of information and coaching transitions to sort through with these major UGA targets.
quote:
1. Lyndell “Mack” Wilson, 5-star LB, Montgomery, Ala.
Recap: The nation’s No. 1 OLB told Derek Tyson of ESPN that Florida was his leader, but also that he was leaning toward Florida and UGA. His UGA official visit, as reported previously, will be on Jan. 15. His buddy Jeawon Taylor, a Florida commit, will also be on an UGA official visit that weekend.
What it means: The fact that UGA has essentially came out of nowhere since Smart’s hiring cannot be overstated. Especially since he told Tyson that his relationship with Smart has now placed UGA over the in-state Crimson Tide.
That said, the term “all over the place” might apply to Wilson. He also told SEC Country’s Zach Abolverdi he is “all even” and is leaning toward no one and yet also said that Florida is his No. 1 school. He added that Florida and Alabama are tied and UGA is a distant third. He said the decision was 40 percent Florida, 40 percent Alabama and 20 percent UGA.
Confused yet?

quote:
3. Shyheim Carter, Sr., 4-star DB, Kentwood, La.
Recap: There was one report that said he was down to a final three, but Carter disputed that with SEC Country’s Chris Kirschner. The main nugget from Kirschner’s report said Carter had a good relationship with new UGA head coach Kirby Smart and “he could see himself playing at UGA.” Carter was committed to Alabama for a long time, but he re-opened things. He was close with Pruitt and he’s also tight with Ole Miss. The Rebels have done a great job recruiting Carter and welcoming his children to campus on any visit. Pruitt is now at Alabama and that relationship is another major factor. Carter has made it clear he considers Pruitt “one of the best men around.”
What it means: Another thing to watch with Carter is if UGA retains personnel director Sam Petitto. Those two are closely connected and have a long relationship. Smart gives UGA a chance here, but one way to look at it is that Pruitt and Smart cancel one another out and he goes to Ole Miss. That’s closer to his family.

quote:
4. Michail Carter, 4-star DT, Jackson, Ga.
Recap: Carter told 247’s Keith Neibuhr that he plans to take all of his official visits once the dead period ends, but that means it will include a couple of mid-week trips. UGA got his last official visit before Jan. 29. Clemson gets an official on Jan. 15 and Georgia Tech on Jan. 22. The 6-foot-4, 302-pounder said he had no leaders. Alabama was said to be recruiting him the hardest.
What it means: That last official visit is always prime real estate. It looks like UGA has maintained his attention during the transition to Kirby Smart’s staff. The retention of Tracy Rocker as defensive line coach cannot be understated here.

When DeAngelo Gibbs saw that Kirby Smart was named the new head coach at UGA, he told DawgNation it would change a lot in his recruiting.
That was before Smart invited the 5-star prospect up to Athens on his first recruiting weekend as the new coach. Gibbs said Smart told him he “had to coach” and “wanted to coach” and “was going to coach” him during a lot of one-on-one time on Dec. 15.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder said that weekend was probably his best ever trip to UGA and he’s made plenty. Smart’s pitch was about as broad as the athleticism of the 5-star he was recruiting.

Jaleel Laguins is made of some very rare stuff. There’s loyalty, and then there’s what the nation’s No. 10 inside linebacker prospect feels for UGA.
The 4-star recruit committed to Mark Richt’s program back in August and did not back off that in the transition to Kirby Smart. He heard briefly from Smart in the first few days after he was hired, but hasn’t heard from him since. He told DawgNation two weeks ago he was uncertain where he stood with the program.
He also said Florida, LSU and Tennessee are still hot after him right now. He’s got official visits planned to those schools and will now take an official visit to Alabama on Jan. 28. Former UGA defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt contacted him quickly after he was hired in Tuscaloosa.

From Tom Loy:
quote:
On Ben Davis...
— For quite some time, I felt that the elite linebacker was just visiting Notre Dame to check it out and see what it's all about. The Irish weren't a true contender and Davis was SEC bound. However, after talking to Davis on and off the record and just getting a better feel for his recruitment, in addition to talking with another source, it seems Notre Dame is actually a true player for his services.
I'm absolutely not saying they are going to land him, but the Irish are in his top group. They have a long way to go if they are going to catch Alabama and Georgia in this one, but running backs coach Autry Denson has atleast given them a seat at the table. One visit to Notre Dame can change things. Davis is an intelligent young man with NFL aspirations. He also takes academics very seriously, as does his family.
Notre Dame's pitch to Davis remains the same. Come be the next Jaylon Smith, but also the first Ben Davis. Notre Dame will lay out the red carpet when he arrives in January and will likely put itself in a strong position for consideration, but I remain skeptical that he ends up anywhere other than the Crimson Tide.
