4. Quinnen Williams

Ht: 6-4 Wt: 265 Pos: DE
Rivals.com rating: 3 stars
What you need to know: Williams decommitted from Auburn in the summer after participating in Alabama's camp. He committed to Alabama a few weeks later. He has been one of Alabama's bigger recruiters.
Considering: Alabama commitment
Bone says: Williams does not carry much bad weight on his impressive frame. He is explosive coming off the ball and has speed and power. He has the skills to become an elite pass rusher.

This guy will end up being a steal.

Aaron Sterling, 2017 three-star defensive end from Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Ga., informed an Alabama assistant coach on Tosh Lupoi on Thursday evening his intentions to commit to the University of Alabama.
"Aaron spoke with Coach Tosh Lupoi yesterday afternoon," said recruiting coach Corey Johnson. "He is supposed to speak with Coach Saban sometime today. They have been recruiting Aaron for a while. They offered him before the start of the season.
"My guys are well traveled. They start traveling to schools when they are sophomores. Aaron has been to Alabama three or four times. Our guys like to get their commitment out of the way. We try to get commitments out of the way as soon as possible. We want them to know where they want to go so they can focus on academics."
Alabama, among many other schools in the Southeast, targeted the versatile Peach State product.
"Of course he likes the academics and tradition (at Alabama)," said Coach Johnson. "I get them to sit down and pick their top schools and why they like them. I think it has a lot to do with the tradition and the defensive players they produce.
"He is very versatile. He is 270-pounds, but can run like a running back. He can play three positions. He can play linebacker, defensive end or defensive tackle. Aaron has offers from every school in the Southeast."
Sterling had 24 sacks this season, 40 tackles for loss and 80 tackles. He was named County Player of the Year and an All-State selection. He is also a very good student.
This guy will end up being a steal.

The Under Armour All-America Game is on Saturday, Jan. 2 with many of the top players in the country participating. Here's a quick look at 10 prospects Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell feels have something to prove.
quote:
5. DT Kendell Jones
Killeen (Texas) Shoemaker
Jones is one of the most physically impressive prospects I have ever seen in my 17-plus years in this industry, but can his play match his amazing attributes? At 351 pounds of sheer muscle, Jones should be able to push anyone around but he has shown to be a bit too easy to block and re-direct in our evaluations. Maybe on the biggest stage that will change.

6. CB Nigel Knott
Madison (Miss.) Germantown
Knott is highly-ranked and regarded at the cornerback position but he's not the biggest or most physical cornerback out there so he will need to show he can handle bigger guys who will either outmuscle or out-jump him. Knott was on the verge of a fifth star after an amazing spring and summer but an injury this season and a lack of physical development has clouded that prospect.

For teams winning state titles, the immediate payoff is a championship trophy at the end of the final game.
A few weeks later, there's another payoff in the form of its players making the Alabama Sports Writers Association all-state football team, which was released Saturday night.
Some 42 players from 10 championship teams -- seven in the Alabama High School Athletic Association and three more from the Alabama Independent Schools Association -- were first-team selections with 17 more on the second team and seven honorable mentions.
Members of the ASWA prep committee selected a first and second team at every position in every class and up to two honorable mentions. Nominations were made by voting members as well as the state's coaches.
Three champions had five first-teamers each -- Class 6A Spanish Fort, 4A Leeds and 3A Piedmont. Six champions had four members each on the first team: Class 7A McGill-Toolen, 2A Elba, 1A Maplesville and all three AISA winners -- AAA Bessemer Academy, AA Edgewood Academy and Class A Abbeville Christian. Class 5A winner St. Paul's had three members.
Usually, winning a championship has been rubber-stamp for a team 's coach to earn coach of the year honors. This year, there was only one -- Abbeville Christian's Ashley Carlisle in the AISA.
The ASWA will release its three finalists for back and lineman of the year in each class on Sunday, Jan. 3. The winners, along with the Mr. Football award and the ASWA's Super 12 team, will be revealed at the annual Player of the Year Banquet, to be held in Montgomery on Jan. 13 and sponsored by the Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association.

It's recruiting season in Mississippi.
With six weeks until National Signing Day, a number of the state's top prospects are seeing their stock rise as schools race to land the best 2016 talent in Mississippi. A handful of underclassmen are also starting to see their offer sheets expand as new scholarships are dolled out with coaches gearing up for the next recruiting cycle.
In addition, several in-state players rose in the December Targeted 22 based on their performance in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Football Classic. Here's a breakdown of the top 22 hottest, most sought after in-state prospects.
quote:
1. Jeffery Simmons, DE, Noxubee County: The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder remains in the top spot for another month. Simmons ended his senior season with a third state championship and was a nightmare for Alabama's offensive line in the MS-AL game. Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss and Alabama conducted home visits with the four-star DE during the live period. Simmons says the Rebels, Bulldogs, Crimson Tide and Auburn will likely host him on official visits next month.

2. A.J. Brown, WR, Starkville: Brown's recruitment is open after winning the 6A championship and a big performance in the MS-AL game. The four-star Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Alabama target caught nine passes for 137 yards and two TDs in Mississippi's 28-21 win and will have one of the most talked about recruitments leading into NSD 2016.

3. Nigel Knott, CB, Germantown: Knott rounds out the top 3 of Mississippi's most sought after uncommitted prospects. The cornerback lived up to his elite status in the MS-AL game and will take several visits after the Under Armour All-American Game on Jan. 2. While a host of out-of-state programs are seeking his talents, don't rule out the four-star prospect's connections to Mississippi State and Ole Miss, which could lead to him staying in state.

4. Raekwon Davis, DL, Meridian (Previously 11): Could Mississippi State flip the Alabama defensive line commit before signing day? The Bulldogs are certainly trying and visited Davis prior to the MS-AL game. The four-star tackle will officially visit Starkville in January but has yet to line up a date to visit Tuscaloosa.

10. Cam Akers, ATH, Clinton (Jr., 4): Akers remains the top-ranked Mississippian in 2017. Ole Miss has made a recent push to flip the Alabama commit, but Mississippi State is still working its way into the picture.

quote:
13. Octavious Cooley, WR/TE, Laurel: Cooley is solid on his commitment to Ole Miss but is planning to take official visits elsewhere, including potential stops at Mississippi State, Alabama and LSU. He showed his ability this year to not only be a dominant pass catcher but his strength as a blocking tight end, a role he'll likely take on at the next level.
