Maybe the reason we offered Nick Coe.

I don't think so. I watched Coe's film yesterday. He's pretty damn good and definitely underrated. I think Coe is a 3-4 DE all the way whereas Hall could play OLB.

If we beat up on Michigan State, we're going to have a big boost in recruiting for that first week of January.

Speaking of Coe, here are a few quotes from his coach on the Alabama offer:

quote:

“He’s flattered,” George said. “First and foremost, you’re talking about a final four team that has been essentially the best college football team in the last ten years, so obviously (he’s) flattered coming from that program as successful as they’ve been.

“It kind of took us by surprise. Our defensive coordinator actually caught up with Coach (Bo) Davis, the defensive line coach, and last week he called and expressed interested. Eventually he got Nick on the phone and talked to him a little bit and I guess he formally offered him sometime late last week. Then last night Coach (Tosh) Lupoi called me, he recruits this area, and we started talking about Nick and Alabama and the tradition Alabama has, especially on defense and the defensive linemen they have.”

quote:

“(Lupoi) said, to phrase him, “We’re all in on Nick Coe.” He just wanted to know if they had a shot and just to see where things are and talk to Nick,” George said. “I called Coach (Lupoi) back this morning and he was able to communicate those things to Nick. We’re excited about it. Nick’s kind of taken aback by it a little bit. Obviously, he’s a firm commitment to Auburn and he’s established strong relationships down there with Coach (Rodney) Garner. We’ll see. Coach Lupoi said they’d definitely like to get up to Asheboro in January and get a chance to meet face-to-face. They’d love to get him on an official visit.”

quote:

“He’s a pretty prestigious wrestler,” George said. “He won state and actually won two different national titles last year. He’s actually rehabbing a torn MCL from late in the regular season so he actually hasn’t wrestled yet. He’s trying to get back to where he can be, he got cleared, he’ll start wrestling after Christmas, and then he’s trying to just get enough matches in to qualify for regionals. We’ve got a few tournaments set up in January, and then he’s got the SAT.”

Tomlinson 2.0?

quote:

“You can go on YouTube and see some his wrestling stuff,” George said. “That’s probably the biggest thing that jumps off the page. He ran an electric 4.76 forty-yard dash, so he has incredible quickness, great leverage, tremendous feet and a lot of strength. All the coaches have talked about his wrestling background. First and foremost his leverage and playing with his hands, and then secondly that mano-a-mano mentality, it’s you and another guy and you can’t blame anyone else if you lose. A lot of coaches really grasp that and praise that.”

quote:

“I know after talking to Coach (Lupoi) last night and then a little today, they just want an opportunity to recruit him and see where things stand,” George said. “They know it’s a late in the game, but he was talking about the tradition and the situation they have where they’ll be losing some linemen to the NFL. You’ve got to replenish. They’re throwing out feelers and seeing where things are.”

The evolution of the NCAA has been interesting to watch. It's hard to believe that less than a decade ago we had to vacate wins for fricking textbooks.

Ignore what I said regarding them forgetting Carter. Their mod, David Johnson, posted this today:

***A Crsytal Ball came through the system today for 4-star Shyheim Carter. Expect it to become a trend leading up to his announcement in early January. I believe Ole Miss sits in the cat bird's seat for Carter right now.

Another post by Johnson:

***I spoke with 4-star DE Terrell Hall this afternoon. I get the feeling Ole Miss has an outstanding shot at landing the Under Armour All-American and former Ohio State commit.

strange they're all Bama targets huh?

Huge lead for Hall and not even an Ole Miss peep, and somehow now they're in it.

No chance in hell they get Gary, Simmons, Hall and Carter. In fact they should only get Simmons out of that group. Hall is FSU/Bama, Carter will recommit and Gary is going to Michigan.

I agree it appears to be a long shot for them to land anyone other than Simmons in that group, but we said the same thing around this time in 2012.

They still somehow managed to pull Tunsil, Nkemdiche (his brother being there helped) and Treadwell.

Post from a guy on BOL:

quote:

Nigel Knott , I'm no insider, but my twins are seniors and have friends that are at Germantown which is where Nigel goes to school. Its in Madison county, which is close to where I live. One of my twins plays baseball and he knows several kids at Germantown as he has been playing ball since he was 4 years old. The other night several of his friends came over and two were from Germantown and know Nigel. I asked them what the deal was with him and where they thought he was going to school and if Nigel was talking. They said that his mom likes Bama but that Nigel was being very quiet about it and they could not say for sure. They said that he mentioned Oregon along with Bama and that Nigel had mentioned Ole Miss in some manner but the guys I talked with, my sons friends got the feeling that is was Bama or Oregon, but would not be shocked if he stayed in MS, but felt like Bama was the school. Now I in no one can say with any guarantee where he will end up, but I know these kids that go to Germantown and they would not lie to me as I coached several of them for years. That being said, I guess Nigel wants to play the recruiting game so we shall see. As NSD draws closer I might can get some info, they guys said they would keep an ear out for me and let me know if they hear or see anything. Just passing this along. Also I have several friends at Clinton Highschool which is across town and can probably get some info on Cam Akers, but that is for next year, so I will wait to ask the guys I know. I coached travel baseball for 9 years in the Jackson MS metro area and my son that plays is a senior this year so he and I just happen to know kids in this age range. Just passing on something, I wish it was concrete for Nigel, but his lips are sealed. They did say that he was blazing fast and has a great vertical, but they have not seen him run against other D1 athletes so take that how you will. They also said he needs to put some weight on and that he is not thick like Landon Collins at all, just using Landon as an example.

True but they would have to sling around some serious cash for this group (not out of question when it comes to Ole Piss obviously). Gary has a ton of New Jersey to Michigan connections - Jabrill Peppers, former head coach at Paramus and 4 other NJ prospects committed to Michigan. You know something seriously shady happens if he chooses Ole Piss over Michigan. Hall has never mentioned them before and now all of a sudden they have a good chance? I'm calling bull. That OM mod is selling subs. Thank god we have realistic mods that don't pump sunshine like that.

It looks like Kirby has offered 2017 QB Jake Bentley from Opelika. His father is following Muschamp to USCe so he's been rumored to be heading there.

However, my hope is this offer came about due to Fromm being solid to Alabama.

Headliner: RB Najee Harris, Antioch (Calif.) Antioch, No. 5 Overall 2017

Overview: Surprise, surprise it's the Crimson Tide. Who would think Nick Saban and Alabama would be so high in the 2016 and 2017 combined rankings? Just about everyone, and for good reason. The Tide continue to grab top talents from several different regions. The top two prospects in the 2016 and 2017 class are both from California. Najee Harris and Jonah Williams are the only five-star prospects currently committed to the Tide, and Cam Akers adds Rivals100 flavor from the Southeast with a trio of 2017 Georgians. Texas, Mississippi, Georgia, California, Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia and Alabama are all represented by members of the two Tide classes. Saban continues to show his recruiting powers stretch far beyond the borders of Alabama and the Southeast.

One of Louisiana’s most highly sought-after prospects will wind up being one of the big gems in the 2017 recruiting class.

Based on the volume of offers he has received thus far, he may very likely end up in the SEC.

Four-star defensive back Brad Stewart of McDonogh 35 High School (New Orleans) posted a photo displaying many of his big-time college offers that rolled in after his junior season.

Among the SEC teams identified were Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi State.

Additionally, Stewart holds offers from Florida and Missouri, and has generated interest from LSU.

Stewart is the No. 9 player in Louisiana’s 2017 recruiting class and rated as the No. 20 cornerback in the nation.
