I dont' know if this offer is directly related to us missing some guys, but the staff offered a 3-star DE committed to TCU yesterday.
Sci Martin Highlights
I haven't watched his film yet, but a quick glance at the LSURb shows that some of them wanted him.

Johnathan Kongbo says Alabama and USCe are battling it out for his final OV. Saban is supposedly visiting him this week.

I'm watching that Martin kid's highlights right now and he's pretty damn good. His profile says he's 6'4" but he looks fricking huge height-wise.
ETA: At the 1:52 mark he tackles the RB, the QB, forces the fumble and recovers it.

Kentwood athlete Shyheim Carter injured his left knee Thursday at the open practice for the Class 1A state championship. In fact, the Kentwood staff was not sure if he would be able to play Friday afternoon in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
However, Carter was able to go and was the linchpin for the Kangaroos.
Through the air, Carter threw for 235 yards and four touchdowns to lead Kentwood to the Class 1A state championship over two-time defending champion Haynesville, 40-7.
"This is an amazing feeling," said Kentwood coach Jonathan Foster. "I preached to our seniors our motto -- Blood, sweat and tears. They bought into it. Everybody knows we had adversity leading up to this morning. We didn't know if Shyheim was going to be able to play and he stepped up. He wasn't able to run the ball, but he was able to throw the ball.
"You can have very talented players that don't have no heart; Shyheim displayed he had the heart of a champion tonight. He could have easily said, 'Coach, I'm not going to play.' He didn't do that. He said, 'Coach, I'll give you whatever I got.' He did that."
Carter didn't attempt a run the entire game because of the knee injury, but had no doubt that he would be able to contribute in some way.
"It was bad," the highly touted athlete said about the soreness in his knee Friday morning. "When I got up this morning I got in the pool, I iced it as much as I could and I just gave it all I got. I knew I was going to be able to play, but I knew I would have to get it all I got for the team."
And he did give it his all and even earned the Most Outstanding Player award from the media.

Meh. He needs 2-3 years, at least, to put on weight to be big enough to play big time college football. He has the potential to be very good, but he is skinny as a rail.

Following a week at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game and senior film review, we've updated the state of Alabama rankings on 247Sports.
***Gordo linebacker Ben Davis is the new No. 1 player in the state on 247Sports, jumping Lyndell Wilson. The two have been battling back and forth for the top spot on 247Sports for two years now and we will have one more opportunity to see them side by side at the Under Armour All-American game and pracitces in January. We liked Davis more in the most recent setting at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game and given his size, length and athleticism, we feel he has more long term upside. Ben Davis recently called Georgia his leader while WIlson currently has Florida on top. Alabama sits at No. 2 for both but leads the Crystal Ball for both as well.
***While he remains the No. 3 prospect in the state, Auburn commit Marlon Davidson has moved up 21 spots in the national rankings to the No. 38 player in the country following a strong week at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game.
***Alabama commits Quinnen Williams and Deonte Brown have moved up to the No. 4 and 5 players in the state respectively. Williams was dominant in Hattiesburg at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star practices and game and he has been trending up all season long. The same can be said for Brown who has Chance Warmack upside if he can keep his weight under control.
***Florida commits Jeremiah Moon and Jeawon Taylor round out the four-star ranks on 247Sports while another Florida commit Lamical Perine is the highest rated three-star in Alabama. If the Gators are able to land Lyndell Wilson, that would give Jim McElwain four of 247Sports' top eight prospects in the state of Alabama.
***Other upward movers include MIssissippi State commit Erroll Thompson (No. 9 in the state), Alabama commit T.J. Simmons who was outstanding as a senior and during Alabama-Mississippi All-Star competition (No. 10 in the state) and Michigan commit Kingston Davis (No. 31 in the state) who set the Prattville season single rushing record at 6-1, 225 pounds.
***A few guys took some drops in the rankings including Auburn commit John Broussard. Broussard struggled in Hattiesburg at the All-Star event and we haven't been in love with his junior or senior film since he emerged as a sophomore. Louisville commit P.J. Blue fell out of the four-star range after further film review. So too did Ole Miss commit Denzel Mitchell. Velus Jones Jr. also took a slight drop in the rankings after seeing him in person down to the No. 19 player in the state.

Okudah updates his contact status with the schools he’s considering.
“I keep up with all the in-state schools, that’s for sure,” he said. “Ohio State, LSU, Florida, Alabama, Stanford and Tennessee,” he said. “There’s more but off the top of my head that’s pretty much all of them.”

On this week’s board, Irish247 updates a week that includes recent several top targets, top ten lists, and new names to watch. Where does Notre Dame sit with some of the top talent on this board?

1. Demetris Robertson: 6-1/165, Athlete, Savannah (GA) Christian Prep
-Notre Dame is still a major, major player in this recruitment. Robertson is very high on the Irish and everything the university can do for him as a student-athlete. His entire family has made it very clear to Robertson and the Notre Dame staff that if he wants to head to South Bend, he has their complete blessing. There is no pressure from his family to remain close to home or stay local for college. One source even went as far as saying that his family believes he "needs to get out of Georgia" for school. Branching out and trying something new isn't something anyone in his camp is against.
Tuscaloosa is out of the state of Georgia.

Tuscaloosa is the perfect compromise. It's far enough out of Georgia to get him to branch out, but close enough where his family could come see all of his games.

Article on that preferred walk-on we offered:
Just 6/8 field goals? shite, I guess that is 6 more field goals that Piniero has ever made in live action, but still that doesn't give me a lot of confidence.
He's also looking for a scholly. I doubt we would give him it unless things are looking really shaky with Griffith coming back.

"My coach at my high school told me he was texting with one of the 'Bama coaches," he said. "It's going to be hard to decide where I want to go but 'Bama is definitely one of my favorite schools."
Florida and Georgia have also extended an invitation to Wasson about walking on and he'll visit each officially in January. One open weekend remains and UA could figure into hosting him again before a decision is made.
"It's a great school, I loved it when I came for the kicking camps," Wasson said of Alabama. "I remember everything being so nice and clean and them having all of the newest equipment."
Handling kicking and punting duties for Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter High School, Wasson notched six of eight field goal tries and registered touchbacks on 90 percent of his kickoffs. He averaged 43 yards per punt.
Some time will elapse before it is known where he'll kick in 2016.
"I have a while, I'm going to wait it out," Wasson said. "I'm just going to see who can offer more (scholarship) money and playing time."

A couple things:
1)Hiring Montana State's OC today sealed it for Oregon. Otherwise we probably were going to have our starting QB for 2016 commit to transfer to us.
2)DrewD has a coaching contact in the Lassiter, Ga. area who is very high on Mitchell Wasson as a college kicker. Said he was more accurate than Paneiro, but didn't kick it quite as far on FGs. Still put it out of the endzone on KO's. Interesting. Pruitt offered a pref walk-on spot at Ugag.

Have you heard anything about Dline recruiting? It has been surprisingly meh given that our dline is the best in the CNS era, and most of them are leaving.

We're in it for everybody. But no, I know of nothing substantial.
A couple guys say we lead for Simmons. Dadgummit, why can't he be from literally any other state in the country?
We apparently blew Derrick Brown and his parents away this weekend, but that will still be a tough pull.
We're just going to have to let it play out.
Fortuntely, Quinnen Williams has turned into a beast.
None of the guys I get info from think we sign Raekwon Davis, and they are all thrilled about it.
They think he's going to be bust-city either here or wherever he goes.

It seems to me that the staff this year is less focused on recruiting and more focused on on-field coaching and game prep. I hope that yields the results we want, and hopefully the rest will take care of itself.
We are literally the only team that can play in the playoffs and have zero recruiting momentum to speak of. It is baffling. The decision not to hire Pruitt until five days after CKS announced for UGA was also strange. We gave up an extra five days of having Pruitt on the recruiting trail because of that timing issue.

One of the guys is friends with a college offensive coordinator in Texas that thinks Jalen Hurts is a program changer. There are a lot of folks that think he's the best senior QB in the country. Man, I sure hope they're right. Can you imagine if we had a playmaker at QB??

My battle with UA QBs has been well-documented. I'm just resigned to having a game manager there. Taking Hurts has no downside whatsoever. Even if he doesn't pan out at QB, he'd be a nasty WR. His video of OBJ type catches.

One surprise from Derrick Brown/ Hardman/AJ Brown/ Warrior/Robertson/Simmons and we're all set.
What I think feels so off about this class is how may of our absolute best commits aren't actually committed yet, and some of them still name other schools as their leaders.
And I wish the best to Piniero and Prukop in their careers. I just hope we get to beat Piniero's arse in the SEC Championship game next year and Prukop's in the playoff
