Asked about his timeline for making decision, Lawrence said he might be done taking official visits despite having three left. It might boil down to in-home visits in order to commit by the end of January.
“At this point, there’s a big dead period coming up, so I’m going to wait until the dead period is over to do in-home visits,” Lawrence said. “I’m done visiting schools. I have to wait and kind of see. I probably want to do something in January. I don’t want to have to wait until Signing Day unless I have to. If I have to, I will, but I’m looking (making my decision) at some time in January.”
Since the start of his senior season, Lawrence has taken two official visits — to UCLA and to Ohio State — and unofficially visited nearby LSU. LSU recruiting coordinator and running backs coach Frank Wilson, special teams coordinator Bradley Dale Peveto and defensive line coach Ed Orgeron made an in-home visit to Lawrence on Nov. 29. Orgeron has made a strong impression on the 6-foot-3, 305-pounder.
“Man, it’s a good one (relationship),” Lawrence said. “He’s a great recruiter. He really is. He came to my house Day 1. I was the first person he saw and it meant a lot. I was his first in-home visit; as soon as he got the job he came. He’s a great man and true to his word.”
Lawrence indicated that coaching stability is also going to play a key factor in his decision. One position that is definitely shored up for next year is that of Les Miles, which is a positive for Lawrence as he considers staying in Louisiana.
“It was very important,” Lawrence said. “Coach Miles is a great guy. Players love playing for him. To see him not there would be completely different for the program. I’m glad he’s staying. It helped my progress and the other kids around the nation, so I’m glad he’s staying.”
Lawrence also added that playing time as a true freshman could be a factor in his decision, and at LSU that opportunity might present itself. The defensive tackle maintains good relationships with current LSU defensive linemen Davon Godchaux and Christian LaCouture, who believe Lawrence can make an impact as early as Day 1.
“Yeah you do (think about it), but wherever you go you have to compete,” Lawrence said. “I’ve been talking to them and they think I can come in and contribute and help them out. They have about four to five guys that are pretty good, but need to expand on their depth.”

Doesn't sound like we have much of a chance. How is Les staying one year "coaching stability"?

not sure 17-18 year olds see much past 1 year. 1 year in their life is like a lifetime to us old coots

Early in the Class of 2015 recruiting cycle (before Ben Davis, Marlon Davidson, and Mack Wilson burst on to the scene), a couple assistant coaches on Bama's staff actually thought Shawn Jennings might be the top prospect in the state for the 2016 cycle. 1.5 years or so later, and a couple of the services have him rated outside the top 20.
The thing is.. he's done nothing to change his stock as a recruit in our coaches eyes. They still think he's a really good player. A guess a few guys might be rated higher on their boards now overall, but they're still very high on him compared to the recruiting services. This just shows the occasional differences in staff's evaluations and the recruiting services.
I know some of you think I gump a lot. But I can assure you that (according to those I get my info from... Redfish, DrewD, BamaK, Rodney Orr, etc.) our staff is quite happy with the potential of the Jennings brothers.

He's right on some things but he has been known to copy BOL info and guaranteed Alec Morris was the starting QB all off season and into the eve of the first game.

One coach has reached out to him as of late, and that’s Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, who took Smart’s position with the Crimson Tide.
Williams was close with Pruitt when he was at UGA, so with him being at Alabama now, does that make the Crimson Tide stick out more?
“I just want to think about what I want to do,” Williams said. “Coach Pruitt is a great coach and I want to make sure that I am making the right decision.”
He plans on having a favorite school in the coming months, but right now, everyone is even.
Williams is ranked as the nation’s No. 16 cornerback in the class of 2017 and the No. 25 overall prospect in the state of Georgia.

Four-star safety Xavier McKinney committed to Alabama back in September for a few reasons, one of which had to do with his relationship with Kirby Smart.
According to McKinney, he was closer to the former Alabama defensive chief than any other coach throughout his recruitment. Needless to say, Smart’s departure to Athens, Ga., didn’t sit well with the 2017 safety.
“It’s his decision,” McKinney told SEC Country over the weekend. “I kind of hate that he left. It is what it is. It’s a business. I’ll leave it at that.”
McKinney, who reported an offer from the Bulldogs in October, is pleased with the Crimson Tide’s hiring of former Georgia defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. But the 6-foot-1, 170-pound junior from Roswell High School (Ga.) declined to comment any further.
He is rated as the No. 11 safety in next year’s recruiting cycle.

Four-star tight end Octavious Cooley saw his high school season come to a close over the weekend after participating in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game in Hattiesburg, Miss., and he’ll now focus his attention on official visits.
That should include a quartet of SEC programs.
“I’m most definitely going to take an official visit to Alabama, LSU and Mississippi State,” Cooley told SEC Country. “And to Ole Miss, of course.”
Cooley, who has been committed to the Rebels since last December, said each of three aforementioned schools continue to pursue him despite his commitment to Ole Miss.
“I’ll keep them in mind,” Cooley said of the three programs. “They’re always going to stay in mind.”
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound senior from Laurel, Miss., maintained Ole Miss remains at the top of his list and he has no intention of wavering on his commitment. He’s unofficially visited Oxford a handful of times since he announced his pledge.
