Where do we hit attrition in the final recruiting class?

Apparently Raekwon Davis is a goner.

Diggs may end up at Maryland.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - For college football fans, the final score of Team Mississippi's 28-21 win over Team Alabama in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic was inconsequential. The performances of FBS-bound prospects, on the other hand, carry more weight. Below is a ranking of programs by how their current commits faired in Saturday's contest.

quote:

1. Alabama

T.J. Simmons made a stumbling catch for a touchdown in the game's first quarter and defensive lineman Raekwon Davis kept up the momentum he built in practice this week. Davis was disruptive and showcased the strength of a college-level prospect. Quinnen Williams made his mark on the contest by recording six tackles, two of which went for losses. Williams flashed incredible quickness for a prospect of his large stature.

2. Florida

Florida's day at the all-star game was headlines by a 48-yard run for running back Lamical Perine, but linebacker Jeremiah Moon was solid as well. He recovered a pair of fumbles and made six tackles. Moon has added a little weight this year and looks more comfortable playing defense than he did a year ago. Gators defensive back commit Jeawon Taylor finished the game with five tackles.

I'm not even gonna say it again.

5. Auburn

Auburn commits had a pretty quiet day statistically. Defensive back John Broussard was forced to cover game MVP A.J, Brown for much of the day and struggled a bit in that task. Five-star defensive lineman Marlon Davidson was more involved. His stats were limited to four tackles, including one in the backfield, but he was his usual disruptive self for most of the game and demanded a handful of double teams.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Saturday's Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game ended in a 28-21 victory for Team Mississippi, but college-bound prospects on both sides managed to shine in the contest. Below are various news and notes on the prospects involved in contest.

quote:

I WAS IMPRESSED BY …

Rivals100 wide receiver A.J. Brown, who had a spectacular senior season, finished Saturday's contest with a game-high nine catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns. One of the game's co-MVP winners, Brown has decent size, but his strengths are his acceleration and his hands. Brown was the most consistent and dynamic player on the field Saturday and was the driving force behind Team Mississippi's win.

Five-star Ben Davis' length allows him to totally change a game from the linebacker spot. He intercepted a pass on the game's first drive and returned it 79 yards for a touchdown. Even when Davis, who racked up 11 tackles on Saturday, isn't making a stop or tipping a pass, he's capable of making a quarterback second-guess things and did so often in the game. The big-bodied Davis looks great in a uniform, sure, but it's his length and quickness that make him special.

Ole Miss commit DeKaylin Metcalf had two long catches in the game's first quarter alone. He scored on a 69-yard pass that was mostly run-after-catch. Metcalf is on the verge of five-star status and showed some impressive breakaway speed on Saturday. The fact that he shined in an all-star setting should bode well for him going forward. One of Team Mississippi's co-MVPs, Metcalf caught five passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns.

Nigel Knott, who had a long punt return in the game's first half, was impressive in coverage on Saturday and showed some incredible closing speed. The performance helped ease any lingering concerns about Knott's meniscus tear, which forced him to miss more than half of his senior season. Knott moved like his old self on every play and didn't seem reserved in the slightest. Knott recorded five tackles in the game and was possibly the most athletic prospect on a field filled with college-bound talent.

Landing these 3 would be fricking awesome.

I WAS SURPRISED BY …

Three-star defensive back P.J. Hall was solid in coverage all game long, but his day was defined by a remarkable, one-handed interception on a jump ball. The uncommitted Hall had two interceptions but holds relatively few scholarship offers. He has decent size and above-average speed. He changes directions well and breaks on the ball quickly. He showcased FBS-level athleticism on Saturday.

Montgomery (Ala.) Carver wide receiver Xavier Lane carried the momentum from a fantastic week of practice right into game day. Lane, who has stellar length, ran a number of routes well and finished the game with a team-high six catches for 59 yards. Lane has offers from Cincinnati, Western Kentucky and a few others but should probably hold more opportunities than he does currently.

Florida commit Jeremiah Moon, who was once thought of as a wide receiver, looked miles more comfortable playing linebacker than he did at this time a year ago. Moon, who recovered two fumbles in the game, was more active than he was as a junior and moved well laterally. He was also solid in coverage.

I keep seeing AJ Brown and Metcalf's numbers, but what were TJ Simmons numbers?

I mean he scored two TDs like they did. So how many catches and yards?

I haven't found any stats on him, just article blurbs.

I did find a link to the full game replay though. I plan on watching it later:
