Jeffery Simmons - Ole Miss
AJ Brown - Alabama
Nigel Knott - Alabama
Raekwon Davis - Mississippi State (possibly a sign and place)
This would be awesome.

Does AJ have Bama gloves on in that pic?

HATTIESBURG - One of Mississippi's biggest matchup advantages in its 28-21 win over Alabama in the MS-AL game came from the makeup of its defensive line.
Up front, the group was highlighted by four-star prospects Jeffery Simmons (Noxubee County), Raekwon Davis (Meridian), Benito Jones (Wayne County) and Kobe Jones (Starkville). Behind the big names were other Division I prospects in Hal Northern (Rosa Fort), Jacques Turner (D'Iberville), Jerome Johnson (Bassfield) and Drelan Porter (South Panola).
The group lived up to its high expectations, combining for 64 tackles, nine tackles for loss, three QB hurries and two sacks.
"Because all of us have the size, everybody was talking about the defensive line in the class of 2016," Simmons said. "We proved it."
Simmons tallied seven tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a quarterback hurry. The 6-foot-4, 275-pound defensive end helped establish an elite pass rush that limited Alabama to 154 yards in the air.
Having Simmons at defensive end freed up South Panola's Drelan Porter to play to his strengths as a true pass rusher.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Mississippi State commit is used to playing defensive end at South Panola. In college he'll transition to outside linebacker, which is where he got his start on Saturday.
"That was my first time," Porter said. "It felt different. I've never been on an island just like that. I've been on the ground all the time. I'm out in the open. I can catch a pass and take it to the house if I wanted to. I feel like I'm getting used to it."
Porter notched five tackles and one tackle for loss.
With the amount of depth on that side of the ball, having fresh sets of legs wasn't an issue and helped Mississippi's D-Line wear down Alabama with its speed and ability to bull-rush its way into the backfield.
"Coach switched guys out every two plays. Kept rotating guys out," Northern, a defensive tackle, said. "I think can't nobody in the world block that defensive line. They (Alabama's offensive line) had slow feet, and they couldn't keep up with our quickness, speed off the ball."

Knott ready to pick up recruitment
Germantown cornerback Nigel Knott's big performance in the MS-AL game came at a critical time. The four-star cornerback notched five tackles and three pass break-ups against Alabama, which allowed him to stand out among a stout group of Mississippi defensive backs.
"I've been going against guys like A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalf, Nero Nelson and Jordan Duncan in practice all week so it got me ready for them (Alabama)," Knott said. "All those guys prepared me for this game."
Knott put his recruitment on hold after delaying his commitment in September. The 5-foot-11, 175 pounder already has an official visit to Oregon under his belt and says he won't commit until after his remaining four in January. While the Dandy Dozen cornerback doesn't have any OVs lined up, he says he will host Alabama, Mississippi State and Ole Miss on Sunday for the final day of in-home visits before the dead period.
"It's kind of confusing now because a lot of coaching staffs are changing, so I'm kind of just seeing where everybody is going and what everybody is doing," he said.

Mississippi ended Alabama's seven-year win streak with a 28-21 win over Alabama on Saturday in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic in Hattiesburg, Miss.
After seeing practices on both sides throughout the week, here are some game observations:
* The matchups I thought would cause problems for Alabama were what ended with Mississippi winning the game. Basically, co-MVPs A.J. Brown and D.K. Metcalf (Ole Miss commit) were unguardable. Each topped 100 yards receiving and each caught two touchdown passes.
But, you can argue also that Mississippi's best player was defensive end Jeffery Simmons, as the elite recruit lived in the backfield and batted down some passes as well.

* Alabama linebacker Ben Davis had a 72-yard interception return on the first series and was Alabama's MVP. The five-star showed why he's got a chance to be a special player and would have been even more active if inside linebackers were allowed to blitz.
Of the other Alabama five-star recruits, Auburn commit Marlon Davidson was a lot more noticeable in the second half (may have been getting doubled in the first) and uncommitted Lyndell Wilson battled through a bruised shoulder early in the game, but showed great lateral speed and instincts.
So he hurt his shoulder apparently.

* Nobody could cover Brown, though. Auburn commit John Broussard and uncommitted recruit P.J. Hall each got beaten on certain plays. Broussard may be a better nickel or safety at the next level, as he's indicated before. Hall did make some nice plays, including a pair of interceptions.
I really, really hope we land Brown.

* Hoover linebacker Jeremiah Moon was all over the place for Alabama. Florida is getting a good one and how his body develops while putting on weight will determine his success at the next level.
I hope we don't regret passing on Moon.

Could Ben Davis potentially create another three man ILB rotation?
Reuben Foster has the Mack LB spot locked down, but you'd imagine in base it'd be Reuben and SDH. Could Davis maybe share a spot with SDH?

* Mississippi cornerback Nigel Knott is an explosive player. Tyler Johnston put a nice ball just over his reach to T.J. Simmons for a touchdown, but that was about the only play he got "beat" on. He is also electric returning kicks and could be another Cyrus Jones type, if he commits to Alabama, and Alabama feels good about getting him.
Knott knocked a pass out of Xavier Lane's hands and on the next play, Mississippi's Zaire Jones had an interception.
I really, really hope we land him too.

I know we've had some really good ILBs over the last 10 years, but none of them have been ranked as high as Davis.
If these people who were at the practices and game are to be believed, then he's college ready right now.

* T.J. Simmons, the Alabama commit, caught two touchdown passes and was Alabama's top receiver. Didn't see much of Velus Jones, the current USC commit, after he dropped a touchdown pass in the first half, but he looked good in practice this week. Xavier Lane got plenty of targets. He said he's got a Troy official visit set in January.
Simmons is extremely underrated.

* Both defensive lines were very good. Attention to Davidson and Simmons meant Alabama commit Quinnen Williams got in the backfield for Alabama and Mississippi standouts Benito Jones (Ole Miss commit) and Raekwon Davis (Alabama commit, but for how long?) made plays.
It appears we are being set up for the Davis flip from all sides.

Where do we hit attrition in the final recruiting class? Considering we already have TJ Simmons and Trevon Diggs committed, are likely to get Cavin Ridley, and have a fair shot at Demetris Robertson with the Pruitt hire?

For the first time in 29 years, Mississippi All-Stars on Saturday hosted its state-vs-state game against Alabama All-Stars.
And the home squad took advantage.
The Alabama All-Star defense was unable to slow down Mississippi's Keon Howard, who threw four touchdown passes en route to a 28-21 win at Southern Mississippi's M. M. Roberts Stadium.
Howard connected with Arthur Brown on TD passes of 35 and 17 yards. Brown also connected with DeKaylin Metcalf from 69 and 32 yards.
Alabama's defense had its moments, highlighted by a 76-yard Pick-6 by Gordo linebacker Ben Davis. Also, Hoover's PJ Hall had two interceptions, defensive lineman Quinnen Williams (Wenonah) finished with six tackles and Jeremiah Moon (Hoover) collected six tackles with one sack.
But Alabama's all-star quarterbacks, Tyler Johnston (Spainish Fort) and Ty Pigrome (Clay-Chalkville) were held to modest numbers - by their lofty standards.
Johnston finished with 87 passing yards and one TD. Pigrome had 67 yards and one score. Both players threw one interception.
