Patterson wide receiver Mykel Jones continues to hear from LSU, despite the apparent likelihood that he will leave the state to play college football. Tigers wide receiver coach Tony Ball had an in-home visit with Jones and his family recently, but the chances of him playing football in Baton Rouge are very slim at this point. Florida and Ohio State have made contact recently, and those two programs could be dark horses to land his signature. Alabama, Tennessee and Ole Miss have all visited or plan visits with Jones this week.
North Webster athlete Devin White wrapped up his visit to Arkansas this past weekend. While many reports show a high level of confidence from Arkansas writers, it still appears that the 6-0, 255-pound two-way athlete is leaning towards LSU at this stage. White is also considering becoming an early enrollee, which would result in an impending decision with January rapidly approaching.

While participating at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star practices this week, one would be hard pressed to believe Marlon Davidson is as quiet as he is about the recruiting process. He's been the Yellohammer State's vocal leader throughout practices.
The Auburn commitment is amid his final two events as a high school prospect, with the Under Armour All-America Game as his final stop, before he sets foot on a college campus for good. Davidson, who starred at Greenville (Ala.) High School, is still not quite finished with the recruiting process.
Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Florida State make up the group looking up at the Tigers, but is there time to fit in another visit before enrolling anywhere? The No. 2 prospect in the state breaks it down in the above video.
Marlon Davidson. Still 75% committed to Auburn LINK

Shea Patterson interview LINK Doesn't sound like he's going to visit. I think that's good. I don't want him recruiting for OM on our dime.

Metcalf, a 4-star wide receiver from Oxford (Miss.) High School, said Alabama and Auburn will get official visits from him in January.
“Those two schools have been recruiting me really hard,” Metcalf told SEC Country. “They have been telling me that they are great places, they are losing some receivers and I can come in start.”
“Alabama puts out a lot of people into the NFL draft and Auburn does, too,” Metcalf said. “Auburn passes the ball a lot, and they are losing around six receivers. Ole Miss is obviously close to home, so it’s a lot to consider.”
After his official visits, Metcalf said he will have to think his recruitment over one last time before he signs commitment papers in February.
“I’ll look into it very closely,” he said. “I will have to talk to my parents and to God about it.”
“As of right now, I don’t see myself at anywhere but Ole Miss,” Metcalf said.
Again, not sure why we are bothering. LINK

The Crimson Tide have secured an official visit from defensive end Jonathan Kongbo, a 4-star defensive end who is rated the top junior-college prospect in the nation by 247 Sports. Kongbo confirmed the trip to SEC Country on Tuesday. Kongbo, who is from Arizona Western Junior College (Yuma, Ariz.), committed to Tennessee in November during an official visit. The Alabama visit will take place on Jan. 15.
“It’s obviously a traditional powerhouse and that’s the thing that’s attracting me to them right now,” the 6-foot-5 ½, 264-pound prospect said. “I know they’re a very good team and very well coached. I’m just exploring all my options at this point.”

Alabama assistant Bo Davis recently visited Simmons, stressing the need for the top recruit to join the defensive line. Alabama could lose several linemen to the NFL.
"If Alabama's the best fit for me, that's what I am going to choose," Simmons said. "They talk about using me at the end and at tackle. It went pretty good (with Bo Davis). They were telling me the opportunity I have."
Simmons said that both Alabama and Auburn's defensive coordinators leaving (Muschamp to SC, Kirby Smart to Georgia) didn't affect his recruitment because his primary recruiters are Davis for Alabama and Rodney Garner for Auburn.
"If getting out of state is the best option, that's what I am going to do," Simmons said.
Simmons plans on taking his recruitment all the way to National Signing Day. Here's what he is looking for. "When I go there, just the environment and the people I'm going to be around, and what I'm going to get out of their school," Simmons said.

Alabama commit Deonte Brown is firmly cemented with the Crimson Tide, so he has turned his attention to recruiting a couple of 5-star prospects. Brown, the nation’s No. 7 offensive guard, said he is working hard on the nation’s No. 1 outside linebacker Lyndell Wilson and the nation’s No. 1 inside linebacker Ben Davis. Brown says Alabama’s chances of landing both look promising.
“Probably very high,” Brown told SEC Country. “We have a lot to offer them. We are Alabama.”
Brown is going to have some work to do in order to get both to commit to Alabama. Wilson has Florida as his leader with Alabama in second. Davis has UGA on top with Alabama trailing closely behind.
Deonte Brown says he is working on recruiting Davis and Mack.
Isn't planning on taking anymore visits.

I hope that they get Pruitt. It would be even better if they could announce it by next week.

I hope we don't regret passing on Moon. Physically he looks a lot like Tim Williams did coming out of high school.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Day two of the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game practices took place on Wednesday, with several competition periods allowing for stars to shine and others to slip up. Here's a look at five players who impressed and two who had days to forget.

quote:
LB Jeremiah Moon
Hoover, Ala.
The Florida commit made up for a quiet day one with a very active day two. Moon was terrific rushing the passer off the edge, recording a sack during team play and then later using his length to deflect a pass when it couldn't quite get to the quarterback. He also did a nice job of containing on the outside and was always in the right place when it came to making reads.
I hope we don't regret passing on Moon. Physically he looks a lot like Tim Williams did coming out of high school.

DT Raekwon Davis
Meridian, Miss.
The 6-foot-7, 305-pound Alabama commitment is by far the biggest player prospect in attendance and on Wednesday he used his size and strength to dominate on the defensive line. Despite his size, Davis isn't just another zero-technique defensive tackle, he's versatile athletic and once he learns some better technique he could become nearly unstoppable.
Davis is tearing it up again in a camp setting.

I agree on both counts. I personally want this situation to be finalized as soon as possible. Get Pruitt on the road recruiting as much as we can.

The importance of the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game extends far beyond the borders of the two involved states. A number of college teams spanning the country have players set to participate in Saturday's All-Star game. Below is a ranking of how each team's group of commits fared on day two of practice at the event.
quote:
1. Alabama
Day two was stamped by Alabama commits on both squads. Defensive lineman Raekwon Davis, who boasts a college-ready frame as is, was a menace at practice and essentially lived in the offensive backfield. Quinnen Williams, who was dominant on the first day, was solid yet again. Wide receiver commit T.J. Simmons made one of the afternoon session's best catches on a go 50-yard go-route that saw the four-star prospect extend into a dive for a touchdown. Offensive lineman Deonte Brown was the quietest of all the Alabama commit but has the tools to become a high-level prospect if he this out on the college level.

2. Florida
Linebacker Jeremiah Moon led Florida's group of commits. Moon blitzed off the edge and got to the quarterback often. He knocked a ball down at the line of scrimmage as well. Gators wide receive pledge Quincy Lenton was almost as effective as Moon. Lenton showcased nice acceleration and a level of athleticism that he wasn't thought to possess. He ripped a near-interception out of the hands of a defensive back on one occasions and impacted practice in a number of ways. Running back Lamical Perine also got his share of touches on Thursday, though, he didn't make much noise with big plays. He also dropped a couple of passes.

4. Mississippi State
Mississippi State's three committed players all had solid days. Nero Nelson tested top-flight defensive back Nigel Knott on a couple of occasions, beating him once, while defensive end Drelan Porter was effective despite being a little underweight. The work that Dareuan Parker put in with the offensive line group was also solid and included few mistakes.

5. Auburn
Five-star defensive lineman Marlon Davidson was the star of the show for Auburn on Wednesday. He showed off an impressive spin move that yielded repeat success during the 11-on-11 session, and also showed off his trademark power to overwhelm offensive lineman. His versatility was noticeable all day. Tigers defensive back commit John Broussard also turned in a decent performance but still needs to add significant size to be an SEC-ready cornerback.

8. USC
Wide receiver Velus Jones, USC's only commit in the event, made his mark with a jumping, one-handed catch on an overthrown ball during the morning session. Jones made a handful of other important catches, but his day was defined by the spectacular grab. Jones needed a bounce back effort after an uneven first day of practice and got it.
