Alabama is still in the mix with a number of elite prospects such as 5-star linebackers Lyndell Wilson and Ben Davis. With the Tide gunning for their fourth national title in Saban’s tenure, a win would help the program maintain its grip as the premier powerhouse in recruiting circles.
However, Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio and his staff may have a little more at stake in that department. Since he arrived in East Lansing in 2007, Michigan State’s average class rank has been No. 34 nationally.
Michigan State currently has the nation’s No. 15 class—and it could get significantly better considering the Spartans are involved with 4-star talents such as receiver Donnie Corley, linebacker Daelin Hayes and athlete George Hill.
A win over the vaunted Tide could help Michigan State reach another level with regard to its reach with recruits across the country.

Dominant Georgia defensive tackle Derrick Brown is determined to find the right fit for his football future, and that search will extend deep into this recruiting cycle.
The 5-star Lanier High School senior still has four official visits left on the docket eight weeks shy of national signing day, setting the stage for a whirlwind final stretch. He confirmed plans to use those visits at Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee during a conversation with Bleacher Report.
A trip to Tuscaloosa is set for this weekend, while the other three campus stays are scheduled for January. The Crimson Tide welcome him to campus during an interesting phase of the recruiting cycle for head coach Nick Saban.
Alabama, in the College Football Playoff for a second consecutive year, is in the process of continued coaching staff changes. The program perennially sees assistants poached by other universities, and now it's longtime defensive coordinator Kirby Smart's turn to take on a new challenge.

Brown does have some familiarity with Smart from his Alabama recruitment, but that relationship with the Crimson Tide was largely established elsewhere.
“Coach Smart recruited me just a little, but [defensive line coach Bo] Davis has been the head of my recruiting and he’s still there. That’s what I’ll hold onto at the end of the day," he said.
Brown, rated No. 8 overall in 2016 composite rankings, is also focused on how Alabama will handle its vacant defensive coordinator position. There's one particular possibility that piques his interest, though at this stage it's purely speculative.
“Rumor has it that [Georgia defensive coordinator] Jeremy Pruitt will be the new Alabama defensive coordinator," he said. "Coach Pruitt is never one that's lied to me. When I talked to him at Georgia he told me the only way he’d leave is if he had to or if a head coaching job was open. Coach Pruitt has kept it real with me."

Of course they are. Most of our current players wore different team's gear at some point in their recruitment. Davis and Wilson want to keep everyone guessing.

Five of the top 10 players in Mississippi's class of 2016 (according to the 247Sports rankings) are uncommitted. College coaches aren't the only ones selling pitches to the 6-foot-2, 220-pound receiver. He's even hearing it from his teammates during the week of practices for the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game.
"DeKaylin Metcalf and Jordan Duncan. Ole Miss and Cal," Brown said laughing. "They joke all the time and say I need to come join them. I mean, (I'm) thinking about it but I'm just not ready."
On January 2nd, Brown will play in the Under Armour All-America Game with fellow uncommitted Mississippian Nigel Knott and Ole Miss pledge Benito Jones. While the four-star wide out doesn't have a commitment date set, he could know where he's headed by the time he suits up in Orlando.
"By then I'll probably tell the school where I'm going but I wouldn't tell the press by then," he said.

Alabama has an in-home visit scheduled with Brown on Dec. 13. Despite a pull from in-state programs, the Crimson Tide is still very much in the picture.
"Alabama is Alabama," he said. "They're in the playoffs now. That's a winning program. I love what Coach (Nick) Saban does and I have a great relationship with (wide receivers) Coach (Billy) Napier. They put receivers in the league. You really can't just turn that down."

You guys are a mess this year. Some of you will never learn. Literally every year a bunch of guys are obviously "playing the game" in recruiting, and almost all of them wind up where everyone knew they would go all along. And every year you guys get sucked in by it. I'm in the wrong profession. I should be selling snake oil, and you guys should be my customer base.
